Go to steam, steamapps, common, Left 4 Dead 2, addons, workshop and find the vpk name 148720126.vpk extract the root folder then find the resource folder inside then there will be a txt file called closecaption_english.txt open it in there you will find the names of the survivors choose which survivor to change the name then grab the root folder go to bin and find something called vpk then drop the root folder in the vpk, if you do it the root folder will turn into a vpk file then put it in addons but not in workshop and is done. btw you need l4d2 authoring tools so the vpk file appears in the bin :P

this is working just download the l4d2 authorizing tools then create shortcut on the desktop called "vpk'. Then drag the custom name change.vpk on it and it's extracted into a folder. just open it then open the script folder you can see the note you can edit the survivors name. If you already done changing their names, drag the folder again on vpk

This worked for me, but i want to change the name of the SI. But how tho? I've tried every mods n stuff but it still doesn't work for me. Any kind of help will be appreciated.

the video wont work.

-open the copied .vpk file with the vpk.exe (drag this mod file to vpk.exe) and it will unpack a folder with the contents of THIS mod inside
-go to the resources folder inside the unpacked folder and you'll see a .txt file, that file contains the scripts for bot names, rename them as you wish.
-after doing that, save the text file and then DRAG THE ENTIRE FOLDER to vpk.exe to repack the whole thing again and then the mod is ready to use.

Fun fact: if you did the whole thing correctly, the mod's image will appear as an emo guy instead of the image in this workshop page.

Part 2/2

for anyone who are still confused, here's the steps without the video.

-Disable this exact mod from your addons (if anything, unsubscribe to this mod after copying this mod from the workshop folder to the addons folder so there's no duplicate in your addons list)
-Open your l4d2 workshop folder and search for this mod's vpk file. Copy it to your addons folder (one up from your workshop folder)
-Download "Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tool" from Steam's Tools menu.
-After you downloaded it, open the "bin" folder in the left 4 dead 2 game files and search for vpk.exe

Guys the mod works, you just have to make a shortcut to the vpk and use that instead. It works perfectly fine with me.

My vpk.exe is'nt working, it appears for a mili second and then closes it's self or says tier0.dll and vstdlib.dll was not found, can some help me cause it's driving me crazy.

btw, you forget to mention that you need to uncheck this mod in the l4d2 addons folder and only check the modifyed one. :)

(because this will give you 2 time the same addons and conflict between them)

If the name change doesn't work for you. Try copying the vpk (after you edited with new names), and put it in the addon folder also, then rename it to names. Made it work for me, and make sure that none of your survivor skins have the resource folder with the txt file.

after the latest update, custom name doesnt work anymore :<

my vpk.e.x.e is not working it says i have tier0.dll and vstdlib missing from my files which there both are in my files i reinstalled it 10 times and still keeps doing this
