The curent range is from 1 to 200.
For more powerful pcs I highly recommend do not set FPS to low because this can cause some issues!
When you say you had to play with your VD setting when peformance drops then I would say that VD 2000 is in that situation to high.

As described, this mod takes an input value from the user as the minimum render/view distance and the script will stick to it. If you have some unused performance left then it will higher these distances.
As you can see in the video, the render/view distance changes constantly. This is because the script tries to keep the players game performance high.
In Mods or Scripts like CH View Distance are you setting all values for on foot, in vehicles or in the air, right?
Let's say you want 500m as a minimum and are running the normal mode:
on foot: value (500)
in a ground vehicle: value (500) * 1.5
in the air: value (500) * 2
Well, this script also takes your altitude above sea level into account, to find the most needed view distance.
