Unpack it and remove the files the ubuntu mod adds
eldra 8 Feb, 2024 @ 10:56am
Hey i'm looking to remove this mod from the essentials modpack both this and the damage numbers mod that is in there, but i have no idea how to do it, i've had a look in guts but it's i don't know where to begin, and i feel like in essentials i can't just remove files from the media folder and call it a day cause multiple mods might use and modify the same file

any ideas on how to go about this? is there a discord i can join to get some guidance?
DaoMinhDuc 20 Feb, 2019 @ 10:47am
Would you kindly guide me to create this kind of mod by myself? I got a big trouble with Guts :(
peach4hubby69 3 Jul, 2017 @ 12:04pm
Got some problems with it. For example at character creation screen when typing my name, can't delete leters or numbers after I type. Is really weird.

Since this font mod is the most requested in mod packs, I decided to share my fix to the vertical alignment of the ubuntu font that this mod uses.

This will also free up the "Target Health Bar" layout from any modification.

If anyone is interested, please download my unpublished remod

I don't see a difference. Might just be my poor eyesight, though.

Gulp DragonDawn 14 Jun, 2016 @ 7:13am

steffire3 5 Feb, 2016 @ 1:35pm
Thx Prophet... Informing you is only fair- as the mod's true author.

We would like to know if it's okay for us to consider using this or recommending this in our mod pack?

also if you could recommend this to others if we decide to use it?

and I will gladly delete this comment if you wish me to do so.

Credits and links will be provided in description if used.

It's an improvement and much more readable than the original Font. But the font-rendering of Torchlight II is just blurry and I don't think this can be fixed by a mod.
Smite 20 Nov, 2014 @ 7:44pm
Thanks for a classy font mod for a change. This is going at the top of my load order from now on. Mod merge packs like to stick some gawdawful frou frou fonts in, sometimes.
Ryksa 13 Sep, 2014 @ 1:12am
Please, share the non-steam version of the mod, I'm starving for this. Thank you.
gerdez 25 Aug, 2014 @ 6:34am
:d2axe: says: thank you very much for this!
Kyrra 11 Sep, 2013 @ 1:05pm
Love it, makes it easier to read for me.
General Chaøs™ 12 Aug, 2013 @ 12:05pm
Thank you for doing this!. It has always been very hard for me to read the effects of some items because of the font and often hard to tell if it was - or +.
Coffee 4 Aug, 2013 @ 10:01am
Like it ALOT - My only problem is the nines and sixes
HyperNocturnal 2 Aug, 2013 @ 12:28pm
It says "criccal" for me...and instead of shattered, it says "saccered"...anyone know what's happening?
Sir Yoshka 23 Jul, 2013 @ 11:30pm
Good mod, but not without bugs. See guywdknet post. Also there is a restriction in number of letter in your and your pet's name using this mod. 4 stars.
maetel 20 Jul, 2013 @ 4:28pm
Liking the font. I notice when using the mod and naming a character there is a little problem for me deleting letters (ex. holding backspace) where it would only delete the last letter and stop after that - then I would need to highlight the remaining letters to delete it.
Clavius 20 Jul, 2013 @ 11:42am
Awesome mod but doesn't work with Chinese Language Package.
Chinese characters are missing with Ubuntu Font, but aren't with other Font Mods (ex. DroidLight).
hope can fix it.
Drozzy 26 May, 2013 @ 12:07am
@Uri it works fine for me... Just made a hc/elite char, lvl 2. Saved fine.
Uki 23 May, 2013 @ 11:26am
I'd like to point out that this mod can render new characters unable to be saved, as changing fonts potentially interferes with the save file creation process. I've tested it many times and the results are the same. Feel free to test for yourself.

While using this mod, any newly created character whose name begins with a capital letter will fail to save properly upon leaving the game. The game engine processes each font differently and becomes incapable of writing the save data to a file which uses a nondefault format for its path. As a result, no file is created, and the character is lost.

Note, this only affects the creation process of save files.

