No, sorry. The duel mechanic became incredible complex with Holy Fury and I just don't feel confident enough to modify that or make a parallel system just for the duels initiated by my mod.

I'd not like to disable dying altogether. Swords are sharp. But for both of my daughters to die at age 19 and 17, that is too much. Is there a half-way setting?
Dratoran  [author] 8 Apr, 2019 @ 12:15pm
I looked in the game files again to make sure I got that right: With the mock duel setting death during duel is impossible and there is a modifier that reduces the chance to lose a limb during a mock duel by 99%. The worst you can get is a normal injury (the trait wounded), which gives -1 health and should be easily survivable for a young person (if it doesn't evolve to an infection).

Whichever setting is the default. I still think that it seems kinda hacky that you have to land your daughters at an incredibly young age just for them not to die. Doesn't really work with the warrior society: who would stop fighting and settle down at age 19?

That said, I like the idea behind the mod (just bummed that I went game-over), and I'll try it again with a different setting on the rule.

On which setting did you have the lethality rule when starting the game? With the mock duel setting it should be pretty unlikely for them to die (at least not directly). Honorseeker will also stop duelling when they're landed, so you could give them a title as soon as they reach shieldmaiden status. To make them receive the shieldmaiden trait faster you could give them honorary titles (for some titles this works even for children) or a council position - both things give them monthly prestige. They only need 200 prestige to receive the trait.

I played as Rurik, and went game-over after 50 years. I had two daughters, and both were slain in duels before the age of 20. Given that they also cannot inherit anything before they are adult, this is a really hard game to play.

There are enough archaeologists and historicans on either site of the debate, which is why I try to avoid this discussion, because people start going in circles pretty fast.

This mod looks quite ambitious and well done, despite the fact that Shieldmaidens likely only existed in Norse oral tradition, so I'm rather iffy about them(I use the mod to deactivate shieldmaidens for realism).

Ok, thanks for the headup. Then i just wait.
Dratoran  [author] 27 Jan, 2019 @ 6:05am
Yes, I started, but I can't give a specific date when it's done. Certainly during February, but when exactly I don't know.
Candesco 26 Jan, 2019 @ 11:28pm
It's now end of January 2019 and upcoming friday it's February. So did you start with the update for Holy Fury? Could you give an insight when the new update will be available? Bit info about it would be nice, since last post was a while ago.
Virsia 4 Aug, 2018 @ 3:46am
ahh ic so that was intended.... not a glitch then.
Dratoran  [author] 3 Aug, 2018 @ 2:13pm
Yeah, that is intended. Males aren't supposed to rule or inherit anyway, since the only available inheritance law is absolute egnatic (females only). Upon death the rulers will either have a female heir or their titles go either to their liege or a newly generated shieldmaiden with a new dynasty, if the dying ruler was independent. Either way male rulers will go extinct after the death of the first generation.

For the starting generation of male rulers every other function should work normally (e.g. they can conquer new titles through wars).
Virsia 3 Aug, 2018 @ 7:22am
for some reason all male also have norse person trait they're unable to inherite title. is this normal? because male will be useless here. and AI has their inheritance messed up.
Dratoran  [author] 2 Aug, 2018 @ 1:16am
@Virsia: Even as a vassal you're still a ruler (just not an independent one), which means that you (if you're female) or your wife will receive Heroic Blood during the first year of the game (if your char isn't married from the start, you'll need to reload the game after marriage). From there it shouldn't be hard to make your children shieldmaidens yourself.

So yes, this mod works too, if you're playing as a vassal.

To the question, when the AI makes someone a shieldmaiden: I changed the event only to that effect that the AI will make dystany members shieldmaidens. The rest of the event is still from the base game, which means that only court members are eligible (which means a player can only be targeted from the AI as a member of its council) and you need to be ambitious, just or a friend of your liege for the AI to reliably decide to make you a shieldmaiden.
Virsia 1 Aug, 2018 @ 7:21pm
do Ai will use this for example if I am the vassal make me shieldmaiden?, I'm more interested in roleplay vassal playing than being damn ruler these day.

Thanks:steamhappy:
Dratoran  [author] 16 Jul, 2018 @ 2:51pm
@jamie96969: There are two conflicts between the mod as far as I can tell. I started a discussion thread in which I posted a step to step guide to manually make the mods compatible. If there is enough interest from the community, I will upload a modified version of my mod to make these manual changes unnecessary. Until then I hope the guide helps you.

OMG, this mod sounds awesome. My viking matriarchies were my favorite playthroughs, this will definetly add some flavor to it.
Dratoran  [author] 14 Jul, 2018 @ 6:50pm
I totally forgot about that. I updated the mod to give female starting characters Heroic Blood at the beginning of the game.
geoffthegodofbiscuit 14 Jul, 2018 @ 3:10pm
What Happens if you use the character designer to start as a female ruler?
Dratoran  [author] 14 Jul, 2018 @ 1:46am
I'm glad you're interested. ^^ I simply dig norse religion/culture and always liked the concept of shieldmaidens. Basically I saw the mod Enatic Kingdoms and thought: Hey, it would be fun if an enatic, norse empire could only be ruled by shieldmaidens. From there one idea came after another and now we're here. :)

Wow! I can't imagine the amount of work put into this, it looks pretty complicated even from just reading it, but I'm digging it! I'll definitely subscribe and give this a go, what inspired you to make this?
