1.2?
Asiltic  [author] 9 Jun, 2020 @ 6:05pm
It should work fine as it is
zaune_thegreywyvern 9 Jun, 2020 @ 3:35pm
Would you happen to know what, if anything, needs doing to update this mod for v1.1 compatibility?
Asiltic  [author] 9 Feb, 2019 @ 9:38pm
No
Natalo77 9 Feb, 2019 @ 8:21am
Any hard incompatibilities?
Smart Rat 8 Jan, 2019 @ 6:45am
Aw ok thankyou so much. :)
Asiltic  [author] 5 Jan, 2019 @ 12:18am
this is just like any other joy source. Since it needs electricity it is mostly useless for caravans.
Great for Blind people tough
Smart Rat 4 Jan, 2019 @ 8:15pm
I am searching for recreational for Caravan.. Can this mod will be a solution?
I hope so.. I am currently having recreational deprive from my colonist who is in cavaran far away from my base.. I hope I can find some solution. :)

I have no plans to add music
Khorne Flakes 3 Jan, 2019 @ 2:30pm
I hope it doesn't recieve music. We already have the game's soundtrack for music, and radios with music has already been done by Jecrell. The thing is it is a bit annoying when Rimworld music is playing and then all of a sudden the radio is activated by a pawn and two songs start playing at once.

If you ever do decide to make the radios play music, could you make an optional version with no sound files, so it doesn't play music?
Doc Cams 3 Jan, 2019 @ 2:19am
I hope in the future updates, we will be able to play whatever music we put in the folder.hahaha
Thumbs up

Just like TV's thy are silent
Doc Cams 3 Jan, 2019 @ 12:12am
One question:
Does it play anything in-game?
BladeofSharpness 16 Nov, 2018 @ 10:29pm
Did you know that the first radios did not require electricity? See Crystal Radio on Wikipedia. Might be cool for a XIX century colony.
Asiltic  [author] 31 Oct, 2018 @ 10:45pm
I might try to implement that soon, but not at the moment
Sternmann 30 Oct, 2018 @ 2:33pm
Will pawns get the mood bonus while working in proximity to a radio? I like the idea of being able to listen to the radio in the workshop or cooking in the kitchen :D
Asiltic  [author] 17 Sep, 2018 @ 11:01am
I am suprised you are the first to bring this up. Yes it is a bug and I totally overlooked it somehow.
Thanks for reporting that. It is fixed now
Geojak 17 Sep, 2018 @ 9:52am
hi, i think there is a bug in your mod. in the file JoyGivers you only listed
<thingDefs>
<li>Radio</li>
</thingDefs>
meaning all other radios wont work?
Lurmey 17 Sep, 2018 @ 3:14am
Thanks. I only want to edit it because I need a joy source for hospitalised patients but TV's are a pain to fit in and having like 3 of them in one room seems excessive. One radio in the middle of the room would suffice so all the patients had something to keep them occupied. Thank you again!
Asiltic  [author] 16 Sep, 2018 @ 7:41am
Why do you need a higher radius? Their Joy level won't increase by being nearby, just by choosing to listen (same as any other joy source). The radius of other joy sources like TV isn't much different either.
If you do want to edit it, go to Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\1489320417\Defs\ThingDef_Buildings\Buildings_Joy.xml and change the watchBuildingStandDistanceRange values and watchBuildingStandRectWidth to whatever you want.
I might tweak it in the future
Lurmey 16 Sep, 2018 @ 7:04am
Any way to easily increase the listen area? I can edt XMLs if it's possible to change via XML edits but it'd be great to have as a setting. 5x5 just feels way too small to me.
Asiltic  [author] 6 Sep, 2018 @ 3:32am
And it's Fixed
Asiltic  [author] 5 Sep, 2018 @ 2:59pm
it is "JoyGiver_WatchBuilding". But yeah, removing the chairs makes the radius obsolete
CrazyOdd 5 Sep, 2018 @ 2:57pm
Another reason the chair makes sense, is that there is a radius to listen, but the colonists chooses to stand right on top of the radio. Not sure if there is a "get as close as possible" part of the mod.
Asiltic  [author] 5 Sep, 2018 @ 2:55pm
I am working on another update, I think I'll re-add the chairs there. The mod menu is at the moment beyond my modding skills, so that won't happen for some time
CrazyOdd 5 Sep, 2018 @ 2:24pm
Cant you add it as an option in mod menu?
Will allow me to use the same chair for several recreations, for my 1 person base.
<Insert name here> 5 Sep, 2018 @ 1:30pm
agh ok thanks for letting me know im after something thats got some localized music playing
Asiltic  [author] 5 Sep, 2018 @ 12:56pm
Since televisions are silent, I decided not to add any sounds
<Insert name here> 5 Sep, 2018 @ 12:52pm
Can we the players hear the music being played?
Asiltic  [author] 5 Sep, 2018 @ 11:32am
I removed it, that they sit on chairs since they didn't listen to the Radio if there was no chair around. Unsure if I should re-add it
CrazyOdd 5 Sep, 2018 @ 10:34am
I was under the impression that the radio worked like the TV, but my colonist is standing on the same tile as the radio (normal version), ignoring the chairs in the radius.
Spotter 4 Sep, 2018 @ 2:35pm
Now if I can only get my Westernization Project music to play on these
Asiltic  [author] 30 Aug, 2018 @ 2:07am
The range just determins, how close pawns will go to listen to the Radio. In theory you could tune up any radio loud enough to have a much higher range. But I guess I could increase it by 1
TexStarshine 29 Aug, 2018 @ 9:41pm
the free standing one should probably have a larger range than the small tabletop radio, since it has larger speakers.
Asiltic  [author] 28 Aug, 2018 @ 12:35pm
@Love Centaur - Done
Asiltic  [author] 28 Aug, 2018 @ 8:21am
@theigabod - Sorry, I didn't test the mod enough before updating it. Your problem is partially fixed now. Well, every new build radio won't have this issue.
To remove your malfunctioning radio, go into options and enable "development mode". Now you have a bar at the top of your screen. Click on the Middle one to open the "debug action menu" in there search for "destroy", click on it and left click on your radio (nothing else), than right click somewhere to unselect the destroy tool. Go back to the options and disable dev mode.
And your'e done. Sorry again for the inconvenience!

