This shipdesign has been the centerpoint of my gameplay since I started playing this game. As my gameplay has been evolving during the years, I have seen a need to constantly customize and upgrade this design to meet my never ending sets of new requirements.

hi i am also having air issues... i fixed the open spot by the landing gear and closed up the drill spots but still not working not sure what else to do thanks

Air comes from landing gear. I already fixed this myself.

My suggestion would be to turn this into a hardened, dedicated, long range drill ship with upgraded harvest storage. Forget the bay and mobile base aspect, you have ships that serve that purpose well already. It does not need to be a combat capable ship, just hard enough that it can take a few hits while you warp out of dodge!

If you are going on a space mining expedition, don't take anything you don't need and keep it in your pack with the exception of extra food. Also be sure to take emergency oxy bottles, just about every bad situation can be dealt with and made into a fun sidetrack if you can breath! I put 4 more harvest containers up in the cockpit area which has always survived a shootdown intact. I've lost the other two that come with the ship before so I fill them up last.

Xcal, love your stuff man! I use a number of your HLs, CVs and bases in every playthrough.Please don't misconstrue my comments as bad mouthing this vessel, I don't mean it that way at all. It was a valiant effort to try to combine a late game drill ship with something you can use early game but it's just not practical. If you harden this to the point where it is more survivable, it will lose its low cost.

The price you pay for the dual functionality in this respect is worth the minimal sacrifice in fuel economy and speed. However, as a multifunction ship, I am sorry to say that it fails miserably. It is too soft to risk carrying stuff you would carry in a transport and you will be blown out of the sky, trust me. Yes, you can get away with it if you super careful but it's very risky, unnecessarily risky.

One hit from a decent space weapon and you are going down. Usually it will take the core and constructor out but I've had the back half of the ship blown off from a pulse cannon hit and came down under power a couple of times. Plantetside, I have been taken down by rocket launcher rockets from ground troops, again, core and constructor, breech of bay floor and loss of oxy station. Don't fly this thing around on hostile planets, consider yourself lucky if you make it to the ground from space and throw up a base or cannon towers.

My comments here will take multiple posts, this is one of the ships I use extensively and I have a lot to say about it! I typically spawn at least two of these during the course of a playthrough although the second one is usually due to carelessness on my part by taking my eyes off the radar or trying to snag an asteroid too close to an enemy.

First the flowery part... This is the best asteroid miner in the workshop bar none! The key is the drill spacing, every other miner I've found and tried have at least 2 of the drills too close and that costs you time while mining due to less area coverage. If it has one fault as a mining ship, it's the size which results in just a little less efficiency fuel wise and a little less speed than could be accomplished if this were a dedicated drill ship. It also needs at least 4 more harvest boxes unless you want to sort the two you have and move ores in them to regular cargo boxes every couple of systems.

Also if you add the drills you will need to set them to a group (harvest) and set a toggle to turn the power on and off for them

Did you autogroup the device menu? I have all the powered devices other the. Core fridge and food processor set to off in offline switch

In regards to the fuel capacity, I must be doing something wrong as well (would not be the first time). I'm not seeing 10+hours of flight time. Parked, with everything set to off except the power switch, I'm only seeing 15:06. What am I missing? Thanks!

The BP was upfdated with the change, but if it's already spawned in your survival simply make that adjustment and you should be good.

Hey Sam thanks. But you have 87 + hours of standby time and at least 10 hours of flight time. Try turning OFFLINE switch off when in flight. Also I made a revision to the front thrusters yesterday that fixes the glare issue. If you simply add the transparaent shutter windows to cover the top thrusters next to cockpit, it will block that glare making it viewable again from first person.

Nice idea but unfortunately the fuel tank doesnt last long and forget using cockpit view using night vision because of the thrusters right infront of the window.

Okay Lazersgm I added shutters to the thrusters to prevent that glow effect that was gleaming through the glass causing blindness, now its just a controlled backfire and not obtrusive. I also Changed the headlights direction to forward.

Yes use your multi tool and change it to upgrade by holding down right click. Once you trigger a block it will tell you the materials. All of my stuff including bases are designed to be upgraded. It’s why I have additional thrust buoy in for that excess weight

Thanks Lazer! I will look into the thrusters as that can be annoying when mining. The spotlight may have been the wrong direction when placed. I can update that. As far as combat steel, it is meant to be upgraded by the user when resources permit the upgrade. Grab some steel plates and have at it :)

now that i have had time to fly this i have some things i don't like. maybe you can fix them in the next version? 1. the up thrusters on the front blind you when you look out of the cockpit. 2. the front uper spot lights don't light the asteroid your mining. they seem to shoot strait up? 3. no top defence. i just put a cannon turret on the SV deck if that is what it is. ever think of a armored version for later game? like combat steel? still this thing manuvers great! thanks.

i was able to fit the armored scout pup into it. still a little squeeze room there; i wonder if there is any intention of making a smaller ka-bar multitool hv that would be an upgraded mut that fit in the rebar? the mut is cool but i would have a hard time tackling poi's with it.

great idea. looking at it i think it could benifit from some switches near the pilot seat. one for RCS and the other for minimal thrusters for fuel conservation while in atmo. maybe some lights. Good ship~

Hey Arch. The Side Access toggle on the main P Menu should be set to off. Also make sure that the hv and the cv are both set to the same faction otherwise it won’t recognize the vessel to open the doors. If you don’t care for the motion sensors l, you can turn off signal on the main menu as well to disable the open close which is what I do when I’m in the vessel or offloading.

One other question, i built the Drill Pup MUT and put it in, nice hv btw, but the side doors are driving me insane, anyway to make them open and close right? Currently they open if im out of hv, but close when i get in, unless i swap the side access switch, then it does the same thing outside, open unless i approach and then close, unless i side switch back....

This is a another great concept especially now that you have a good chance of picking up CV laser drills in POI boxes and can hit those asteroids at lower levels.
