I have a problem AML is saying there's a duplicate line?
hbpaynes 21.5.2020 klo 19.25
@Poo Sparks
Thanks, downloading the mod RN.
Poo Sparks  [tekijä] 21.5.2020 klo 15.07
Without the mod it's dark-tinted, with the mod it should be clear or slightly bluish
hbpaynes 21.5.2020 klo 14.43
Are the glasses supposed to be dark-tinted? (I don't have this mod but I'm wondering if this changes that or something.)
Drakten 1.5.2020 klo 22.09
No, it wouldn't but snowflake over there would prefer that. Some people...

How I presume this mod works is that it replaces the helmets themselves with versions with new "glass textures" rather then replacing general glass textures.

So it wouldn't effect mods.
Poo Sparks  [tekijä] 24.4.2020 klo 17.42
You'll probably need to ask the authours for those other mods.
CompleteTrash 24.4.2020 klo 15.42
Well, I'd prefer a version that works for mods. And it works without TLP.
Poo Sparks  [tekijä] 24.4.2020 klo 14.27
It's strange if it affects other mods, as the method I used should only change the helmets from the description list.
And yeah you need TLP because some of the changed helmets are from TLP.
CompleteTrash 23.4.2020 klo 9.13
Does this work with mods? And do you need TLP?

I think another easy way to bring over the vanilla glass materials is to copy the .upk's from vanilla XCOM 2 into your mod content folder, rename the .upk's and just reference the materials there on the spot.

Lol why didn't I think of that before...

Thank you, now Claudia Kholer can finally wear her glasses with pride. As her commander I thank you
p6kocka 16.10.2018 klo 5.26
The modded glass looks good but I thing the Fxaa version looks more like glas. It's only my opinion...
Juravis 15.10.2018 klo 21.32
The glass has the same problem on top of buildings. FXAA looks OK, but you get massive shimmering at MSAA anything.

I couldn't find the smoking gun for a blanket replacement unfortunately :(

To make these edits using the SDK and editor, I had to copy each helmet's archetype, corresponding mesh file and corresponding glass material instance file into my own .upk.

All I had to do then was to copy over the vanilla base glass material file from vanilla XCOM 2. Then I simply point the glass material instance file towards this vanilla file and away from the WOTC copy.

Afterwards, I made all relevant references in the files refer to those in my own local .upk. Then, I made my mod .ini files load the archetypes from my .upk.

Pretty much copy, paste, point and click lol.

Hope this helps.

Yes! Thank you SO much for this, I thought it was just me that thought this!
KongMD 15.10.2018 klo 19.03
Thank you so much for this! This is such a big improvement.
Brakkey Gurdy I 15.10.2018 klo 18.57
And to the Andromedon proper.
Brakkey Gurdy I 15.10.2018 klo 18.57
We need to figure out how to apply this to map stuff.
Cato 15.10.2018 klo 16.53
I thought this would never be fixed! Thank you!
Please consider adding support for CapnBub's Gear.
Azzla 15.10.2018 klo 15.05
Someone's either gotta get in touch with CapnBubs to do this for his helmets and goggles or upload the fixes themselves. The nice thing is that the proper glass assets already exist in the vanilla form of the mod; presumably they just need to be made compatible with WotC in the same way you've done for these helmets.

I'm sure the folks over at /r/xcom2mods would be very interested in your methodology here. You should make a post.
Eggy 15.10.2018 klo 14.22
Is this different to the fix for glass and windows they added with the release of TLP?
Macca 15.10.2018 klo 12.20
is there some way to make this a blanket fix so it applies to all armors and mods? instead of you having to do it manually
MisterDog 15.10.2018 klo 11.17
Thank you, I thought I was the only one seeing it and I remembered it being different before. This is such a massive improvement.
Poo Sparks  [tekijä] 15.10.2018 klo 8.29
Good point DOX, I'll update my description. Surprised there was no visual option in the menu to choose the nicer looking material. Woulda been a good idea.

Also this mod only fix the helmets, shouldn't have touched any other glass materials...
d_valroth 15.10.2018 klo 3.19
I remember dithered glass....back in Quake 2.
DOX 15.10.2018 klo 2.16
Also not techically brokem, dithering was just an optimization to improve performance in wotc vs vanilla.
DOX 15.10.2018 klo 2.10
Its unlocked from the recent TLP dlc
Californiadreaming 15.10.2018 klo 1.59
Can you tell me where the Tunnel Rat Helmet is from?
Tyranniac 15.10.2018 klo 1.54
Yesss! Thank you!
Mr. Nice 15.10.2018 klo 1.42
Nice, I could tell that car windows weren't dithered rubbish anymore...
Kexx 15.10.2018 klo 1.24
Excellent! Thank you!
p6kocka 15.10.2018 klo 1.16
Thank you for this mod. Maybe you should put some before- after screenshots for somebody who doesn´t know what exactly was broken...
