+1 on the sliders for each trait.

+1 on the below comment - unsure how hard it is, but would be awesome to have slider options so we can tweak the changes
AustinJacob 15 Jun, 2024 @ 7:43pm
Take your time, but is it possible to have a setting where we can use our own settings? Because it would be nice to still have the higher opinion for the more beautiful pawns.
BingoBungus 15 Jun, 2024 @ 1:55am
Cucumpear you got a point and I'm here for it.
HIM🐀 19 Apr, 2024 @ 2:35am
yes! YES!
cucumpear  [author] 16 Apr, 2024 @ 2:52am
Yeah, I'm planning to update. I suspect it works as it is now, but I haven't had the capacity to test it.
Ananzi 15 Apr, 2024 @ 10:58am
Will there be a 1.5 update? please PLEASE? i love this mod too much to let it go.
cucumpear  [author] 25 Jul, 2023 @ 2:32am
I had to quickly look into the code because I didn't actually know/remember how that works.
Short answer yes.

Long answer: It doesn't directly affect genes, but genes and traits are combined to the pawn's beauty stat. It doesn't matter if the pawn is genetically (un)attractive and/or has any of the pretty spectrum traits. How other pawns react to them is just due to the final score. There's no dynamic scaling so +6 and -6 are the most opinion offset you will get.
cant aim 24 Jul, 2023 @ 7:08pm
Does this affect the unattractive genes

I wonder if it would be possible to scale this by colony wealth? (ie. the same thing that scales the expectations)

In a poor colony, no one cares how you look, if you can farm or fight off wild bears, you're good.

If everyone is living the high life, the maybe looks start to matter more.
ent-2-ene 17 Aug, 2022 @ 9:50am
What you guys can do to customise the amounts, is that you can go in the mod's folder, go to Defs, then ThoughtDefs, where you can find an .xml file. There you can tweak the amount you want.
CaptainKampfkeks 2 Jun, 2022 @ 8:01am
I also found the debuffs to be rather... steep. I'd like to join the line and ask about progress for costumisation. Interest in this mod is definitely there. :winter2019happysnowman:
Anthroperator 4 Mar, 2022 @ 10:11am
This mod should be called "any port in a storm"
Tutsi Noncombatant 12 Feb, 2022 @ 9:51am
i think a scale for this would be cool if your still updating this.
newcaljustin 22 Oct, 2021 @ 12:28pm
Hi! I wrote to you a couple weeks ago about a possible change to your mod. Has there been any progress made?
gnatters 11 Sep, 2021 @ 7:23pm
I really like the idea of this, but I would also like the ability to scale them myself. I don't mind the numbers being kind of big, but I don't want them to be so huge that they're overwhelming. -20 to +20, worst to best. I'm subbing, but not using it just yet; if there comes about a way to alter the buffs/penalties (halving them would be a good idea, as someone below me said), I'll use it forever!
cucumpear  [author] 11 Sep, 2021 @ 3:57pm
Maybe I can finally figure out how mod settings work. If I can I'll do it that way.
newcaljustin 11 Sep, 2021 @ 2:03pm
Hi! Big fan of your mod! -40 for staggeringly ugly is just say too low an opinion debuff. However I found myself missing some of the social volatility from the base game. I know when asked previously about a sliding scale you said you didn't have the time to implement it. But I was wondering if you could instead make a variant mod that instead halves the opinion values from the basegame (beautiful goes from +40 to +20, creepy breathing from -25 to -12). I figured that reposting the mod with altered values instead of rebuilding it would be simpler on your end.
ephemeraltoast 31 Aug, 2021 @ 7:29am
Finally some damn sanity, bless you.
JACK 13 Aug, 2021 @ 1:11pm
thanks so much for this. it especially drove me nuts when a colonist would get a scar defending the base and then suddenly everyone hates them even though they've always been a valued member of society. :/ basically this is just what the doctor ordered!
Zuthal 23 Jan, 2021 @ 1:44pm
Thank you for this mod! The magnitude of how important the vanilla beauty stat is always bugged me. You wouldn't treat your sibling like a stranger just because they are ugly, or a stranger like your sibling just because they are beautiful! (both sibling and one point of beauty give 20 opinion)

Also if you are able to, it would be cool if certain pawns (e.g. ones with Bloodlust or any other positive combat trait, who have a combat-related background or maybe ones with passion in shooting or melee) had instead of a slight negative a slight positive opinion for disfigured. Instead of "Ew, look how they messed up your face" going "Damn, cool scar bro! How'd you get it?"
Videogameplayer 17 Aug, 2020 @ 8:55am
This mod makes sense since a colonist's priority should not be to look the most incredibly good looking, but in fact to not be conquered by robots or tribals. I on the other hand think the buffs/debuffs have been reduced to becoming borderline irrelevant. If others were okay with it a +/- of 2 or 3 would be better. Ideally there would be mod options but I appreciate that takes time you said you don't have atm. Either way, thanks for the mod :)
[☆] AresOfThrace 6 Aug, 2020 @ 7:34am
Thanks for creating this. Kinder Colonists was a must have imo.
rover 29 Jul, 2020 @ 5:03pm
no worries, that's cool. thanks again.
cucumpear  [author] 29 Jul, 2020 @ 12:24pm
I don't currently have the time to implement something like that, sorry.
rover 29 Jul, 2020 @ 11:14am
hey just wondering if it is possible to implement like a sliding scale mod option, or to just input my own opinion values? I suppose I could just try modding my own preferences myself, but just thought to ask. thanks for everything.
Enlonwhite 16 Jun, 2020 @ 11:50am
I was just trying to compare mod affects and realized if yours does scars I had a reduntant mod that did only scars, yours is better if it reduces scar penalties.

