Blindrun
I dunno how, but my wild guesswork paid off pretty quickly in this one. Like the “Potential Energy”-esque feel without copying it too much - and also applying the element of control to it.

I originally wasn't quite sure how one would go about logically figuring out how much momentum you needed to fling to the exit, but I guess it's quite simple: 4 isn't enough, whereas 6 (the maximum, or over) is too much. That leaves you to figure out how to get 5 blocks of momentum 😅

Difficulty: 2.25/10
Enjoyed: 7/10

Already: Love the lights to not having to count how high the shafts are. Now, let's go with the test!

So many possible solutions...but each one of them is fine I guess. I did it the "Almisuifre"-way ^^
Looks like 7-4+3 doesn't equal 5, but the crucial element is the negative gravity / deceleration at -4 which makes it a -5 technically :D At least that's my understanding of Portal's physics.
I very much enjoyed your map, good job either way! Thanks for creating.

(3x2)-4 + 3 =5

Completely understood. I am still going to enjoy your past work as many will and we eagerly await any future work. You have found other interests and just out of curiosity, what is your game of choice today. Thanks.

Players found at least 2 or 3 way to do it and I don't really remember which one id thei ntended one, but I think you used one of them ^^
I had a really huge map list some time ago but i managed to complete them all, so now my list is not so long but I'm not playing Portal 2 as much as before so it can still take ages before I play maps I added XD

I'm not too good at seeing the math involved but I could see a way to get there. See if this is what you intended and if it is, what math did I use.? I have been exploring your workshop with great pleasure. Finding gems regularly. Thank you for making them. If your queue is like mine it's overflowing with maps I intend to play but if you can find time to visit, I'll see ya round the workshop. One Bridge

@Almisuifre : Will add your map to the list, no idea when I will play it anyway...

7 - 4 + 3 ! Perhaps I did it a complicated way ^^ Good map.
May I submit one with momentum ? Air Paths
Spacesuit Spiff 19 May, 2013 @ 3:57pm
No, pretty sure I did it normally. Are you jumping into the first portal for that extra bit of momentum, because I didn't and 5 didnt work. That's probably the variable.
Geneosis  [author] 19 May, 2013 @ 2:31am
Not sure how you managed to get it with 3+3... Did you knock on the ceiling at some point? cause it could have transformed the 3 height into a 2 and then adding another 3 made the expected 5...
Anyway the aim is more about calculating the result than finding it, will add something to make the 5 more obvious, or just add it in the title ^^
Spacesuit Spiff 17 May, 2013 @ 6:16pm
After messing around for a bit, finally beat it with just 3+3. My main issue with this is that it's just trial and error until you figure out the right number (unless math was actually intended, but as I recall from physics it's impossible to figure that out without knowing gravity and some other stuff). Maybe you could use light strips to indicate the intended number. Also, whether the player jumps into the first portal may play into things; I didn't, and that may be why I needed 6 rather than 5? You could fix that with a faith plate or making it necessary to crouch under a light bridge, perhaps.

I got the idea of this map after playing the No Elements collection by Mevious, Gig, Azorae, etc... ;)
Added your map to my list ^^
| \_/ () 13 May, 2013 @ 1:45pm
pure maths! it was hard, i had to gain 5 blocks hight to solve it. i like it very much! have you tried this momentum map:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=126802912 (no elements) much easier but fun.
Geneosis  [author] 11 May, 2013 @ 11:29am
Lol, expecting players to make a precise calcul was a bad idea X) As you can they found a lot of alternative somutions ^^"
Nevermind, the easiest solution is still the one I thought about I think :p

@Bisqwit : Thanks for playing, will see the demo ;)
Bisqwit 11 May, 2013 @ 9:10am
Clever map. Here's what I did. If you pay attention closely, you may see where I got frustrated a bit. Rapid, accurate movements, andcoordination in general is not of my strengths. (Then again, I also get dumbfounded at good puzzles, so at times I wonder if I have strengths at all.) http://bisqwit.iki.fi/kala/selfcorr-geneosis-blind-by-bisqwit.zip For the record, what I did in the end was 3+3-4+3 to achieve 5 .
Geneosis  [author] 9 May, 2013 @ 2:30am
Well for the 7-1 the idea was to fall through the highest ceiling, place 2 portals on the floor, fly up and knock on the ceiling ;)
esmo 7 May, 2013 @ 11:32pm
hehe, not fail, test complete. I tried to do 7-1 first but couldn't, my unintended was my second solution.
Geneosis  [author] 6 May, 2013 @ 11:29am
@esmo : Fail, that's another exploit X) And I can't fix without remodeling the expected solution -_- You were supposed to make (7-1)=6 through highest ceiling, then 6-4+3=5 ^^"
esmo 5 May, 2013 @ 9:43pm
i did 4-3+4=5 , it gets a little confusing between the 3 platforms while you're working it out though. cheers

