Hello ALIAScartoons, thanks for all your amazing scripts. I have one question about the meteor one. I got a error message when using possession mod and being hit by a meteor. Its look like something is wrong with the alias_hunt file. What should i change in it to be sure the meteor will hunt another AI or my next possession. It don't occur when i got killed by enemy or suicide.

Yes, but is not something trivial to do, some additional scripting is needed.

Yes, you need to make it false and public so the script will stop for all players

In your code, it says that to disable the script, have this in a trigger:
"alias_fallingstar=true;
publicVariable "alias_fallingstar";

.. but it doesnt work. Shouldn't it be "alias_fallingstar=false"?

Bro, if you could change the radius they will land in, I could make a type of thing where you could call in demo support from a destroyer and literally blow up places

It would be good if they varied in size and explosive effect. Also, if some of them airbursted, that would be cool.

Did you use it on dedicated or SP? Anyways you need to make 2 variables false and public to stop it.
alias_meteors = false; publicVariable "alias_meteors";
alias_fallingstar=false; publicVariable "alias_fallingstar";

@ALIAScartoons - This demo scenario is great! How could it be transformed into an addon for servers and clients so that the fall of meteors and falling stars could be controlled? I've transformed the scenario code to do that, but am unsure how to manage what is executed by the server and what is executed by the client(s) to make it a useful server-client addon....

The speed of meteors is more or less random. Higher speed is more costly for frames and wouldn't give you the chance to dodge them or just to see and enjoy them. I do not aim to make realistic effects but to create a nice atmosphere and gameplay elements. I tried to use real world physics for sounds, particle propagation but the results are lame and don't work well in a computer gameworld for the simple reason that the scale is different, the point and field of view etc.
So all my chioces are taken from an aesthetic point of view rather than a realistic one, and of course i try to take in account engine and computer performance limitations.
I see and understand your point, i think there is room for optimization and improvement in my scripts, i try to do my best but in the time i have available, thank you for your suggetstion and looking forward for more.

I like the speed. I mean its at the time of the impact still several hundred meters away. Look at a fast car that's about that distance away. It seems to pass you rather slowly. It's a large object and if it would be much faster, the impact would be much much more shaky. Nethertheless it would be nice to have a speed variable for minor adjustments.

Script update only for STEAM for now.
i will make this update the public version if there not issues with performance because it has more effects, effects which i left out from initial release to be on the safe side performance wise.
I will roll back to previous version if there are many people with performance issue.

However if is all good i will make it official and update Armaholic link as well

Do the meteors cause damage to buildings etc. comparable to howitzer rounds? Would be nice to create a "go in and rescue as many civilians as you can"-scenario. Kind of apocalyptic catastrophy thing.

Thanks for reply. I tried to contact Paladin, but he didn't reply till now. I would be very Thankfull for that when you would find time. Well i don't know if it is to small a mod for that. i look on generaly one that can help in modify some things with tanks. for exampel the JSRS Soundmods are very nice, for exampel heavy weapons like 30mm Canons or 120mm Canons are very quiet. After 1000m you cant hear anymore :(
But he is at the moment testing a Beta Version and i allready repported it to him. maybe he will correct, i don't know.

I don't do mods atm, tho from what you say the problem is that the muzzle effect is using a light source which during the day is not visible as all light sources in arma, or is a particle which doesn't have the right properties to be visible during the day, in general they are not so visible during daytime. There are particles that can be used to overcome that, with testing and tweaking it can be nailed.
Are you sure you want a mod just for that? I would contact Paladin and suggest fixes, did you try that?
I think it can be done with scripting only, but ATM my hands are full. If i catch a break i will have a look and get back to you

Hey ALIAScartoons. I see you are very well with scripting/doing mod with effects. I searching for someone that can make me a mod, that adds to the tank a better "muzzle flash". I use blastcore standalone version from Paladin. In the evening (after 19H00) it looks very nice the effect when you shoot the 120mm Gun. but durring the day there is more and less just smoke when you shot with the canon. Do you think you can do something that i also see the "flash" during the day? Of course i'm also willing to pay/donate :steamhappy:

I'm doing kind of a metor rain instead of just one and the calculations are server-sided. As I modify it, it's supposed to bring farm ressources by meteorites :p

Sure mate, if you find ways to optimize it please share it with me and maybe i will have it in the next update. I myself use a different version with more particles and SFX but is better for general use to have something as minimalistic as possible so anyone can enjoy it without the need for a high end computer
