@Lone Wolf McQuade: Glad I could help out. Thankfully that was a small set so it was a fun distraction from more daunting sectors like gems or weapons. Not to say those aren't on the way (byt the way)! Enjoy, and keep on modding! :)

Wow that was quick :D

Honestly, I do appreciate it. I'm glad that people are finding a use for these because I know that one of my biggest gripes modding has always been the lack of free artwork to use. I would have gladly accepted simple recolors if it meant even superficial varienty.
Bandit 30 May, 2013 @ 9:29pm
;) I added the entire series, as you create them i'll put them to use somehow!

Awesome work Bandit!!! Thanks a million :)
Bandit 30 May, 2013 @ 8:33pm
His icon packs [www.dropbox.com] with the png files ready to go, they are in my dropbox.
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 7:54pm
Take care :) And btw, not a problem, I like to be sure people are actually able to use this stuff :)
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 7:53pm
I appreciate you for putting up with my rambilings, really means alot to me, it is time to go be with my wife and have dinner...later
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 7:51pm
there are 3 drop down buttons in the editor, if you do not change the file name physically, inside the first drop down, guts will not recognise the otherwise perfectly fine PNG in the folder, don't ask what made me think to try that, again old tricks from an old dog --- my not be for the "not program" freindly user
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 7:51pm
Awesome, glad to hear it :)
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 7:48pm
I showed up, I kicked Paul SRs butt, took some fanaggling in the converter program, they are all now available and usable :) happy happy happy
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 7:45pm
One other thing, if you have not done so after adding the files to the correct directory. make sure you close and restart guts, it may not be properly adding the files to the mod and doing this will ensure that it has read the mod's directory and included all of the files correctly.
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 7:34pm
do you have all three files now in the original directory? the PNG the DDS and the IMAGESET?
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 7:31pm
GRRRRRR they conveted nice, can open then in file, GRRRRRR GUTS still has white box with a red box GRRRRRRUTS
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 7:27pm
the program DDS Fileconverter 2 does it in a snap ... to me it was simple to use ... life is "all good"
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 7:26pm
Oh, right on. I was typing as you posted your solution. I'm glad you found a method that would work for you. Have fun with the files and keep an eye open for new additions to the series. I started a collection for all of the Rainbow Redux series so it will be easy to see when a new edition is released. :)
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 7:24pm
I don't think that win 7 paint actually understands what a DDS file is so essentially it just created a blank file for you. I'm kind of surprised that gimp didn't open the DDS file... I have no idea why that didn't work... The IMAGESET file is a text file similar to xml. you shouldn't need to make any changed to that as it simply lets the game know where the individual icons are located withing the DDS file. Let me know if you can't get things going, and if GIMP doesn't start working maybe download and try paint.net as it is what I used to create the files so I know it should have no problem opening them or saving as a png.

timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 7:13pm
win7 paint converted to png, albeit it was a blank picture :( if you want, let me know if you want me to continue to post as I try a few other old dog tricks
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 7:07pm
gimp doesn't like the DDS or the IMAGSET files hehehe
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 6:52pm
Timothy while i miss those old compliers, I am glad that programming has become more verbose. lol. Machine code was a pain in the rump. And GIMP is a good free editor and it is certainly more flexible than some of the others. Just remember, all you need to do is open up the DDS file and save it an a PNG file to the same folder the DDS is in. That should set everything strait for you.
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 6:50pm
People might also not be clear on extracting the files from a mod using the editor either. Hadn't really thought about that yet...
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 6:49pm
going to hook up on gimp and give it a go
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 6:49pm
I have forgotten so many of the names of those old compilers ... my ucnle was in on the ground floor of millitary computer advancements in the late 50's early 60's, then moved on to CIA & FBI (federal burnout idiocy) services before taking a drug od that fried his brain back to his 1940's childhood, was still a fun guy, he would break out of the psych word and go to the strip club across the street from there and get hammed thinking he was quite sneaky lol
Bandit 30 May, 2013 @ 6:44pm
I think just putting a discription of how to use the dds file in the discription for the less informed would be fine. :)
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 6:44pm
Cobol bluckie hahahaha
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 6:43pm
I have posted a question to the runic games forum about the missing PNG files, I will let you know what I find out.
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 6:42pm
Timothy, lol I am fimiliar with fortran. my mother thought that and COBOL would be the way of the future and taught me both when I was kid. :)
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 6:40pm
Thats kinda what I figured. The DDS is needed for the game, but the PNG is only needed for the editor. I had a feeling that may be it was leaving it out. The editor does however allow you to package the preview image in the mod, so, I suppose I could use that as a tool to include the image, but that may be subject to an imagesize limitation and my preview pics would definitely take a nosedive in quality, lol.
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 6:40pm
p.s. @Bandit & Xalderon, I thank you both for the feedback, info is always appreciated ... have either of you heard of a programming software called Fortran :) ... just about my age
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 6:37pm
I do so strugle with guts, I like the old fashion way, open the file, do the coding, re-compile the file, vawalla it is a program lol...I am just getting old, and of coarse there is a second problem with the old way, doesn't work for graphics hehehehe
Bandit 30 May, 2013 @ 6:28pm
It most likely is because guts wants to take anything it does not need for the game and remove it, it must be counting the png file as unnecessary for some reason.
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 6:20pm
Sorry about that Timothy, the GUTS editor for some reason just refuses to inclue the DDS file when i publish it to steam. Unfortunately I also cannot add the file manually after the fact. I have tried to find a work around or something I can do to rectify this for some time now with no luck. Bandit's method here will work perfectly fine. Any graphics editor that can save as DDS will work just fine. Either of the two he mentioned will work and Paint.net will work as well. (Both GIMP and Paint.NET are free too so they are simple to obtain). I'm going to see about contacting Runic about htis to see if it's merely something they overlooked with the editor or if it is perhaps something I am just doing incorrectly. Sorry for the inconvinience.
Bandit 30 May, 2013 @ 5:58pm
You need a program that can open dds files, either gimp or photoshop. Open the dds, then just save it in the same folder with the same name as the original under PNG filetype
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 5:33pm
how do I get them to work so I can use the Icons? :( I feel kinda mmmm moron hehehehe
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 5:29pm
Thanks timothy3_16, enjoy :)
timothy3_16 30 May, 2013 @ 5:03pm
you are exremely intelegent and talented ... great mod
Oats  [author] 30 May, 2013 @ 5:00pm
Awesome, still have no idea why guts refuses to include it. Once again, feel free to use them whereever you like, I'm glad people are finding them so useful.

PS Get a kick out of the bonus player icons? lol
Bandit 30 May, 2013 @ 4:34pm
TY :) Ill be adding this one to the CTA compilation as well. I also figured out that its easy to recreate the png in photoshop from the dds file.
