I'm getting a lot of critical errors relating to "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." This mod doesn't work for me right now.

Not sure if this mod is being kept up to date anymore, but it is one of my favorites so I'll post this anyways

There seems to be a problem with toggling the drives on and off. When switched off, they will not turn back on unless the grid's power is cycled. I don't know what could be causing this

@1anton yeah the only way to get it working would be a 2 block device, so one uses power and the other hydrogen. Very frustrating when you consider the damn thrusters already have the power consumption in config.... Just not used for what ever reason... Could have made them use some power, like most blocks 1kw say for pumps and stuff.

@1antonioorlo1 check my earlier posts, its currently not possible that H2 thrusters use electricity and hydrogen. Only one of them at a time.

Uhm sure but those 2 mods are quite different. Im not talking about adding another block that does the job, i mean the issue that H2 thruster dont use power.

So yeah the mods only share their name @Electrose

I have no clue if its possible to "activate" the power usage for H2 Thruster, it's no setting in the CubeBlocks.sbc at all so likely deep down in the engine somewhere, or in the game logic.

Honestly with the added cost of the advanced materials like the Grav Components and such, it's ok to have them like they are without the need for more power (still would be neat to have them use power too^^)

So i'd like to hear some feedback and suggestions and if im allowed to take over this mod :)

Heyho, i'd like to take over this mod, also add some changes regarding name and values.
I have 0 experience in 3d rendering so if a new model is wanted i might need help

But regarding model, i may just use the model for the new ion engines released today (sparks of future), it would need to have a port added or even multiple.

Value wise Keen apparently changed some bits and the mod has now 30x efficency :D
So lets say tone it either to 8x or 10x, parts im fine with.
Also regarding power consumption: The vanilla H2 Thruster never use electrical power in the first place, sadly even setting a value for it doesn't change that. (even Keen bothered to add them, but somehow don't use it)

I tried it too, but maybe I did it wrong, if I replaced the lines with this, the thruster doesn't work.

Stupid thing even is, since ages hydrogen thrusters have an actual energy usage listed... And i believe you have to somehow pump the gas to the engine in the first place too xD and maybe electrical ignition system.

On the other hand the cost to build is higher (grav comp and superconducter), so its still balanced.
i believe i saw a forum post about something like that , to add a energy and gas feature to the api or something...

As far as i see there is no way to get it working as intended. Seems like thrusters can only use gas or energy, not both....

No, sadly I didn't have much free time recently. And I kind of abandoned this mod but i want to fix and tweak some parts before leaving it completly. Hopefully I can post an update in january.

Going to have a go with it this weekend. Been looking for a thruster like this that varies in size. Is it for large and small grids? And are there plans for bigger thrusters??:steamhappy:

There is no power consumption. Fuel is consumed, so thats working. Beautiful blue flame! I would just really love the power consumption to work for my server.... better balance.

@MicAssault I agree with that mind-set as well and would love to download your mod if you do make it. Although another downside of this engine you may not know about is they weigh about 3x as much as a normal hydro thruster and are considerably more expensive. Personally I think you should just nerf it to x2 as effecient as a normal hydro... oh and make it replace epstein thrusters automatically so we don't have to change all our blueprints please :D

@Firestorm HACKED BUT BACK I understand your point and I don't entirely disagree. Like I said in my original comment, I'm of the mind-set where obstacles and barriers promote more thoughtful and comprimised designs, which leads to more interesting gameplay. Having played with this mod a bit I found that I wasn't using hydrogen or ion thrusters anymore and never had to worry about hydrogen consumption, negating the use of said blocks or accomodating for the demands they have.

Of course this is entirely subjective and I would never fault anyone for feeling differently. Whatever makes the game more fun for you is always the right choice (so long as its fair to other players). This is the main reason I requested to make an alternative version for players like me.

Regardless, this is a great mod. Thanks @MrHam5 for your good work.

@MicAssault the whole point of the Epstein Drive in The Expanse is for there to be a hyper-efficient thruster that makes both thrust gravity and interplanetary travel feasable. There is nothing overkill about this mod, I assure you. But if you want more of a challenge go ahead.

I love the idea of this mod, although I think the added effiency is a bit over-powered. I'm of the mind set that constraints lead to more interesting designs. Getting twice the force for 1/8 of the mass is a bit bonkers. If it's ok with the author I might make a version with just the added power (with the proper credit given of course).

After seeing the other one in action (Thanks Captain Jack) I think I'm actually going to go with this one. It's smaller, so it'll be easier to attach to ships, instead of having to build a ship around the engine... Sure it might be as efficient, or as powerful, but when your speed cap is about 140m/s (Relative Top Speed mod) you don't need to be able to accelerate to an insane speed in a few seconds, unless your trying to run...

Thanks for great mod, but i have a little problem. In multiplayer, thrusters have no impact on power consumption and fuel usage is the same as normal hydrogen thruster. Works perfectly in single tho.
