This item is a: Light Sensor

The recipe used, is the recipe for a light sensor. Hence the RAM.

See the following quote of comment of the creator (SanAndreasP) of 2018-06-22 16:06:
The light sensor recipe is not mine , blame Chucklefish for that one. I know using RAM in a light sensor is weird to say the least. I only used a similar recipe for the solar panels, as they have the same functionality.

I think its safe to say the author is not looking at your comments people, which is sad because they did not put much of anything in the description besides a salespitch and how to make the item. I would be interested in knowing what this mod specifically does as if this is nothing more than a light sensor that would still be interesting for me.

Excuse me but what does this mod do?

@nephilimnexus I know, that is why I would like to know if it is compatible, just in case someone downloads this and bugs happen. I want to ensure as little problems as possible with Frackin Universe
nephilimnexus 23 Jun, 2018 @ 3:40pm
@Ada: It already has their own version.

why are there cowboy gas people
Dragonfriend18 23 Jun, 2018 @ 5:01am
people asking why there is ram when its a video game
Ness 23 Jun, 2018 @ 3:36am
It is a shame that someone have to do this mods in a game where you can fly over all universe but cant craft a solar panel. Good job

Makes something you can't craft possible to craft. Community response-" Uhm why is there ram in it." TY for making this :3

It should be

Is this mod compatible with FU?

Anyway, you can vote here if the mod should (not) use RAM (and also wether or not to alter the light sensor recipe): https://www.strawpoll.me/15942533

The only reason you can't access a BIOS without RAM is because the computer does not boot without it. The BIOS is contained on a chip powered by a Li-ion battery that stays powered on and functioning even if no RAM is present.

RAM in a non tracking solar panel is not a thing. The REALLY crazy thing though is RAM in a light sensor. It's not a complicated thing, it's a simple 1/0 system. It's a 0 when no photons are hitting it, and a 1 when photons are. The BIOS of a computer don't use RAM to funtion, so a light sensor doesn't either.

Please read my previous comment on to why I've included the ram stick in the recipe. But I've decided to make a poll you can vote: https://www.strawpoll.me/15942533

the panels would only require Ram if they tracked the sun which these panels clearly don't
737✈Garrus 21 Jun, 2018 @ 1:39pm
RAM memory in a Solar panel? Why would solar panels need computer Random Access Memory? (RAM)

I understand these
-Glass
-Copper Wire
-Silica Board
and
-Tungsten Bar
kbrayaquar7 20 Jun, 2018 @ 8:57am
True, but it also makes sense as well
SanAndreaP  [author] 20 Jun, 2018 @ 8:47am
The (only) reason the stick of ram is in the recipe is because I just used the light sensor recipe and just added more wires, glass and a tungsten ingot
kbrayaquar7 20 Jun, 2018 @ 8:44am
Why wouldn't it? they contain electronics to allow them to follow the sun. Ram WOULD be needed to help them do the calculations (the data has to be stored *somewhere*, but only temporarily... hmmm that's what RAM is for)
Inn0cent Bystander 19 Jun, 2018 @ 8:45pm
Why does a solar panel require a stick of ram? Everything else in the ingredients makes perfect sense. I could even see if you made a different version for each ingot type, but RAM?
Syrett 19 Jun, 2018 @ 7:03pm
yes
save the e a r t h
wait fuck it was blown up
nevermind just slap them somewhere
