Those gems work when dropped as well. The refined gem can clean your farms from unwanted items for example. the rough void gem is meant as a first step not a final product. so its purpose is to be not optimal.

I'm having a hard time understanding what the use of the rough/refined void gems would be. What items are around you regularly that you need to have a gem that drains your sanity to destroy? Am I missing something?

can I borrow code from this mod for something? I have an idea for something that involves sucking up nearby entities (specifically rabbits) matching a specific type, so your Refined Void Gem might help me figure out how to do that part of what I want.

That small animals get collected/deleted is intentional.
As for making a config or making it an icebox... I don't see why this would be needed tbh. The gems are pretty overpowered as they are already, which is why i made them so costly.
The upsides to these gems are from my perspective massive, so getting the player to at least do a small bit of maintenance in the form of switching perishable items is in my opinion more the DST way, instead of giving the player an item with really no downside whatsoever.
Feel free to disagree btw. My stand on the matter is not set in stone.

You can only put 1 item, so it's a pretty weird way to deep freeze items, considering the cost of gems :)
Could you add a config for that then? Or at least make void container count as an ice box?

Also found that gems can collect collectable creatures - like bees, moles and birds (And delete them too)
Is that too intentional? That were kinda funny to see a bunch of moles dissapearing,while trying to steal my charcoal :D

This is intentional, so you cannot use the gem as some kind of deep freezer.

I updated the mod. Now the rough voidgem will no longer destroy bolders and other things you can put on your back.
