What I mean about the face-mask cosmetics is that when they hide the character’s appearance, they kinda just make them really generic. At least without them they look kinda unique.

All I am saying is that the hat is way too freaking large for the engineer and I think many other people would agree that it looks quite jarring.
And yes, certain aspects of this game where better before I started playing.

1/2 I have been playing tf2 for 7 years now and to be honest no, I don't remember a time when the characters looked like they had an interesting personality.
I remember when there were far less cosmetics, and yeah the more they add the more ones there are going to be that you won't like personally, but acting as if tf2 at some point lost all character is pretty weird. If a cosmetic looks bad to me I don't wear it, and very few cosmetics are so widespread that you’re likely to see many other players wearing them either. It's all optional personalisation.

2/2 I mean this being a Halloween item, the first Halloween set for the engineer turned him into a fly, like that seems more out of "personality" that a cowboy themed set for the Texas guy who got a cowboy hat as like his 4th cosmetic.
And yeah lime paint is pretty ugly imo, but there have been obnoxiously painted items for a very long time. I mean your mercenary is from 2015, so unless you are commenting on an alt account, are you saying the game was better before you had played it? I mean the war pig is one of the hats I think of for obnoxious lime paint and that came out 6 years ago. Back in 2009 you could have a lime cowoby hat.
