Unfortunately not yet; the way it's planned to work is that it'll have 2 units which 1 will be dedicated to get data and then the other will be the harvester. The data units are supposed to represent each ore so that the drill units know exactly what to harvest.

When it gets ressources without terrain ... is it then an infinite ressource cheat?or do you mean you only remove the ressources, but leave terrain above untouched, creating a whole that can not be seen from the outside and as you do not touch the terrain aboce, you still have a larger game archiv but not as large as one would have by additionally removing that terrain?
In a comment below you mentioned the terrain fixes itself now, is that a server conf option or does vanilla do that equally in singleplayer aswell multiplayer games and therefor the same area could be mined over and over again?

Simplest fix is to Drag Locator data from Inventory of Drill to Que of the drill. Where the ore is in the que. The Locator data improperly goes to the inventory of the drill. It should spawn in the Que of the drill.

Why not removing [Locator Data] ? It can get this to full autocraft.

It does work, however, the thing is fairly unbalanced, and I do want to try to separate the data collection to a separate machine to make it a little bit more balanced.

This was originally created to reduce memory usage, but now that the terrain fixes itself, it's less necessary, so I haven't updated it for a long time. Not sure if it works right now...

If the dev behind this wants to get in touch with me to assist in making or allowing me to reuse the models then I am confident this will be functional sooner rather than later. But yeah, one of the fixes another user mentioned {changing the type to a Survival Kit} has the unintended side effect of allowing players to respawn at it, which is not what this mod wants to do.

Actually I'm likely going to be redoing all the models from scratch, as well as ensuring that the thing will be split into two different systems, while this may make it a bit more complicated, it should be a lot easier to get the data extractors and then use the data in drilling centers that can extract the ores quickly.

I'm going to rebalance this mod a little bit, making the wormhole drills significantly less powerful, and giving a reason to make a wormhole drill farm, including fixing some issues with the data not properly locating itself to the drill, but once that's done I should have a version up within a day or two. If you want me to not do this, I can take it down upon request.

It is impossible to have small grid drills operate independently, the small grid locator data cannot travel through small grid pipes. Is this intentional or just an oversight?

there are 2 tabs one that makes locator data that need to be made and then a 2nd tab that uses said data to spawn ore its that easy

I have no idea how to use this mod, and after exploring the comment section, nobody who actually knows how to use it is sharing their knowledge. Guess I'll just stick to other mining mods.

Okay, for the folks encountering the issue of not having sufficient "Locator Data" to mine the various materials (other than stone), try moving the stack of data to a connected storage container, and it should work without having to build a second WHD. Much cheaper and less power consumption than building another one. Hopefully the issue will be resolved in the future, but this should be a fairly cheap and easy work-around.


And for those who don't understand how this works:


The device relies on "Locator Data" to find the ores you specify. You can queue up the machine to generate this data, and then by changing the production tab from Locator data to ores, you can then set the machine to consume this data to generate the selected ore (20k at a time).

I just had a thought. This, as it is, is pretty OP'd. But it could be given a fairly common sense downside: it clearly needs to know where the stuff is, so what if the locator data was created by a separate system; a scanner... and one that, as it would need to be incredibly powerful to locate ore deposits over long distances, is very visible and lets pirates know there's a rich target out there. What if said scanner summoned a couple drones for every item of locator data it created? That would... encourage... players to use it more carefully!

The small ship version of the wormhole drill can't transfer the locator data through small pipes. You're not even able to transfer them to a container connected directly to them.

If you use the survival kit definition, it will pull output inv to input inv, so if you make the Locator Data it will pull it into input to make the resources.

By default, the Locator Data is in the output slot. In order to use the Locator Data, you have to put Locator Data into the Input slots, then it will use it.
From what I know, this is basically a limitation of SE, Factories can't use their own Output Slots to grab Inputs.

when i try to create ore using the production tab i get a "missing items" issue but i have more than enough locator data but it just wont craft

1kw is only the minimum. The maximum to run is 200MW, so you need an insane setup to run it properly.

I love how this works but I was thinking it kinda removes the need to explore the planets. Now I dont know how to mod but I love to see this work like in ecrypton, there is a drill that's it's own block and it needs to be powered ( could be solar) and it will only drill a resource that is under it. In simple terms you would need to place the block above an iron vent to get iron and only iron will come out

Additional information!
The infinite loading bug here appears to be this mod somehow causing the game to stop loading the world, as it reaches a certain point and then stops pulling anymore RAM.

Great mod, works very well with dedicated servers. The only issue i have is that the power cost is too cheap and if there was a file added to the pack that let us choose the power requirements that we wanted to set up for the different items and ores that would be great!

Thanks. FYI the save that I try to load with it has the old Wormhole Drilling Unlimited mod, with two of the drills built--I removed that mod from the load and replaced it with this one, and the loading screen went on forever.
