Yes, the AI catches on and waits to attack with larger forces. I suggest you try some of my new autorersolve mods where the AI doesn't seem to catch on to their limitations. The details of this mod escapes me now as I spend my time working with new Autoresolve mods.

Sorry, I haven't had time to pick up modding.
Vague? The only way to answer that is to analyze the pack file and compare it to Vanilla. Give it a try. campaign_autoresolver_mod_group_modifier_values_tables and campaign variables will show you 90% of the changes.
I mostly worked with the campaign autoresolve table.
You will get a longer better bar and better results if enemy attacks a non-sacked settlement than in vanilla. The table allows one to state how many towers to give each settlement type.
I believe this is the most accurate autoresolver on Steam for Attila, but I'm biased.
Are the changes in cavalry, missile troops and settlements only applied for autoresolve calculations or is it for stats of units during battles?
What does it mean "settlements are stronger"?
"Tower and siege play a much larger role in outcome" - is that the outcome of autoresolve calculations, or are the stats for in-battle siege equipment changed?
Basically, this are the vague areas of the description.
