I agree that coin on the wall is a little too hard - as in, I almost left and never came back - but this map is so pretty and fun and uplifting in spirit, and it was fun seeing Chell from a third-person perspective! Well done!!

okay after about 70 tries, it finally let me into the wall, strait through to the bottomless ground.

Seriously. How do you get the coin on the wall. HOW. Invisible wall in the way.

THANK YOU.

i can't move chell at all,
i just admired the HD skybox and the lighting (i'm kidding),
my pc crashed 2 times after crushing all the keys of my keyboard, and now i get it:
it seems you forgot about people who use arrow keys to move instead of aswd
I'm not giving you a thumb down because ̶o̶f̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶d̶e̶l̶i̶c̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶d̶e̶s̶c̶r̶i̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ you made something cool in the idea, and i suggest:
1- change the keys to move to some unused keys
2- attach the outputs "onpressedleft" (ect..) of the game_ui to a script fonction, so you won't mess up with key binding

This map was a lot better than i expected a Super Mario 64 map for Portal 2 to be:steamhappy: The only glitch i encountered was how exiting to queue crashes the game, but that could just be me

OK I managed to fix audio and the resolution problem and quick-saving no longer kills you. I tried to add some lighting when I was making the map, but it looked terrible.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback Ben24x7 !!

3. Early in the level, jumping onto the moving platforms is difficult.
This is a problem with the level design. The jump onto the first moving platform is blocked by the corner of the nearby wall, which means its common for the player to jump to the platform, only to hit the corner of the wall and fall into the water. It's not a major problem, but its an incredibly frustrating jump to make.
4. mat_fullbright makes the map look ugly
This is a personal gripe. Again, I'm guessing you wanted an "authentic Mario 64 experience/aesthetic", but what's stopping you from adding a light_environment entity to add some shading to the level.

Overall - in my opinion - the Mario 64 gameplay/aesthetic doesn't work well with Portal 2 (especially the controls, which were noticably slippery when playing this map), but thanks for giving it a shot nonetheless.

Umm... yeah, there's a few problems here...

1. The audio is too loud.
Whatever's causing the resolution problem has also set the music/sound settings to full volume. I tried turning it down, but the audio will always reset to full volume (I had to mute my computer because, even at the lowest computer volume setting, the music was still blasting loudly through my headphones). I won't bash you too hard on this, because I'm guessing you don't know what's causing the problem/how to fix it.
2. Quick-saving kills you.
I'm guessing you wanted to make an "authentic Mario 64 experience" (where you can only save progress after collecting a star), but killing the player just because they don't want to start the level from the beginning after dying seems a bit harsh (I mean, it's either that, or quick-saving/loading on this level doesn't work properly, and thus you're discouraging the player from doing it)

It took me rihgt back to the days of playing the N64 in my front room, that warm glow and vibrant colours, Kudos Sir, This gets a 10/10
Bezimienny 20 Aug, 2018 @ 1:33pm
The map doesn't change your config file. It will actually crash to prevent that, so it only changes your settings for the duration of the map. Also the only things the map changes is the video mode, video resolution, arrow keys binds and audio volume
Unowninator 20 Aug, 2018 @ 1:18pm
Maybe so Bezimienny, but it's very inconvient to force it upon my settings, especially if you don't know/remember your original settings.
Bezimienny 20 Aug, 2018 @ 1:13pm
OMG NORMIES, ORIGINAL N64 WORKS ONLY IN FULL-SCREEN :steamfacepalm:
aitaorc 20 Aug, 2018 @ 12:48pm
Forcing fullscreen isn't default behavior so it's something you did. Don't write shit like "EITHER WRITE A COMMENT AND STATE A SUPER CONVINCING REASON FOR DOING SO OR YOU CAN GO AND F#CK YOURSELF !! CHOOSE WISELY !!" and then claim you can't fix it :steamfacepalm:
Unowninator 20 Aug, 2018 @ 11:11am
Sorry, but I gotta give this a thumbs down; force-changing my settings is just unacceptable. And when I changed back to normal, it just undid what I like.
Volian2  [author] 20 Aug, 2018 @ 7:44am
SORRY I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX
aitaorc 20 Aug, 2018 @ 7:30am
Yo could you NOT force fullscreen as soon as the map starts? Thanks for fucking up my resolution and windows -.-