@Love Centaur - Good suggestion, I will implemet that in the next update.
TexStarshine 28 Aug, 2018 @ 12:33am
@Silt if you want a radio that is free standing, they had those. They were basically a piece of furniture. http://userpages.bright.net/~geary/old/sparton1.jpg
theigabod 27 Aug, 2018 @ 10:55pm
Just gave this mod a try today and discovered that the radio can't be deconstructed or moved once it is built. I only tried the one that isn't on the table. It would be nice to be able to minify it and move it to another room. As it is, I'm going to have to get creative and find a way to destroy it without blowing up everything else in that room.
Asiltic  [author] 26 Aug, 2018 @ 3:31am
No. It's the same as with television or chess. They can only focus on one task
Hunter 25 Aug, 2018 @ 11:15pm
Will Colonists eat while listening to the radio?
Asiltic  [author] 25 Aug, 2018 @ 3:02pm
Done
Asiltic  [author] 24 Aug, 2018 @ 3:24pm
Alright
CrazyOdd 24 Aug, 2018 @ 3:23pm
If its permanet, make it a 1x1 if possible.
Asiltic  [author] 24 Aug, 2018 @ 3:21pm
I could make a separate radio that is always on a table, would be a single table tough (or 1x2), not a bigger one. Not sure if that would be desirable
CrazyOdd 24 Aug, 2018 @ 3:18pm
Possible to make the radio sit on a table? Just looks a bit weird to have it on the ground.
Asiltic  [author] 23 Aug, 2018 @ 11:20am
That is currently not within my coding skills. There is a B18 Mod for something similar with the Comms Console. Might be updated to version B19 some time
Vellis 23 Aug, 2018 @ 1:51am
Could this also be made as pre-requisite to 'communication' events. Know what I mean?
Without a radio, those events just appear without warning?

dunno.
Garr Incorporated 22 Aug, 2018 @ 2:06pm
Sounds amazing!
