I recommend to remove the speedmod, or are you controlling the speed of the drone? The collision avoidance of the Plane Pilot will not work properly with high speed.
I am working too on some similar things, but havent finished it yet.
2 important points, that i know from my last antenna drone mod and see you missed them:
1. open your prefab files and clear the storage with the origin position
<Storage>{X:50790.0573899372 Y:-69041.3641494564 Z:-3254.46390808908}</Storage> --> <Storage></Storage>
Otherwise the homeposition is far away and the player is not in fightingrange
(be carefull, not the storage from the planepilot)
2. set orientation to 0, also in Prefabs
<Orientation>
<X>-0.727765262</X>
<Y>0.334678531</Y>
<Z>-0.09829486</Z>
<W>0.5904965</W>
</Orientation>
if i use the prefab on the other side from the planet, the plane spawns heads down and crashed