In order to avoid this; disable the mod, create a new character, save the character, and then reenable the mod. This works because at the time of file creation (while the mod is disabled), the game engine is using the proper format to create file paths for the save data.
Sweet Potato 21 May, 2013 @ 2:08am
Sweet, always loved the ubuntu font and it looks far better then Arial in Torchlight!
dark2000se 19 May, 2013 @ 1:38pm
good~~~ ^^
Limicat 18 May, 2013 @ 5:53am
Thanks for the Before/After shot, it looks good and gets to the point with a good ammount of examples :)
Prophet  [author] 18 May, 2013 @ 2:29am
@NeHoMaR: I've been digging through the files, but can't find any layout that references that particular texture. The imageset file that goes with it says the borders are named "tooltiptransparent_xxx_xxx" and "tooltipfade_xxx_xxx", but I can't find those anywhere in the layout files (where the fonts are defined).
Prophet  [author] 18 May, 2013 @ 2:18am
@[DRG] Sharktooth: I've made a Before/After shot, hope you like it :-)
Limicat 17 May, 2013 @ 8:32pm
Can you put a side-side picture up? That would show us the ultimate differences between original and new.
Lone Wolf McQuade 17 May, 2013 @ 8:05pm
Console works fine now. Good work :D
Entomy 17 May, 2013 @ 5:32pm
More partial to Segoe, but this looks so much better! Thanks!
NeHoMaR 17 May, 2013 @ 9:08am
@Prophet Good point. Anyway I can edit something myself to fix this?
DrCrazy 17 May, 2013 @ 8:44am
Waw thx bro i have the same problem srsly this is awesome 100 thanks :)
Prophet  [author] 17 May, 2013 @ 3:49am
@Lone Wolf McQuade: I just updated the mod, could you test it and see if the console now behaves correctly?
Prophet  [author] 17 May, 2013 @ 3:29am
@NeHoMaR: That's because that mod moves the lower border up by changing one of the textures in the game. As far as I can tell, there's nothing I can edit to move the text up to match it. Even if there were, anyone NOT using Slimmer Loot Borders would have the text up too high.
Prophet  [author] 17 May, 2013 @ 3:09am
@Lone Wolf McQuade: I took a look at console.layout, it uses ArialSmall for its font. I don't think there are any mods that use it, so I might update it to use the System font (same fix as for the login issue).
NeHoMaR 17 May, 2013 @ 1:32am
Hi. If I use Slimmer Loot Borders, the text in loot is not 100% centered, it is a little down, closer to the lower border.
Lone Wolf McQuade 16 May, 2013 @ 12:47pm
I really like this font, good work. I just included it in my Compilation.

I've noticed a small bug with it though. If you access the Console and type a command, then hit backspace, you're only able to delete one character, then it gets stuck. Its easy enough to workaround by highlighting with your cursor and deleting, just thought I'd let you know about it.
nannerpuss 13 May, 2013 @ 11:31pm
Oh ok cool
zParticle 12 May, 2013 @ 2:02pm
Yeah, don't think I would have gone that far looking for the source of the problem. Beneath the hood, Torchlight is full of surprises! Very nice work.
Bandit 12 May, 2013 @ 1:27pm
Really exceptional work finding the issue. :) thank you so much.
Prophet  [author] 12 May, 2013 @ 1:12pm
@Bandit: Turns out the .ttf files themselves were causing the problem. I even went so far as to build a fresh new mod with only the fonts in it, no .font or .layout files at all. And the login immediately refused to work (invalid username or password).
So I opened the .ttf files in a font editor (Type Light) and simply saved them out again. And now the login works :-)

The only thing I can think of is that the Ubuntu font is Opentype with Truetype contours instead of purely Truetype. How that would break the login is beyond me. I guess Runic's security is pretty tight :-)

And thanks for the tip, the translation files are now included.
Bandit 12 May, 2013 @ 11:24am
And one other thing, once you finish editing everything, take all these files and copy them into the translate folders, just copy paste the .font files and the font itself into each languages folder and you just made this International Edition.
Bandit 12 May, 2013 @ 11:21am
yeah try for yourself, I just woke up to someone mentioning they couldnt log in. Maybe the login does not like nonstandard fonts... idk why it would cause a problem.
Prophet  [author] 12 May, 2013 @ 11:16am
@Bandit: Really? All I did was move the text inside the buttons up a few pixels. If this causes problems I'll remove the edits to all the menu screens and restrict the alignment fixes to the actual ingame stuff.
Bandit 12 May, 2013 @ 11:05am
Unfortunately this mod seems to break the login to runic games.
