@ghm67: No. Any changes to maps only affect starting a new game with that map.

will this change eefect my current saved game?

v1.2.0 - 2018-10-01
* re-scaled map width only 4k->3k, 8k->6k because I realized that my heightmap data to heightmap.png script wasn't taking into account the differing size between longitudes at different latitudes. PEC is 44°N so should be scaled to about 70% width, I scaled it to 75% width for simplicity. The shape of The County should be a bit more accurate now.

Time Progression x 4 mod has worked really well, thank you @SoftwareSimian

Cheers mate, will give them a go

Ok. Thanks. I have shortened some of the cargo chains and that has helped a little.
SoftwareSimian  [author] 27 Sep, 2018 @ 1:03pm
@ghm67: I haven't actually play-tested the 8k version, but it wouldn't surprise me if the distances involved may be close to the limits of what the game will allow for cargo chains.

Having a lot of problems growing industry on 8k map. Is it just or could it be the large distances between resources and factories?
Robbo 20 Sep, 2018 @ 10:34pm
Thank you for the update, v1.1.0 works as expected

v1.1.0 - 2018-09-20
* rotate map so Murray Canal is horizontal so TpF will allow a narrower canal to still be navigable
* sawmill and steel mill might not show up in some configurations due to game engine bug/quirk
* add 8k version for those who want an extra-large map
Robbo 19 Sep, 2018 @ 9:22pm
Thanks for the follow-up, that resolves the issue. Both industries are present on the map now.
SoftwareSimian  [author] 19 Sep, 2018 @ 5:09pm
I think I managed to find a quirk in the game-generation code that clobbers an industry if it's in the way of a connecting road. I normally play with makeInitialStreets=false in base_config.lua so I didn't run into the problem.
As a quick test, please enable this mod (which does the same thing without the trouble of editing the config file) and see if the map generates OK for you:

Assuming it does, I'll have to tweak the industry placement to prevent this problem. Actually I might end up just rebuilding the map rotated a bit so the canal is perfectly horziontal and doesn't have to be so wide to be navigable. I'll probably make a larger version as well for some choice.

Thanks for the screenshots, I am not sure what the issue could be either.

I did a verification and then launched the following Free Game https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/profiles/76561197994937506/screenshots/
No sawmill or steel mill on the map
SoftwareSimian  [author] 19 Sep, 2018 @ 9:58am
@Robbo: I'm not sure what to say, the industries show up fine for me.

Grasping at straws: What era are you starting, what map seed, etc? Perhaps reverify your Steam game files just in case something is corrupt (for example, the sawmill and steel mill industries).

Thanks for the image showing the locations. Here is what I see (no mods active). Do I need to enable something?

Deseronto

@Robbo: there is a sawmill near Brighton (upper-left), and there is a steel mill near Deseronto (upper right). There is one copy of each of the 14 industries on the map. See the (new) image in in the gallery above showing industry and town locations.

@Sonio: No, Prince Edward County (Ontario) [en.wikipedia.org] and Prince Edward Island [en.wikipedia.org] are two completely different places, more than 1000km apart.
Robbo 16 Sep, 2018 @ 3:25pm
Good job, I am enjoing so far.

Is it possible to have a sawmill placed on the map? Perhaps near Brighton or Napanee, to simulate being off-map? Similarly, there is Iron Ore and Coal, but no Steel Mill.

@S.S. It's also known as Prince Edward Island.
