I don't know much about lua coding but i always used chatgpt for patches like i am doing right now for zippy's gore mod.. the vphysics just has them disintegrate the second they touch the floor weirdly as if they were flying at mach 10 lol

If it was as easy as just extending the range at which a molotov spawns, I would have already made a toggle for it, but that only fixes one of the many problems, because unfortunately, I am using all of the functions given to me by the engine, of which vphysics Jolt apparently doesn't give a crap about.

It's scripted this way because it's far more efficient than using ents.FindInSphere or running a line trace to every player like some other grenades I've seen (wtf). It works in the base game without any problems and would work in any other Source game if it was changed to use C++. The fact that Jolt has seemingly gone years without adding in the rest of the collision groups and have only just as recently as last year added working nocollide to the world definitely does not speak to a fast development cycle nor do they seem to actually care about adding in compatibility for addons, judging by the complete lack of responses to any of the issues opened on their GitHub.

I also set collision groups on the entity that literally creates and maintains the fire and deals damage to whoever steps inside of it. It's not a "just do X and Y" type fix.

it doesnt have to be from the player to start with as long as you have a setting in convars to enable jolt physics support (aka just having it spawn further infront of the player)

What about distancing the molotov somewhat further from the player when you spawn it in? Sure it'll probably allow you to throw it through thin walls, but I presume it would still work.

it hits my character when i throw it im using vphysics jolt though so i dont know since it registers as hitting my character while still travelling from where i threw it (this doesnt happen in noclip)

Weird bug i found:
Whenever the player spawns with the molotov, their other weapons' animations will be super fast, like sv_defaultdeployspeed is set to 5.

And no, this doesn't just apply to the deploy animation, it applies to ALL animations on the weapons. This can also severely mess up reloading.

Strangely, after the player throws a single molotov, the animations return to normal. This animation bug doesn't happen when the player picks up the molotov from the ground or gets it from the spawn menu.

Also, by "spawn with the molotov", i mean using a loadout addon. I use "Custom Loadout", in case you end up trying to figure out if it directly has anything to do with the bug.

Yeah it's peer to peer. I suppose one potential way to fix it would be to do the lastinv command completely yourself by knowing the last weapon the player had equipped before the molotov and switching it back to that. Probably possible.

if it is p2p it would make total sense but also is extremely stupid bc that means whoever designed the peer to peer system didnt sanitize concommands between players

if it's the latter I'm pretty sure the reason is because the molotov calls the lastinv concommand when you run out of ammo and it's doing it on both the player and the peer because reasons or what the fuck ever

I will look into seeing if there's anything I can do to fix it but admittedly ive never tested anything of mine in peer to peer sessions so im sure it's not the only thing broken as shit

the molotov switching you back to another weapon when you run out of them doesn't seem to work properly in multiplayer. when I play with my friend, whenever he runs out of molotovs, it makes me change to the last weapon I was using too.

why don't you upload your pressure rifle, item revamp and nanite supplement in gmod?

pressure rifle still a wholly unique crossbow replacement, looks good for posing and would even be better if the W_model is the same as the V_model (from what i see the v model is full, might as well just make it the W_ for max detail) and can work as a separate prop.

item revamp might be dated now, with juniez work but i can still see some use for it, heck the animated health kit and armor has already been ported by someone else here.

the nanite supplement is a very unique health vial replacement or prop, and the animated nanites inside it are very cool, nevermind the steampunk aesthetic.