Geneosis
the exploit is now fixed.
Geneosis  [author] 26 Apr, 2013 @ 6:08am
You were right ^^ I tried the exploit I thought about and in fact it was not working X) So yeah the problem was the angled panel and I fixed it ;)

Geneosis
re-tested:
tried jumping into the portal, as you suggested might work.
I fell short of the glass.
my way gives me the heght in line with the 2nd tile above the cieling of the 4 tile area.
in other words, in line with the 6th tile from the ground up.
still can't do it any other way ?
Geneosis  [author] 25 Apr, 2013 @ 7:54am
Oh, well, you used the angled panel... I think that the exploit would work even if you just fell in the portal from the ground >_< Anyway I don't see any easy way to fiw that without re-thinking the whole puzzle ^^"

just did a video, so you will know exactly what I did.

hope you find it helpfull.
when you have seen it, you can delete this unintended solution video links if you like.

Geneosis
we normaly miss exploits, on our own maps.
because we know the intended sollution.
it seems to blind us to some exploits.
even after much testing.
buff00n 23 Apr, 2013 @ 5:04pm
Very cool. It requires both skill and math. I think I've seen this puzzle before, but it involved three water containers of different volumes.
Geneosis  [author] 23 Apr, 2013 @ 4:40pm
Oh, I think I see what you did to get the correct height... Arf, I though there was no more exploit in my map but I forgot that possibility X) Not sure if I can fix it anyway...
mood3rd 23 Apr, 2013 @ 4:31pm
Geneosis
not the lower portable area.
the higher side area & the central area in combo.
as described in my 1st comments.
Geneosis  [author] 23 Apr, 2013 @ 4:06pm
Well in fact the move you describe is probably the expected solution ^^ You used the left and the right white surfaces right?
mood3rd 23 Apr, 2013 @ 3:51pm
Geneosis
I tried a variation of that.
but could not get it to work.
my way, I had 1 portal always in the same place.
so less to complicated, while flinging around.
my skill level is not good, when it comes to placing portals, while flinging.
I get disorientated.
my way, after a clean entrance of the 1st portal, gave me an easier sollution.
within my skill level.
Geneosis  [author] 23 Apr, 2013 @ 1:48pm
@mood3rd : Glad you liked, I think you did it the hard way as if you portaled in the place at your right first to slow down your fall and then portal on the left to speed it up, it may be easier ;)

@Myr : Tu as joué la collection No Elements ? Parceque évidemment si tu as déjà rencontré un puzzle ou il faut ajuster la hauteur de ta chute, ça aide à résoudre celui-ci ^^
mood3rd 23 Apr, 2013 @ 9:33am
good map.
took some time to figure out the sollution.
but your minimalistic approach helped a lot.
then took a while to execute.
I fired a portal nearest to the angled panel.
then a 2nd portal on the cieling to my left, while I faced the entrance.
I kept cliping the floor around the portal, when jumping off the angled panel.
eventualy I did a clean entry.
entering the portal on the floor, after jumping off the panel.
while exiting the portal on the cieling, fired the cieling portal at the floor.
then came up the portal on the floor, by the panel.
I fired another portal near to this portal, on the floor.
this gave me as much time as I want, to fire the next portal at the angled panel.
then went through & it flinged me onto the glass :)

logical/skill yes
for me execution at the edge of my abilities.
but this might be the best way to improve them :)
thumbs up.
Geneosis  [author] 23 Apr, 2013 @ 4:24am
Good Idea, will do that ^^
? 22 Apr, 2013 @ 5:22pm
I did not solve it yet (I will), but I tried it for two minutes.

I'm willing to take a guess that the solution involves Entering a ceiling portal to shorten the momentum

One suggestion. Perhaps put a portal surface all the way on the other side of the map. It's really time-consuming to have to walk all the way across the map just because you made a mistake.
