The only complaint I had is a bit of a typo on the last Furnace Fun question, "How many bears fit in there?" is the original question, the answer is 4, because 3 kids + boggy. But here, it's "How many kids fit in there?" and the answer was still 4. Which I assumed was a twist on the original question, but apparently not! Unless this is a super trick question that I misunderstood.
Aside from that, I've nothing but praise. Yes, the boss was brutal. I still enjoyed it. (Definitely made easier with the time stop hat)
....other than that though this is pretty nice
and I am not ashamed as that jiggy is bullshit please never lock half the stages behind a bullshit challenge again
The on;y suggestions I have are
1. Make Bob a tad less random, I could only beat him by cheating a bit
2. Slow Boggy down a little. Unless there's some special tactic for the second race I don't know about, that was easily one of the hardest jiggies
Bob was a really cool character and boss fight but I agree that he is too random during his sliding attack. After losing a bunch I switched to the projectile badge and he died from only 2 hits from a fully charged beam! Much easier but It was kinda glitchy though,
Thank you so, so, so much for making this level!
I know you must have put a lot of work into making that boss, but I'm sorry, when most of the kills I had are when the giant, unjumpable ice block decides that, after making it rain and producing a shockwave/second, suddenly decides it wants to ram me at such a speed, even Sonic would tell him to 'chill', then there's a problem. I just think you should take him down a bit. Make his TWELVE ice skating phases less long and grueling to survive. Give him a pause before he slides again after the shockwaves. Or heck, throw a heart pon between phases. C'mon, even Death Wish bosses give heart pons ! I did beat him, but I had to cheat a little, by using a mod magnet badge to resplendish my health. And even then, I ended up at 1 HP !
...
Okay, I'm done. Other than that little 'peak' of difficulty, be very proud of what you've made, because it was fantastic to play ! Thank you again for taking the time to make this, and hope to hear more of you soon !
All in all, this was an adventure I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish !
...
With ONE exception. And that's Bob.
Whichi is a crying shame, because in concept, it's a really good job. Since destroying the snowmen was so easy this time around, it made sense to add a little bit more to the mission. And Bob looks like he would fit right in a Banjo-Kazooie game, with his 'cool' puns. His music is a fine tune as well, kudos to Adam for that. Finally, he's all original !
So, what's wrong with him ? He's TOO HARD ! I can understand that a challenge was required here, but the thing is, contrary to the Ice Girl race, this didn't feel like something I could get through with skills. It was all luck. Nearly 80% of the times I got hit was because he'd suddenly bounce in my direction in an instant, and it felt cheap. The Time Stop Hat only helped so much, and instead, I had to rely on the Ice Hat and its invincibility.
(To be concluded...)
Oooh, those crocodile heads were such a pain to keep in line for the christmas lights to pass, but it was all a matter of rhythm ! The tree was also quite hard to climb, might I suggest a ladder ? ;)
The races were great too ! The first one was a breeze, once you hop on that scooter, it's a smooth ride. But the second one, oh boy ! It took me TWO HOURS to finally get that polar bear to finally eat his words ! Many screams were uttered, but what an amazing feeling it was to see that jiggy appear at last. That's how you make a challenge !
Speaking of challenges, the Bottles Courses were very well-crafted, and I'd say the highlight of the game. It was tough, but fair. Harder than the main game, but definitely more forgiving than Death Wish. Having Bottles egg you on to be the next collectible mascot was really sweet. And that little quip from Gruntilda was very true. I've seen the footage, and I am not ready for that final boss !
(To be continued...)
I played your mod just yesterday, in a five-hour mad dash. See, I've never played any of the Banjo-Kazooie games before, but I've been interested ever since they assaulted a dog and a duck (if you know what I mean). So, when I saw that I could experience part of it here, I immediately downloaded it.
And, I've got to say... this might be one of the best mods I've ever played here, a contender for best even. Jamming to the original music, having the original characters speaking to you, all the missions plus a couple of new ones, even getting the mighty Ice Key at the end ! It's all great stuff.
The collectibles were everywhere, man ! Getting everything was smooth, basic instinct, but still required to look for the stuff. Those Mumbo Tokens were no joke !
(To be continued...)
It's hard, very hard, but not impossible. It took me TWO HOURS of sweat and tears, but I did it. Here's a couple of tips :
-Train yourself to perfect those dive boosts (just like Gruntilda said). They are IMPERATIVE to get ahead of Boggy, especially in the last legs.
-Always slide on the first slope, it'll give you a good boost to start. In fact, if you see a slope going down, try sliding. The one on the cliff is hard to master, but if you do it correctly, you'll get a huge advantage.
-If you see Boggy trying to pass you, put yourself in front of him, and he'll push you along with him. Very useful for the first slope you have to climb, where diving doesn't help.
-Know when to boost, and when not to. If you boost every time, you'll go too far, and lose time.
-On the last slope just before the finish line, double jump and dive to dash to the goal.
Hope this helps !
