You gotta check on the date when it was added, this is long oudated.

Just so I'm not missing anything being a new player, The CPU usage is off the charts and the 6 generators won't even come close to running this tank. Am I right in the fact it needs an update or just won't work again due to nerfs, etc. ?
Salkin 15 Oct, 2020 @ 4:54am
i need a update from this beautiful HV. :) :steamhappy:

Thank you TashunkaSapa and BatteryAcids! I may check into this one for a A12 update. It is badly out of date how it is currently even with A11. Thanks again all!
BatteryAcids 21 May, 2020 @ 7:24am
Great rig, not updated but so worth it still! <3

Drove this bad boy around for a while - my girlfriend called it "A shopping mall with guns". At the time, it was actually bigger than my base! (A Sanctuary) and probably cost more resources too :) But it's tough and mean. Just a bit too big to comfortably go in my Nomad ST - possible but a tight fit and easily stuck.

Thanks {SNS}HeroFallenVillain and iNick :) @iNick, I have thought about it and i would beef it up more in the process too I think. However, it fits a roll in the tanks I made so far as decently tough and agile class 2 tank. I have a new class 3 tank finshed that should fill that role as heavy tank built of combat armor and pretty thick in places + max weapons. I believe it would win easily against the Anubis and Basilisk. I do have some WIP pictures of it in my workshop's screen shot tab. Still however I may release another version someday of the anubis. Thanks again!
iNick 4 Dec, 2018 @ 9:33am
@jrandall I enjoy a lot of your blueprints, many are asthetically pleasing and fit my playstyle a lot. I would recommend to just finishing this up with the new combat steel blocks instead.
{SNS}HeroFallenVillain 15 Nov, 2018 @ 6:57am
I missed this one. I love the angles as always. BTW, your pics always are on point. I love the ones with parts of your fleet showing. Especially the one here with the explosion :P
jrandall  [author] 20 Oct, 2018 @ 12:53pm
Thanks Ninigi and Lee Andrew! @Ninigi - Hmm. I will have to try that out. Thanks for the info.
Alastria 20 Oct, 2018 @ 10:31am
Thanks for the update, as I am starting fresh after a server wipe I needed a tank again and saw you updated this. Saw Mr. Spicy also removed them on his live stream last week and it seemed to have fixed it. This is my fav tank so I am really happy to see it working again. :)
Ninigi 30 Sep, 2018 @ 1:41am
It is a problem of the installation position of the hover. If you place a hover down one block, it moves smoothly.
jrandall  [author] 19 Sep, 2018 @ 6:27am
Thanks Uberman21 and T.S. beepa!!. Yes, T.S. beepa!! is correct. This problem is being caused by the hover boosters inside on the ceiling. Something with alpha 8.5 + has caused this issue as it did not have the problem before alpha 8.5. I hope it gets fixed. I have been reluctant to remove them from the original design as I feel it should get fixed in game at some point. However I may remove them anyway to remove the problem for now. Thanks again!
beepa 19 Sep, 2018 @ 2:28am
@uberman21 remove the hover boosters inside the tank on the roof theres 2
StompGuts 18 Sep, 2018 @ 6:38pm
Great tank, but for some reason it seems to get caught quite a lot on the ground. I've found a work around, and thats to drive it with your camera tilted up to bring the front end up. I know exacrly what it is, its the landing gears on the bottom. Most HV's do not work unless the bottom is perfectly flat.

