"survivor_set" "2"
Hit save.
Then, go to the plugins folder and delete the smx file named '[L4D2] Character Manager'.
Now, go to gamedata folder and delete 'l4d2_character_manager' txt.
Finally go the the sourcemod folder and delete the file 'l4d2_character_manager'
You're all good now. Hop in game and should hear the l4d1 soundtracks now, :)
you've been nothing but helpful, and i really appreciate all the answers i get. for that, i tip my hat to you. while it's a bummer that this issue remains unsolved, i'm glad there's at least a clear explanation for it. i probably needed the exercise anyway with all the 'manual reactivations'. 😂
thank you very much.
I've noticed that after installing everything from it, I get the regular "-insecure" warning and sourcemod doesn't work. However, after installing a clean sourcemod/metamod from their website (Latest version 1.12 build 7209), I get the "/bin/server" warning like in the video, and sourcemod works after loading a game! The plugins after merging the addon and cfg directories work for the most part as well, but I assume the csm signature error I get is from changing sourcemod versions.
(this is with the 8-people mod on)
1. start a campaign
2. campaign starts, activate spectator mode
3. watch survivors go through a chapter and finish it
4. next chapter loading
5. next chapter loads
6. spectator mode stays on briefly...
7. ...then immediately changes to the "Press MOUSE to play as [Character]"
8. i take control of a survivor, and reactivate the spectator mode again
numbers 7-8 are the ones i wanted to avoid. i want it so that by the time the next chapter starts, the spectator mode stays on forever and not change to the "Press MOUSE" screen. because the "Press MOUSE" screen means i have been automatically reassigned to the survivor team. and i don't want that, i just (again) wanna be a neutral observer by staying on spectator mode the entire time.
by the way, you were asking me if my question was related to the mod or just general stuff i want fixed, right? well, it's kind of the former. in a normal 4-people gameplay, if i put on spectator mode, it will stay like that throughout the whole campaign. i get to be a neutral observer, just watching the survivors progress through the chapters. but with the 8-people mod on, that's not always the case. when on spectator mode, after the survivors finish a chapter and the next chapter starts, the spectator mode stays for a few seconds before changing to the "Press MOUSE to play as [Character]" screen. this means i have to take control of a survivor and manually put on the spectator mode again. this goes on for every new chapter. that's what i'm trying to avoid, i just wanna be completely locked in as a spectator without having to take control over any survivor just to put on spectator again. 🥲
Then extract/paste that smx. Into that folder
bind "=" "say /pickbot
,to whatever you want between those quotations. Then save.
"survivor_set" "2"
Hit save and You should be good after that change.
For question 2, I'm wondering if it's an issue you're trying to related here or just a general thing you want fixed. But just download this plugin for that "lock myself on spectator mode": https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=135658
1. the L4D2 survivors are always the main set of Survivors even in L4D1 campaigns. is it possible to change it so the L4D1 crew are the main ones in their respective campaigns?
2. for some reason, spectating doesn't go all the way through a campaign. if i start a campaign and put on spectate mode ("jointeam 1"), each time it gets to a new chapter, the spectating just... stops, and it automatically goes back to the "Press MOUSE to play as [Survivor]" screen, as if i joined the Survivor team ("jointeam 2"), even though i did no such thing. this means the game saw me as an IDLE Survivor instead of a spectator. i'm just wondering if it's possible to lock myself on spectator mode without having the game forcibly assigning me to the Survivor team for every chapter like that.
thank you very much. 🙏🏽
cfg/sourcemod/l4d_superversus.cfg and find a line called
l4d_static_minimum_survivor "8"
change 8 to whatever number, maximum is 24
@awfuldown This is to compensate the number of survivors available. If there's low survivor count then the number of specials should tone down. You can counter this by using Competitive Bots from the workshop.
Ain't complaining, just wondering.