Disfigured could mean scars which is why i asked to be sure.
cucumpear  [author] 16 Jun, 2020 @ 9:30am
Yes, I should probably update the description. I believe some of those terms have recently changed ^^
Enlonwhite 15 Jun, 2020 @ 7:26pm
Disfigured is meaning the scars and such right?
cucumpear  [author] 13 Jun, 2020 @ 2:11pm
Glad you figured out what's going on, thank you for letting me know! ^^
Gunseeker 12 Jun, 2020 @ 11:52am
Update: I disabled "SF Grim Reality" and it started working again.
Gunseeker 12 Jun, 2020 @ 11:43am
It looks like the mod isn't working due to an incompatability with an other mod, as it will work if every mod is disabled. I don't really know how to send a load order, so do you know of any incompatible mods?
cucumpear  [author] 12 Jun, 2020 @ 4:19am
Well, there were minor changes but nothing that should break the mod. I've cleaned up the code a bit and updated.
cucumpear  [author] 12 Jun, 2020 @ 3:58am
Unless you have other mods changing the same things, load order shouldn't matter. You can always load it last to see if that changes things (if it does, some other mod overrides the tweaks).
But I haven't personally played with the most recent update. I'll check if anything has changed that would break the mod.
Gunseeker 11 Jun, 2020 @ 9:54pm
This mod isn't working for me. Is there a specific required load order?
~Max~ 24 Mar, 2020 @ 8:31am
Sorry if I come over a aggressive, that is not my intention. And thank you for adding this information on the mod page.
cucumpear  [author] 24 Mar, 2020 @ 8:27am
You don't, The only thing you have to do is not be super aggressive about asking. Turns out modders are people too who are sick or busy.
~Max~ 24 Mar, 2020 @ 8:15am
So you're basically saying I need to install the mod and find out for myself what it does?
You know that is a bit problematic for people who already have a large mod list which may include mods that overlap with this one?
Aleksander Drako 24 Mar, 2020 @ 7:49am
Quite a lot, you have a glimpse of that on the mod Thumbnail (or how to call it).
for example Beautiful = +40 => +6
~Max~ 21 Mar, 2020 @ 9:21am
reduces by how much? what are the new base values?? this is stuff I want to know when checking out mods.
cucumpear  [author] 21 Mar, 2020 @ 8:57am
"Reduces the opinion offset for disfigured, pretty, beautiful, ugly, staggeringly ugly, annoying voice, and creepy breathing."
~Max~ 21 Mar, 2020 @ 7:38am
Can you tell us what the mod actually does? I don't like getting mods that I think I like but have no proper description of the changes they make.
Lee Meowth 26 Feb, 2020 @ 3:26am
or being near to beautiful causes berserk because they force themselves...
Lee Meowth 26 Feb, 2020 @ 3:23am
Can you imagine being staggering ugly does psychic shock to enemies and goes berserk if they get to close? I would like to be ugly if it benefits my combat prowes in exchange of social. I wouldn't mind if it kill the enemies. kinda op but the idea of being a medusa is really appealing.
Lee Meowth 26 Feb, 2020 @ 3:17am
@Space Wizard Federation I like that Idea, a trait having a battle scar, it's like transhumanist but instead he want scars, that boost morale to both melee and range fighters, or increases their toughness everytime they have scar... Imagine a bloodlust masochist brawler that also in pain and happy and more tougher.

Or being staggering ugly that even the enemy cowers in fear, or a 15% chance to stun an enemy by just getting 2 tiles close to it...

Or having a beautiful colonist adds more raid points like Helen of Troy.
Or having a terrible people like a pyomaniac, cannibals, and psycopath that may lower the raid points for being notorious.

people who are into disfigured people has mood buff if getting paired...

If only I got the talent to make a trait mods i would, but I am just a dumdum.
SALTY! 16 Jan, 2020 @ 4:54pm
Thank you it's so annoying that being beautiful automatically makes you better than being someone's mother. And, you saved me, but oh my god did you have to get disfigured doing it?
Local Snorlax 18 Jan, 2019 @ 7:49pm
There would likely be cases where 'Disfigured' flips onto its back and does as current culture does, people are attracted to scars. Sure if your missing over half your nose and thats all scar tissue, its a bit off-putting, but a scratch scarnwould likely attract instead of repulse some people.

So, maybe it would be better to make the disfigued status take a lot more damage to even pop up, or even be removed all together.
Enlonwhite 25 Oct, 2018 @ 11:49pm
I really like this idea, I have met a few people in real life with some of these issues, like disfigured, and even one with what could be called creepy Breathing.
But after learning about them most of the time it was things they could not help, medical so i got used to it, but dont get me wrong still a little weird but they where cool people.
jpinard 24 Oct, 2018 @ 12:17am
Matt - did you actually enable it in Rimworld to? Just subscribing to it here won't do it.
Mattyboy0066 23 Oct, 2018 @ 7:54pm
so... one of my colonists has staggeringly uggly and it applies a -30 social thing despite having the mod installed?
