STRONK WALLACHIA STRONK! STRONKSTRONKSTRONK!
MadamRose 12 Aug, 2014 @ 1:31pm
Fair enough.
DJSHenninger  [author] 12 Aug, 2014 @ 9:52am
Yeah except I just can't make 3D things. I can add music, but I need to know what kind of music would be appropriate. Any audio updates aren't high on my list since I rarely play with sound turned on.
MadamRose 11 Aug, 2014 @ 9:49am
It'd be sweet if more of these custom civs had voice acting, music, and animation. I'd volunteer to voice act, definitely.
DJSHenninger  [author] 13 Feb, 2014 @ 9:49am
@Vaderbot Yeah, at some point :P It's one of my planned civilizations. But first, I want to update my existing ones. Plus I don't have a lot of time anymore, unfortunately.
CaptnKristmas 12 Feb, 2014 @ 2:51pm
You think you could do a Romania mod at some point? Would love it!
DJSHenninger  [author] 29 Jan, 2014 @ 11:21am
@sevenbillionjedi There isn't. You may see one in the future but currently I don't feel like modding anything for a while. Perhaps in the future.
JediLordNathan 29 Jan, 2014 @ 10:06am
Cannot set to vanilla is there a sepperate Vanilla version
DJSHenninger  [author] 28 Nov, 2013 @ 9:29am
@Riso I guess I can do that, except I don't think copying/pasting a couple of files would be too hard lol. I currently don't have plans for this mod, perhaps I'll change the art a bit so that the colours match and it doesn't look like a bunch of random icons :)
Riso 28 Nov, 2013 @ 7:10am
Can you please make a dedicated version just for vanilla?

Not only do updates revert all the manual copying, but for many people it's too much effort in the first place.
DJSHenninger  [author] 7 Nov, 2013 @ 12:48am
@Praylak Yeah, well, I don't really care about the music. I always have it turned off :P If it really bothers people, I could change it, but it's not really a priority for me.
Praylak 6 Nov, 2013 @ 9:48am
Only the title song repeatedly plays for music while playing this civ. I looked in the civ xml and found you haven't set a sountrack tag for them yet. I set it to Austria, figure it was the closest thing, or maybe Englands soundtrack? Now music tracks play and cycle normally. Something you might want to adjust on your next update. Now, back to the game as Vlad...
DJSHenninger  [author] 5 Nov, 2013 @ 5:04am
@Praylak Thnx
Praylak 5 Nov, 2013 @ 4:09am
Now this looks like a real cool and interesting civ, sub'd.
DJSHenninger  [author] 24 Sep, 2013 @ 1:10pm
@nestorovici Thanks, that means a lot ;)
NESTOROVICI 24 Sep, 2013 @ 12:42pm
very nice work
BigGucci Sosa 29 Aug, 2013 @ 1:00pm
ok thx
say me when you done :)
DJSHenninger  [author] 29 Aug, 2013 @ 9:30am
Not yet. Perhaps I can make some time. I don't know when it's done.
BigGucci Sosa 29 Aug, 2013 @ 8:44am
did you try ? do you work at it?
BigGucci Sosa 28 Aug, 2013 @ 10:40am
thanks :)
DJSHenninger  [author] 26 Aug, 2013 @ 2:33am
@stefanutzoprea Do you mean the Vanilla version? I can try.
BigGucci Sosa 26 Aug, 2013 @ 2:26am

BNW version released. Click on the link in the description or visit my Workshop.
Hiram 10 Aug, 2013 @ 6:47pm
Will there be a BNW version of this soon?
YungMO 14 Jul, 2013 @ 5:35am
Very nice mod
DJSHenninger  [author] 9 Jul, 2013 @ 1:52am
Lol, thanks :)
Chryphex 8 Jul, 2013 @ 8:56pm
It's nice to see Vlad Tepes in a mod where someone didn't go batshit (no pun intended) with vampires.
DJSHenninger  [author] 7 Jul, 2013 @ 4:41am
@Fnord Nice, thanks :)
Fņŏŕď 7 Jul, 2013 @ 4:35am
I've played it its a good mod. Seems balanced from what I've seen.
VTShark 28 Jun, 2013 @ 5:23am
Simply don't make having the resources nearby be a requirement. Just have it improve them there if they happen to be - this is of course if you plan on having it replace the temple. People would miss out on the NW if they couldn't. It's a pity that replacing one of the religious buildings didn't work out, but this seems to be a universal issue as another person's civ had a similar idea but ran into the same problem.