Did I mention this is a great tank? Despite it plowing into the ground fairly often this WILL be in my Cerb NG bay ready to stip a planet of all resources and any resistance WILL be futile. Lol
jrandall  [author] 18 Sep, 2018 @ 6:07pm
@General Admission, Thanks. Because you have to recess the retractable turrets, I don't think I could make that work with the design, some maybe, but not all. They didn't exist when I built this so no planing was done on the design to accomadate them. I may revisit this HV again with an alternative version with the new features in mind. Thanks again!
jrandall  [author] 16 Sep, 2018 @ 7:07pm
To all, there has been a reported issue with this tank slowing down badly when crossing over water etc. The fix is removing the two hover boasters located on the ceiling inside. It appears alpha 8.5+ has bugged them causing this issue. Thanks!
General Admission 13 Sep, 2018 @ 5:02pm
Love this HV jrandall! Are you going to update it to include retractable turrets? Thanks
beepa 13 Sep, 2018 @ 9:44am
hi thanks for reply its exactly same issue cant find whats causing it but i no it seems to be the front area
jrandall  [author] 13 Sep, 2018 @ 8:07am
@T.S. beepa!! No. I mean I can't think of anything I could do to it to fix the problem and believe it is just how the game works now. So I am at a loss, but have hardly have any time to work on anything at all as of late. I keep watching this same tank being used in Mr. Spicy's live streams and it hasn't even been mentioned as an issue. I mean thruster/hover thruster placements work fine. Are you having this issue too? Thanks
beepa 13 Sep, 2018 @ 2:36am
any news on the problem space dandy mentioned i love this tank :(
Sol 5 Sep, 2018 @ 9:36am
Not sure if it's due to 8.5 or not but got this made and unfortunately anytime I transition from water to land or vice versa the vehicle comes to a complete stop like a child dipping their toes in the pool to see if it's cold or not. It does the same thing when ever I drive across seemingly flat land or if the grade changes in the slightest, it stops then goes again.

Made a video to showcase what I'm dealing with.

Thanks BlackWidow!
jrandall  [author] 30 Jul, 2018 @ 7:44am
Thanks all! @RayneCloud, yeah, I was curious what it would take to have something PVP worthy, and I don't believe I will make something like that. Too expensive, too little usable space, and the vast majority will have no use for it. Thanks again.
BlackWidow 29 Jul, 2018 @ 7:42pm
that redefines the term battletank jrandil nice work
LadyRayneCloud 20 Jul, 2018 @ 10:36am
I really would just ignore most of this and keep making what you want to make. If they want rolling ZOMG LEET PVP!!! death cubes, let them make that and publish it.
MadScientist324 16 Jul, 2018 @ 7:32am
@JunkHound will you publish the rebuild armored version? Something like that is what I've been hunting.
Arisaema 9 Jul, 2018 @ 5:20pm
How do you do that benism?
Wish Maker 9 Jul, 2018 @ 6:43am
@jrandil -- Hey no problem. Let me show you what I mean though. I literally took your basic concept / part lists and rebuilt the whole thing from the ground up. When it's optimized it LOSES its aesthetic appeal. Your designs look absolutely beautiful, and I can tell you try very hard to make it a mix of form and fuction.

Sadly the most optimal is not always the best looking. These screen shots illustrate all of my feedback very clearly. I compared the two tanks againt a BioLab.

Your Anubis got obliterated due to the thin front armor.

My tank lost much of its front end, but still had 94% armor.

This a cross section of the tank in question, big buffer zone, room for more armor.

Optimized for Empyrion doesn't look quite as appealing though. :(

But at least the interior is hella spacious.

jrandall  [author] 9 Jul, 2018 @ 5:29am
Thanks JunkHound, Aristacah, bassfisher, and CorporalSmash. @Junkhound, where the LCD's are in front, if that area was filled in with full blocks, that would add 2 more layers of blocks in front of the pilot seat. I added the LCD's as a last minute detail thing, but it cut into the front armored area. It would be tougher there with the blocks.
Wish Maker 8 Jul, 2018 @ 5:22pm
@CorporalSmash -- Stock PI is 28 Alien Cannons and Alien Plasmas. No Missiles dumb ass.
YunggGravy 8 Jul, 2018 @ 11:47am
Great HV! Love the layout and the looks. Nice combination of looks and funtionality. While I haven't tested it against any POIs, I am assuming JunkHound is referrring to the currently OP Homing Mossiles. They are not balanced atm, many are having trouble getting to the radar signal in the SP campaign. One shot will wreck any design. So don't pay any attenntion to JunkHound. Plus a quick upgrade to combat grade would make it even tougher. Keep pumping out them designs!
bassfisher 8 Jul, 2018 @ 10:13am
Nice ships! I wish I knew someone to walk me through the process. Keep up the good work but remember it's easy to overplay games (like in my case). I'm still healing myself and looking for balance. I wasted (well could have lived so much more) without my game addictions. Good luck to you and maybe see you in game one day.
Aristacah 7 Jul, 2018 @ 8:48pm
I love all of your ships, but you've outdone yourself with this one. Beautiful design and it can take a beating. I appreciate your hard work and for sharing it with us. Thank you!
Wish Maker 7 Jul, 2018 @ 6:59am
@jrandall -- Your vital systems placement is decent at best. The true weak points are in the front itself, the Cockpit being only a few armor layers thick. Actaully nearly died in a direct P1 assault, even while strafing. While the P1 was defeated, the ANUBIS suffered heavy damage and required significant repair.

