There you are. I gave you a link to my drive because I plan on updating a few things on it, so you'll be able to get the latest version. I included custom layers for the base, I think you can dispense with these.
Courting Carcass 29 Oct, 2019 @ 10:49am
ok
Revan  [author] 28 Oct, 2019 @ 5:01pm
You know, you could always go and place the ships yourself. All the information on US Fleet deployments and configuration is public and readily available.

Because I'm going through some big life changes right now, I may not have the time to make your (continually) requested addition for a long while.
Courting Carcass 27 Oct, 2019 @ 7:09pm
i'll take that as an eventual acceptance so thanks!
Revan  [author] 27 Oct, 2019 @ 2:07pm
@Fox_R: If you could do that, that would be great!

@Courting Carcass: I might be willing to make "Capitol Ship" battlegroups; I.E. Carriers, Battleships, Battlecruisers and their attending escorts. However, doing such a task for even just the US Navy and Soviet Navy would be a very time-consuming task; placing all the correct escorts and air-wings. I am inclined to wait for CMANO 2 to release first, before embarking on that expansion.
Courting Carcass 27 Oct, 2019 @ 1:30pm
could you at least try carrier/ crusier destroyer groups?
LMPT 27 Oct, 2019 @ 9:43am
I've made a template for the only french IRBM base that existed. I could send it to you if you want it. It is the BA.200 Apt-Saint-Christol. I've made it as it was in 1985, with the 18 silos using the S-3 missile.
Revan  [author] 15 Sep, 2019 @ 9:35pm
Strategic naval forces (read: ballistic missile submarines) are in dock at their respective dock facilities for the US, USSR, and UK.

I had not been planning on adding in the general naval forces of each side, due to the sheer size of the NATO forces, and my own lack of knowledge of correct formations and deployment locations of the Warsaw Pact forces.

Development of real life events (read; finishing university, finding employment, general real life stuff) has prevented me from properly updating and improving this scenario. I had been planning on returning to it recently; however the announcement of CMANO 2 (or CMO or whatever it's acronym will be) has lead me to consider waiting for it's release then porting this scenario over. Unless of course, release is still a year out or more; then I will most likely produce another update.
Courting Carcass 15 Sep, 2019 @ 9:26pm
will you eventually do naval forces?
Revan  [author] 15 May, 2019 @ 9:55pm
?

I do not understand what you're trying to say
Lamb 15 May, 2019 @ 3:08pm
If you can figure out a way to disable all those nukes, expect to get turned into dust.
PhilipWei 2 Mar, 2019 @ 11:04pm
wow, this is a really huge project. Will keep an eye :)
Revan  [author] 29 Jan, 2019 @ 9:34pm
Feel free to post what you have to the workshop; just remember to credit me with the original scenario idea and design.
Anti-Personic Bullet 29 Jan, 2019 @ 9:37am
I've had too much free time lately so I've been adding some additional assets to my own expanded version, with more leeway regarding timing (nothing retired before 1980 or introduced after 1990) and a few things that may or may not have existed according to open source information. I could upload it to the workshop so you could copy anything you think fits in the original version if you want.
Revan  [author] 28 Jan, 2019 @ 1:15pm
I've been trying to be as strict as possible about the 1985 or earlier mark, with some leeway given for platforms that may or may not be in the database.

Thanks for the heads-up about Thule AFB's EWR site, I guess with all the other research i've done, that slipped through the cracks.

I have considered doing a version of this scenario for the present-day, but that requires more time than I can commit at the moment.
Anti-Personic Bullet 27 Jan, 2019 @ 7:55pm
It seems that the 3 AN/FPS-50 radars at Clear AFB were still operating as late as the year 2000, according to the archived fas.org link I posted and http://www.radomes.org/museum/documents/BMEWS.html
Anti-Personic Bullet 27 Jan, 2019 @ 7:23pm
Oh, and if you're okay with using the 1987/88 fps-120 at Thule, you should probably include the PAVE PAWS at Eldorado AFS and Robins AFB since those were operational in 1987 and 1986 respectively.
Anti-Personic Bullet 27 Jan, 2019 @ 7:19pm
How strict are you being regarding systems introduced after the exact date of the scenario? I noticed you have the AN/FPS-120 phased array radar at Thule, but that was installed 2nd quarter financial year 1987 according to this: https://web.archive.org/web/20001217182500/http://fas.org/spp/military/program/nssrm/initiatives/clearu.htm

