Hi, i use project Doll House and have a tons of customization from many mods. I just want then to stick with the custom customization with no changes when i equip a armor. This mod solves my problem or i have to config every single armor?

Thank you so much, I hate fixing all of my soldiers when I upgrade their armor.

Possible issue with heroes when skipping the Predator tier to update straight to Warden.

I frequently skip the Predator tier to manage expenditure. In my previous play-through, after upgrading to Warden armor, my Reaper girl was showing the skin for the Predator chest plate (though the armor tier was correctly Warden tier).

This issue only manifested with the female Reaper. Other soldiers wearing vanilla sets upgraded them normally (or, in any case, could be easily re-edited). In the forums, one other person mentioned a similar issue, and again with a hero.

It is unclear whether this relates to this mod, another mod that interferes, or whether it was a random glitch. I am assuming it might be relevant to this one on the basis of the progression set out by the mod-author in the description.

Has anyone here (or the mod author, krj12) encountered something like this?

Can U do this with any img template configuration , so that we can at least see what the weapon or armour , upgrades , looks like?
BaronSkilith 22 Jul, 2021 @ 3:17pm
Yes!! It works! I can finally stop the headache of remembering and recreating how all of my soldiers looked before I upgraded their armor. Great mod, thanks.

@krj12

Hi. Considering the nature of the mod, would it be ok if we incorporated it into our own (and, of course, give you credit for it). I am currently trying to incorporate it into mine and changing so many things in there lol. Great mod though, makes it easier for me :)
Midevil Chaos 13 May, 2021 @ 4:07am
@Redrumm. Maybe a bit late lol, but as the OP was saying above (which would fix your issue):

HOW TO CONFIGURE FOR A STATIC LOOK ACROSS ALL ARMOR PIECES

For example, I like the Kevlar look, and I want to stick with that look for the duration of the game.

Do a search and replace all of TemplateName="Any" to TemplateName="None".
This will permanently lock your soldiers into their current appearance.

Although, you *can* also mod the From into the To category. I have to do that for my mod using his that I am testing right now. Otherwise, for some reason, it randomizes it.
LordStarkillerII 24 Jan, 2021 @ 11:07am
Any idea if its possible to have this work with LWOTC. my guess is the reason it does't work is cause it doesn't use the infinite global unlock it just gives you one armor piece but i'm not sure
Rdza 6 Jun, 2019 @ 2:56am
What about Head deco? Could it work also to upgrade helmets?
abhotten 15 Jan, 2019 @ 10:19pm
Reliably stops the clownification of soldiers from happening.
Now i don't need to adjust their looks after each armor tier upgrade anymore!
Yes! this includes all the parts that were added by mods.
o_siyeza 15 Dec, 2018 @ 9:45am
Is it posible to use this mod to define the looks whe change from a regular to a heavy or light armor?
Lightwarden 1 Sep, 2018 @ 1:21pm
I started playing after a couple of mounts offline, this mod is what i wanted from the beginning of Xcom2!!! I found it anoying as hell, you upgrade and you have to go through all your soldiers again because they look like random clowns! Thankyou for this mod!
Redrumm 27 Aug, 2018 @ 1:18pm
Yeah I thought about that but there are a few characters I actually want the look for lol. Sorry I know it sounds nitpicky but my head canon has gotten pretty convoluted over the last two years lol
krj12 (Ken)  [author] 27 Aug, 2018 @ 1:11pm
Not aware of any mod like that. You could just not purchase the upgrade?
Redrumm 27 Aug, 2018 @ 6:02am
Argh!! Its ok, thx for response. Is that possible or has anyone made a mod like that?
krj12 (Ken)  [author] 27 Aug, 2018 @ 5:01am
sorry, no, this doesnt stop upgrades - it stops the cosmetics from being randomized on upgrade.
Redrumm 27 Aug, 2018 @ 4:28am
Oh wow this maybe what I was looking for a well. With all the great mods in the workshop I often
Kevlar and predator tier armor to keep my squads from being so OP end game. That being said they get wounded they automatically unequip everything and equip warden armor which I really hate for some of my toons. Would this stop that??
Nequam 9 Aug, 2018 @ 5:52am
This need 5 star!!! Great work!!!