Recommendations

1. Better Fuel Cell placement.

Putting them in the rear, tucked near the Thrusters, or on the underbelly. As your HV is stable and doesn't roll, them on the belly wouldn't hurt.

2. I'd recommend 2 to 3 more layers of armor between the front and the cockpit.

3. Spread out the forward manual Gats. They suffer cascade failure quickly, almost all are entirely destroyed at once.

--

As you can see, I don't exactly have a huge number of suggestions. But I do recommend an entire overhaul of the front end design.

I took the liberty of highlighting critcal weak points that can be resolved by moving the Fuel Cells.

Thanks Xcaliber, Jaguar1965, benism_81, JunkHound, and Thrashaero! @Junkhound, how so is this so dangerous or firewok near a flame? It has layers of protection, no exposed cockpit, part seperation thru out, mulitple locations for RCS/generators etc, protected core. I mean what more can I do and not have a death cube? It was designed to take on POI's. Thanks.
Karl Pilkington 7 Jul, 2018 @ 4:56am
@JunkHound So what? Maybe unreliable in pvp but a lot of good looking designs aren't for pvp. It works fine in pve. Pvp makes the ships look stupid thanks to all the games shortcomings of block based exploits, bad hit detection/lagshots which is why it has a long way to go before it becomes worth playing for most players. People want real looking thematic and immersive ships, not boring ass butt ugly meat tenderizer bricks because everything is under 10 layers of armor and pyramid blocks made to be disposable.
Wish Maker 6 Jul, 2018 @ 9:47pm
The designs looks good, but that's really it. Unfortunately it's about as reluable is a firework near an open flame.
Aussie_Jesus 6 Jul, 2018 @ 7:16pm
or goto creative and use the console commands to convert to combat steel, much faster than using multitool to upgrade blocks
Jaguar1965 5 Jul, 2018 @ 7:54pm
How did I know that this was a Jrandall design? LOL
XCaliber 5 Jul, 2018 @ 5:09pm
Yes they added Combat steel to HV's
Sabaithal 5 Jul, 2018 @ 2:37pm
I don't think combat steel exists with HVs yet...unless they added that in the most recent update.
jrandall  [author] 5 Jul, 2018 @ 6:06am
@cLAy_piGeon, thanks, great advice. :)
jrandall  [author] 5 Jul, 2018 @ 6:06am
@Arisaema, yeah I know POI's etc love to shoot out spotlights, that is why I put 3 on the front spread out. As in placing them in places with no guns... Every place has guns on the front. Not much options there. As in combat steel, this part is a dilema for me. I don't want to release multiple versions of the same tank. I actually thought of 3 variants that would be useful, but I hate spaming the workshop with such things. So I released the the middle version only. As in what cLAy_piGeon said, that is great advice. Keep in mind, it will make it heavier and slower the more you convert to combat armor. It also is a reason I didn't release a combat armor version. It is too slow for my liking. Thanks again.
jrandall  [author] 5 Jul, 2018 @ 6:00am
@Conjurer, I can't say I tested that, but I got the Basilisk-HWP to fit in there (barely), but this is not as wide or long, so it should fit. I am sure it will be tight getting thru the hangar door thou. Thanks.
Klaypigeon 5 Jul, 2018 @ 3:57am
@Arisaema If you want a combat steel version all you need to do is take your repair tool and set it to upgrade mode. This is super easy to do.
