Not only do updates revert all the manual copying, but for many people it's too much effort in the first place.
say me when you done :)
In this case, I could borrow from SixStringSamurai, and say that it's better to have more than less - give it the temple's benefits and the culture, and the resource boost (perhaps lessen the amount of resources?) the penalty could come in the form of a higher maintinence cost or take longer to build than standard which makes having them more of a commitment.
I am going to work on my own civ after BNW comes out, it'd be great if by then you could assist me with some of the basics!
I really like the 2 religions idea, I think this maximizes the fun of G&K
Then of course simple, sweet, and overpowered: 10% food carried over is great as it allows one to choose other interesting options instead of always food bonus.
@Vilia The Shark You may have noticed that making a balanced civ is rather hard. What is balance? If you weren't able to best Japan, would the UA then be useless? Also, is a 10% change really that game changing? You were in the medieval age I guess, the combat strength would be like 18, so they'd lose 1,8 points. Not sure how everything is calculated, though.
If it replaces the Temple, and it would still require one of the four resources, would it still be appropriate? Temple has +2 Faith, this building has +1 Faith and Culture. You could consider these "losses" to be penalties, to balance this civ because of the supposedly strong UA.
I could make it replace the Temple, still require one of the nearby resources as a penalty, but give it +2 Faith and +1 Culture. The Actual Faith "profit" may very well be zero as you wouldn't be able to make the UB in every City, although you'd gain Culture. A lot of options, but not sure what to do.
With only two stacks of T&A, I was able to give a tech equal rival, Japan, hell in combat. Against one of the rougher civs default to the game, I was wasting him away; This may be due to T&A, but may also be a result of poor AI or luck on my part, so more testing needs to be done.
The CS bonus is not incredibly impactful, but if this is appropriate in a historical sense, it could fit in as flavor.
The UB not replacing anything is untidy, and should probably have it's resource-boosting added to a temple replacement, you could increase maintinence or the cost in hammers if you feel the earlier tech start would be too much.
I enjoy the playstyle, the cheap pikemen replacement with a religious building focus is quite a joyride with Holy Warriors. I will be playing them more and will give a better educated opinion on the UA with more time.
The 30% weakness in the end was the only UA effect till V3, though.
I had the CS bonus set on 10% at first, but it seemed like it was rather useless. If you have 90 points, you'd get 9 points. You probably don't really need that at that point. If your influence is low, you'd get a low amount, so that doesn't really help you a lot. Last time I checked you can't sell defensive buildings, so you can't build them over again.
Well, I hope you share your findings with me regarding this :)
Gonna have to play a few games with them to see if I'm just overestimating the impact.
- Colours changed to Green/Black. I'll not change it from now on.. I think.. :P
- Expanded Trait: Increase your influence over City States by building Defensive Buildings! Force them to respect or fear you by building mighty Walls and Castles!
Don't like the changes? Download Version 2 manually; link is in description, should be easy to find. Instructions as well.
HAVE FUN!
I'm looking forward to the color change, is it pretty damn dificult?
You´ll notice that there aren´t many diplomacy effect. If you want to add more of these effects, you need to be familiar with .lua modding and I´m not familiar with that xD Furthermore, it might cause compatibility problems with other mods, but I´m not sure whether that´s still the case.
I didn´t define any special music, which means it probably has default music.
It'd be *tough* to get the right music, as all the music in the game have very similar production values. However... Romanian music=Gypsy, so I see a huge, huge potential with this.
A documentary with amazing gypsy music in it would be Lotchka Drom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv1y5PNqsm4
As it has no copyright issues with Youtube, I see no reason why it couldn't be applied for a Civ 5 mod!
I'll keep thinking on Vlad's VIP trait for Diplomacy.... It's difficult as we need something in league with Fear without mucking with making our own. I wish I was better engrained in this modding community or I'd learn how to do it myself and help ya out in a more real way.
Just to clear it up: You were able to write the 5% reduction for his trait- did you take this from a city-state or something? If there's a list of all available traits beyond vanilla Leaders' please share with me and then we can make it happen!
Also, I'm not sure if adding war music will cause compatibility issues. Leugi doesn't mention any problems you may encounter if you add war music in his mods, so that's a good sign :D
It'll take some time to figure out how to add music, but I think I can do it.
One last question, if you wanted to make a Transylvanian mod, which leader would you choose?
Though the bird would actually be Black and the background Green- I think either way would be the most original (compared to other civs) ---
Regarding Austria: True that, I never liked Austria so this is probably why I suggested it in the first place.... If only there was a more negative approach "City-states that Fear you will be annexable" hahaha.... No one likes the pike after all :)
Changing the colours takes some time and I recently changed them. When I'm in a good mood, I'll try to change it for you. I need to remake the icons again etc.
Oh yes, can you provide me with the exact colours of Wallachia? I can't find them. A flag or something.
@Great Khan I've added some dialogues and tested it, but it didn't appear so far. I think I know what the problem is, but he doesn't always say this. He usually says the "standard" lines.
Things I probably change:
- Fix and add some dialogue lines
- Change the colours once again
- I'll try to add some music, then
This, however, may not happen soon since I'm currently in a lazy state =D
Something else I really REALLY hope you decide to change: Green bird, Black Background --- This is Wallachia's true colors.
By the way.... I'm related to them bastards so i've always had a mild obsession with their history.