Update Notice: The covert ops change has been published. I changed the INI settings for the anarchy's children pieces only. These items are still there in the INI file, but commented, if you want to restore them for your own game play. XCOM 2 can sometimes be hit or miss about picking up changes to existing INI settings, so it may require a clearing of your config folder.
hellcry 4 Aug, 2018 @ 12:43am
In my opinion let them upgrade, you can turn off upgrading as stated in description of the mod. Thanks for trying to fix covert ops issue!
krj12 (Ken)  [author] 3 Aug, 2018 @ 6:09pm
Before I do tomorrow's publish, I would like a little feedback. I am a bit tempted to remove the upgrade options for the Anarchy's Children and Resistance Warrior armor pieces, and let them have a static appearance.

What do you think, leave the entries alone and let them auto-upgrade to predator appearance, or change them to static?

krj12 (Ken)  [author] 3 Aug, 2018 @ 5:39pm
Did a little more research in the code and have found a workaround for the covert ops issue. I will publish the new version sometime tomorrow, probably in the evening.

IMPORTANT: A notice to anyone who has made changes to the INI configuration file - make a backup. The new publish will overwrite any changes you have made.
krj12 (Ken)  [author] 2 Aug, 2018 @ 3:02pm
@hellcry - the logic I would need to change is in a class named XComGameState_Unit, which I dont believe is overridable - I think I've tried to do so in the past for other mod ideas. While I'd love to cover this edge case, I just dont think it's doable with the way the base code is structured.
krj12 (Ken)  [author] 2 Aug, 2018 @ 2:27pm
All customizations will remain after you purchase the upgrade.
Shaggoth (Ищезаяц) 2 Aug, 2018 @ 9:02am
wait, so when i change all "any" to "none", all customizations will remain, regardless of wearing armor?
hellcry 2 Aug, 2018 @ 4:09am
@krj12 Thanks again for this mod, I really enjoy it. Pls if u have time and energy invest in fixing "soldier on a covert op" issue.
A Very Kupo Guy 31 Jul, 2018 @ 7:33pm
Wow, I can't believe this mod took so long to happen.
krj12 (Ken)  [author] 29 Jul, 2018 @ 4:05am
correct.
blackovanossar 28 Jul, 2018 @ 10:28pm
so with this mod, the look of my soldiers won't change randomly when i purchase the next tier armor. even if my soldiers where equiped with moded armor?
Wet Dog Squad 28 Jul, 2018 @ 9:18pm
Excellent concept! I always found myself manually replacing old armor pieces with their new version on each soldier individually, whenever I upgraded armor. I hope to see future cosmetic authors using this.
krj12 (Ken)  [author] 28 Jul, 2018 @ 7:05pm
I really dont know, possibly.
Franimus 28 Jul, 2018 @ 6:56pm
If I have non-WOTC version of unrestricted customization, will this mod still work?
Kazraan 28 Jul, 2018 @ 6:07pm
This mod looks awesome. I love my custom units, and want to make sure they don't change every time I upgrade armor. This looks to solve that problem! Thank you!

If you keep the config settings as is, standard kevlar will upgrade to the predator look.
Any 3rd party mod pieces should stay the same.
If you want to stay looking like kevlar, you will need to change things as described above.
Ness 28 Jul, 2018 @ 4:35pm
Just one question, i purchase a rookie, i have T1 armos, ok, i start change his torso, arms, legs, etc.... now the question, if i unlock predator armor, this soldier keep the same torso, arm legs...? or will get the predator vanilla armor
hellcry 28 Jul, 2018 @ 4:07am
@krj12 - Yah I saw, just wanted to be sure, could not believe my eyes when I saw it :)) Thanks man I'll use this as soon as i start a new campaign.

"For example, I like the Kevlar look, and I want to stick with that look for the duration of the game.

I also saw you updated the description a bit, I very much appreciate that. Thanks for your work man.
krj12 (Ken)  [author] 28 Jul, 2018 @ 3:49am
@hellcry - Yes, I have a section in the description dealing with how to set that up.

@大魔王 - I doubt it. That mod appears to deal with the same issue by keeping soldiers with the same armor parts.
hellcry 28 Jul, 2018 @ 12:11am
Short question: can this mod keep soldier appearance (kevlar) across all armor tiers upgrades? I am looking for something like this from a long time.
