Though you are correct that it is far closer to asset replacement, the mod tool does not view it that way. Very sorry that it caused trouble for you.
(but, you probably shouldnt use the sun..)
(Additionally, the effect changes on the dweller version are only possible because it replaces the dweller mask. I could not do that with the limitations of a flair.)
But it's a shame that it replaces ALL hats of chosen kind, i'd love to have it as just another flare, but alas.
However, I have updated the mod, since it removed every variation except the dweller one.
Uninstalling a mod will not necessarily properly remove it. I have something built in to the mod that removes the hat once you disable the mod. When steam removes a mod it does not usually remove any modifications it did to your game.
In order to remove it you will need to reinstall the mod, then remove it through the mod configuration. Just being in your save file and enabling the mod, (then closing out of the menu to give the script a chance to run) then disabling the mod (again closing out of the menu to let it run the script) should remove it properly.
Very sorry, I completely missed adding an entry for the dweller hat in the removal script.
It is on my list of things to do, along with things like finishing the map I intended for Halloween but is going to be very late due to complications.
come on is this just me
But with this version of the hat, I actually have a lot more control. ( Like how I made the dweller version have flashlight eyes and a yellow bubble. ( And I hope to do more with that. ))
However, it should definitely be removed upon disabling the mod. It works for me every time I try it. Would you mind providing more information? ( Specifically what hat it was overriding, if you were in a level, or anything else you think might help! ) Or maybe it somehow conflicts with another mod?
@Spoon: I thought it would be cool if I added an option to give the player Niko's actual eyes. And make them glow in the dark. I would need to take the time to draw the eyes myself though. Should not be too hard. ( Just have a lot of stuff to do for Halloween right now, so it might take some time. )
@Cloaky: I am happy you liked my mod so much, but I must respectfully decline.
( That was actually the last thing I was ever expecting to see in my comments. )
