What usually works is using a sacraficial prop as the centrepoint and using groups to do the rotations.
I'd cecommend duplicating the first segment 180 degrees first, that way you can remove the sacrificial asset and just use groups normally to set the pivot and perform the rotations.

How do you rotate object around a set centerpoint? I'm always trying to make round things but can't figure out how to do it.