So in 1985 I think Thule would still be using the AN/FPS-50 and AN/FPS-49
Revan  [author] 1 Jan, 2019 @ 4:15pm
I'm considering doing the German, Italian, French, and Spanish Strategic assets; possibly based upon this amazing scenario done by Roby7979: (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1563269469) but, I may not have much time.
Revan  [author] 1 Jan, 2019 @ 4:12pm
Oddly Enough, the British retired all of their strategic nuclear assets save for 4 SSBNs circa 1985; so aside from the major sub, air, and naval bases, they don't have much in the way of nukes.
Revan  [author] 1 Jan, 2019 @ 4:11pm
Update launched!
TalonCG 28 Dec, 2018 @ 10:41pm
Great news! Thanks ;)
Revan  [author] 28 Dec, 2018 @ 10:13pm
@talonCG it's been slow going with university and real life, but rest assured that a major update is coming shortly!
Revan  [author] 28 Dec, 2018 @ 10:12pm
Yeah, PARCS and most of the Safeguard-related stuff is only in the cold war database, and since I was aiming for circa 1985, I have to deal with the modern 1980-2020+ database; nothing I can do to change that.
Anti-Personic Bullet 28 Dec, 2018 @ 9:58pm
I also noticed that the AN/FPQ-16 PARCS is missing, but it only seems to be in the CWDB even though it is active to this day.
TalonCG 28 Dec, 2018 @ 9:57pm
I've been following. Looking forward to updates :)
Revan  [author] 28 Dec, 2018 @ 8:38pm
That was an artefact oh when I was still deciding what to put in as easter eggs, and where to place them; it will be corrected in the next release.
Anti-Personic Bullet 28 Dec, 2018 @ 8:13pm
I noticed that there are two BB 62 New Jerseys, one on the east coast and the other in the puget sound naval shipyard.
RedDawn82 16 Dec, 2018 @ 10:15am
Thank you. My dream come true, haha.
Diocletian 16 Dec, 2018 @ 8:59am
Thank you kindly for this.

@Revan...this should help with the force composition for the Suez Crisis (http://www.naval-history.net/WXLG-Suez.htm)
Juror #8 7 Dec, 2018 @ 4:45pm
I the following article would be useful in providing background details for Operation: Muskateer (https://www.press.umich.edu/pdf/0472108670-06.pdf)

@Revan

Good question...I would recommend starting your search at Navypedia (http://www.navypedia.org/ships/uk/uk_index.htm)
Revan  [author] 5 Dec, 2018 @ 3:54pm
let's just say that it may have something to do with the Suez Crisis :)
Revan  [author] 5 Dec, 2018 @ 3:52pm
@Ron Swanson;

You wouldn't happen to have a source handy about the composition of UK Battlefleets and carrier air wings between WWII and 1957 would you? It's for the up-coming scenario :)
Juror #8 5 Dec, 2018 @ 3:45pm
@Revan...just let me know if you are interested in more real-world sources. The nice thing about this being a game is we can fill in our gaps in real-world knowledge with a "best guess," or from fictional movies or books...
Revan  [author] 5 Dec, 2018 @ 3:08pm
@Ron Swanson; I did not know about that source, so I did not use it; but thanks for sharing it with me!

I am finishing up Final Exams and will then go on Christmas break for several weeks, so hopefully soon I can push out my next update for this mission; and my 3rd WIP mission :)
Juror #8 5 Dec, 2018 @ 1:44pm
I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but did you use DIA's "Soviet Military Power - 1985" (http://edocs.nps.edu/2014/May/SovietMilPower1985.pdf) when building out your OB?
Revan  [author] 21 Sep, 2018 @ 9:36pm
A Couple :)

LOVE IT
LocalBuddyRemoveBorder 14 Sep, 2018 @ 12:24pm
Great job, man. I've been trying to do the same thing but for modern age(2019), I got most part of the Chinese,Russian and USA assets(city) complete. My suggestionfor the Chinese would be the Chinese nuclear force report 2016(google), you can find most of the possibleirbm/icbm bases' location there, the majority of the Chinese nuclear force targeted USSR assets back in 1985(DF-4/3/11), I believe. Again, excellent work, maybe you can group the silos' and make names for different launch sites. (Ex: PLASRF JiuQuan Launchite 11896)
TalonCG 7 Sep, 2018 @ 10:20pm
Cool, just tossing out ideas. I'm no mission builder or story teller myself, but seeing a certain couple of units gave me that thought.
Revan  [author] 7 Sep, 2018 @ 10:17pm
That's a nice thought for something I could add in the future, right now I'm building this as a template for others (or myself) to build a mission on top of.

Right now I'm primarily focusing on building out the template,as it is a lot of work and it feeds my interests of cold war era military equipment research :)
TalonCG 7 Sep, 2018 @ 10:14pm
Here's a thought for a small group of the easter eggs I noticed off the NE US coast... Can they somehow be used as a trigger for hostilities? Make the USA and Russia unfriendly to each other instead of hostile, and some how use events with triggers to initiate the conflict? Just a thought.
Revan  [author] 7 Sep, 2018 @ 11:39am
Well, the A-7 is easy to explain, the US Air National Guard used A-7Ds and A-7Ks as short ranged fighters during the '80s.

As for the cargo planes, they are mostly just to fill out some of the airbases' air wings, as many US air bases had/have only tankers and cargo planes, no bombers. I have no special plans for the cargo planes.

Most of the "easter eggs/neat locations and things" have no purpose other than to exist and look cool to people who find them.

If enough people ask/want them, I can make a list of the "easter eggs" and what they are referencing.
TalonCG 6 Sep, 2018 @ 10:43pm
I subscribed so I can get any updates as they come. I have a couple questions regarding units and whatnot, but don't want to give away any spoilers ;-)
I've onlt looked at eh US units so far, but I'm curious about the A-7s, the cargo planes and your intended purposes for them.
Revan  [author] 2 Sep, 2018 @ 10:27pm
@TalonCG: My standards of "Ready" are far higher than many others standards. Right now it is very playable, I still need to finish outfitting the various airbases, then the template will be "ready" in the sense of all the USA and USSR Strategic Assets.
TalonCG 2 Sep, 2018 @ 9:10pm
Very interesting indeed.
Following. I'll snatch this up when you say its ready.
