Exactly, @TheRandomFox.
No, I didn't mean that I don't like to be exploited, I said that the way it was done it was not well-made.
For example, your suggestion "+2 relations just for paying taxes like a normal law-abiding citizen seems excessive to me.", I agree to it 100%. It was exactly what I meant by "That doesn't make sense at all.", @TheRandomFox .
This feels like it was made to make life easier in Kenshi, some people will like it, but not me.
Great mod nonetheless.
After poking around in the mod file in an attempt to modify the values myself, I found that this mod also adds events for bandits coming by to extort you for "protection money". This also adds positive relations with the bandits. Makes no sense to me, tbh.
The idea behind the mod is great, that I have no doubt, but the execution is... arguable.
> *Settles in another nation's land*
> *Is visited by a government official*
> *They say that as a resident of this nation, you are obligated to pay taxes to the government*
> You: "I'm being exploited."
Bruh.
However in the case of Shek relations, a greater relations gain from accepting and defeating challengers would make more sense as the Shek value combat prowess and honour far more than any material asset.
If you do decide to let us use this mod would you want to be added as a contributor to the mod or simply given credit?
I would guess it has something to do with the pathing issue that many people have with Gates and walls. Are the archers being killed by turrets? Perhaps in some way that doesn't register to your faction. Idk :(
And the vanilla game does indeed work like you stated :)
if you do not pay your taxes they will return with an attack and you will lose relations a lot. LOL
When making this I don't remember specifically seeing something in the dialogue that would reduce the relation. All I've done here is ad a + relation on the end line for the certain dialogues.
I didn't remove anything to do that so it might be somewhere else that controls that relation decrease.
I will say it has nothing to do with this mod though as I just added a +relation bonus on an existing dialog, nothing was changed otherwise.
Good luck friend~
