You could import your image to GIMP and then use the "gaussian blur" filter effect - this fixes the terraced look maps tend to have right after their initial creation. If you need more guidance on this, my upcoming guide will show you how to do this.

I'm guessing you are sourcing your heightmap from ornance suvey or satellite imagery? I simply grabbed my image from browsing google for grayscale heightmaps. So im not much of an expert in converting other images, though I'd like to learn.

I am in the process of putting together a video that shares my process, so maybe that could prove useful.

Just out of interest, how do you create your heightmaps? I always get the contour lines in mine! Can never work out how to get them smooth :(

Hello, I have placed them manually and tried to follow some references. Mountain placement was difficult, but there are some mountainous industries. I may try to add more in a future update!

Are the industries random or placed manually in accurate places, such as mines in mountains and factories near major towns?