In this case, I could borrow from SixStringSamurai, and say that it's better to have more than less - give it the temple's benefits and the culture, and the resource boost (perhaps lessen the amount of resources?) the penalty could come in the form of a higher maintinence cost or take longer to build than standard which makes having them more of a commitment.
Caveman 28 Jun, 2013 @ 1:30am
I think it's better to be overpowered than underpowered, but that's just me ;)
I am going to work on my own civ after BNW comes out, it'd be great if by then you could assist me with some of the basics!
I really like the 2 religions idea, I think this maximizes the fun of G&K
Then of course simple, sweet, and overpowered: 10% food carried over is great as it allows one to choose other interesting options instead of always food bonus.
DJSHenninger  [author] 28 Jun, 2013 @ 12:37am
@SixStringSamurai Okay, good :)
@Vilia The Shark You may have noticed that making a balanced civ is rather hard. What is balance? If you weren't able to best Japan, would the UA then be useless? Also, is a 10% change really that game changing? You were in the medieval age I guess, the combat strength would be like 18, so they'd lose 1,8 points. Not sure how everything is calculated, though.
If it replaces the Temple, and it would still require one of the four resources, would it still be appropriate? Temple has +2 Faith, this building has +1 Faith and Culture. You could consider these "losses" to be penalties, to balance this civ because of the supposedly strong UA.
I could make it replace the Temple, still require one of the nearby resources as a penalty, but give it +2 Faith and +1 Culture. The Actual Faith "profit" may very well be zero as you wouldn't be able to make the UB in every City, although you'd gain Culture. A lot of options, but not sure what to do.
Caveman 27 Jun, 2013 @ 7:39pm
Colors are much better now! Thanks for the update.
VTShark 27 Jun, 2013 @ 6:11pm
While I have not yet managed to play a full game with them, here are my thoughts so far:

With only two stacks of T&A, I was able to give a tech equal rival, Japan, hell in combat. Against one of the rougher civs default to the game, I was wasting him away; This may be due to T&A, but may also be a result of poor AI or luck on my part, so more testing needs to be done.

The CS bonus is not incredibly impactful, but if this is appropriate in a historical sense, it could fit in as flavor.

The UB not replacing anything is untidy, and should probably have it's resource-boosting added to a temple replacement, you could increase maintinence or the cost in hammers if you feel the earlier tech start would be too much.

I enjoy the playstyle, the cheap pikemen replacement with a religious building focus is quite a joyride with Holy Warriors. I will be playing them more and will give a better educated opinion on the UA with more time.
DJSHenninger  [author] 27 Jun, 2013 @ 3:06pm
True, but a building that needs a certain resource to be built anyway, a UU that loses its effects when upgraded and perhaps the CS related bonus is overestimated. For example, if you have 30 influence points, you'd get 6 points. Also, you usually build certain defensive buildings early game, such as walls. In early game your influence isn't usually very high, so the bonus you'd get wouldn't be very overpowered either. I have friends that play without any City States too.. ;P
The 30% weakness in the end was the only UA effect till V3, though.
I had the CS bonus set on 10% at first, but it seemed like it was rather useless. If you have 90 points, you'd get 9 points. You probably don't really need that at that point. If your influence is low, you'd get a low amount, so that doesn't really help you a lot. Last time I checked you can't sell defensive buildings, so you can't build them over again.

Well, I hope you share your findings with me regarding this :)
VTShark 27 Jun, 2013 @ 2:58pm
On paper this seems like an incredibly powerful civ, perhaps too much so. Once you have all the required techs, you have a 30% weakness against any nearby enemies, not to mention a potentially very strong CS related bonus. With a UU that is resistant to ranged beatings and a building that doesn't even replace something pre-existing, it seems like they would be amazingly hard to stop once they get the ball rolling.

Gonna have to play a few games with them to see if I'm just overestimating the impact.
DJSHenninger  [author] 27 Jun, 2013 @ 8:02am
Nope, it was hard to find anything about the UU I'm afraid. If you are referring to a unit skin, I don't know how to make one. I could, one day, find out though :P
ElderDays 27 Jun, 2013 @ 5:58am
Do you have new art for the UU?
DJSHenninger  [author] 26 Jun, 2013 @ 6:00am
VERSION 3:
- Colours changed to Green/Black. I'll not change it from now on.. I think.. :P
- Expanded Trait: Increase your influence over City States by building Defensive Buildings! Force them to respect or fear you by building mighty Walls and Castles!

Don't like the changes? Download Version 2 manually; link is in description, should be easy to find. Instructions as well.

HAVE FUN!
Caveman 25 Jun, 2013 @ 9:11pm
Nice, I checked those and realized how difficult this actually is. Maybe he deserves something that gives him a 10% food overture per citizen? Something simple to help growth while he's out wreaking havoc, haha.

