To answer your first question:
If my idea were to be implemented, it would probably end up being found in ether the weapons or entities tabs.
And to answer your second question:
The music would probably have to be mapped out in the form of coordinates with the lowest note being 1,5 (that's Sring 1, Key 5) and the highest being 4,0 (String 4, Key 0)
And to answer the question that you might have "waiting in the wings":
Have you watch a playthrough of Symphonia (Not to be confused with Tails Of Symphonia (that's a completely different game entirely!)) where music is used as a game mechanic (e.g.: Fast Travel and opening Special Doors (tune of Way Fare and Song Of The Fields respectively))?
you could also have it set up so that the violin can be taken out and put away by using the (+) and (-) keys respectively.
(just to clarify: Its the number keys at the top of the keyboard and the (+) and (-) on the number pad)