I'm looking forward to the color change, is it pretty damn dificult?
DJSHenninger  [author] 25 Jun, 2013 @ 2:34am
The Carthage UU reduces enemy Combat Strength by 10%. It was already defined, but I made new promotions, gave them as a free promotion to all the units. Short story, it was already defined. You can go to Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v\assets\DLC\Expansion\Gameplay\XML and then to Buildings and open the CIV5Buildings.xml and to Civilizations and open the CIV5Traits.xml. You'll see all the possible effects right away, between the "" such as "LevelExperienceModifier"

You´ll notice that there aren´t many diplomacy effect. If you want to add more of these effects, you need to be familiar with .lua modding and I´m not familiar with that xD Furthermore, it might cause compatibility problems with other mods, but I´m not sure whether that´s still the case.

I didn´t define any special music, which means it probably has default music.
Caveman 24 Jun, 2013 @ 4:42pm
As far as music goes for him, did you have to choose one leader's music to create Vlad? Would it have had no sound otherwise, or is there a default soundbox.
It'd be *tough* to get the right music, as all the music in the game have very similar production values. However... Romanian music=Gypsy, so I see a huge, huge potential with this.

A documentary with amazing gypsy music in it would be Lotchka Drom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv1y5PNqsm4

As it has no copyright issues with Youtube, I see no reason why it couldn't be applied for a Civ 5 mod!
Caveman 24 Jun, 2013 @ 4:42pm
I'll do some research for you gladly on the Transylvania idea. I would go with superficially: The ones with the coolest names, coolest flags/banners -- then literally right next to that I'll be looking at historical greatness or remarkable tactics,

I'll keep thinking on Vlad's VIP trait for Diplomacy.... It's difficult as we need something in league with Fear without mucking with making our own. I wish I was better engrained in this modding community or I'd learn how to do it myself and help ya out in a more real way.
Just to clear it up: You were able to write the 5% reduction for his trait- did you take this from a city-state or something? If there's a list of all available traits beyond vanilla Leaders' please share with me and then we can make it happen!

DJSHenninger  [author] 24 Jun, 2013 @ 1:03am
Haha that trait would be better :P Tbh, I've never played as Austria so far, lol. The different possible trait elements are defined in .xml files, so I can only choose one of those unless I use .lua files, but those seem to be a lot more complicated and I don't know how to use them.. I know nothing when it comes to computers and stuff ;P
Also, I'm not sure if adding war music will cause compatibility issues. Leugi doesn't mention any problems you may encounter if you add war music in his mods, so that's a good sign :D
It'll take some time to figure out how to add music, but I think I can do it.
One last question, if you wanted to make a Transylvanian mod, which leader would you choose?
Caveman 24 Jun, 2013 @ 12:47am
I have to admit, the flag just doesn't have appealing colors--- of course that's just my opinion. You can search easily for the wikipedia tag for Wallachia! Very interesting stuff, not all entirely accurate though... Heh.
Though the bird would actually be Black and the background Green- I think either way would be the most original (compared to other civs) ---
Regarding Austria: True that, I never liked Austria so this is probably why I suggested it in the first place.... If only there was a more negative approach "City-states that Fear you will be annexable" hahaha.... No one likes the pike after all :)
DJSHenninger  [author] 24 Jun, 2013 @ 12:40am
@SixStringSamurai Adding that trait would make him way too powerful compared to Austria, I'm sure you'd understand!
Changing the colours takes some time and I recently changed them. When I'm in a good mood, I'll try to change it for you. I need to remake the icons again etc.
Oh yes, can you provide me with the exact colours of Wallachia? I can't find them. A flag or something.
@Great Khan I've added some dialogues and tested it, but it didn't appear so far. I think I know what the problem is, but he doesn't always say this. He usually says the "standard" lines.
Things I probably change:
- Fix and add some dialogue lines
- Change the colours once again
- I'll try to add some music, then
This, however, may not happen soon since I'm currently in a lazy state =D
Caveman 23 Jun, 2013 @ 5:15pm
Not to spam your channel--- but Great Khan of the Timurids has a good idea for the background, (2:10) of the video... However I must say the picture you chose for Vlad Tepes III is *perfect* and I wouldn't change it, only perhaps enhance background...
Caveman 23 Jun, 2013 @ 5:13pm
If you can make those changes I listed below--- you'll have the most grateful subscriber, ever! :)
Caveman 23 Jun, 2013 @ 5:12pm
@davey_henninger Hey, thanks for the response. I would say the most lore-friendly diplomatic trait to add on would be Austria's ability to Annex & Puppet any allied City-State. This is actually one of the most fun and interesting traits, and would hugely benefit Vlad Tepes .

Something else I really REALLY hope you decide to change: Green bird, Black Background --- This is Wallachia's true colors.

By the way.... I'm related to them bastards so i've always had a mild obsession with their history.
DJSHenninger  [author] 23 Jun, 2013 @ 1:22pm
@mattgpalmer Erhm, I already updated it, as you can see in the new screenshots :P Are you sure you got the update?
