Ma lord! Good sir, is there any chance that you can help me with the base tier 3 helmets? I would like to have a matte material\texture, like on the Anarchy's Children armor, but I have no idea where to start.
Poo Sparks  [author] 15 Mar, 2022 @ 6:02pm
Got it yeah.

Unfortunately, I'm no longer actively modding these days due to life, so I'm unable to be of much help or add to my mod.

You are correct though, this mod only targets specific items and doesn't touch anything else. Really, all that was involved was changing the path of the referenced glass material for these specific items, and making sure the game loads to edited items instead of the default ones.
Geobeetle 14 Mar, 2022 @ 7:34pm
Yeah that is what I am referring to. This mod only seems to change specific glass textures, and things like car windshields, windows on buildings, and modded cosmetics still aren't changed. The vanilla items look great though! I don't think I'll be able to get that mod creator to change it as the transparency is a vanilla mechanic and some people will not like having that changed.
Poo Sparks  [author] 14 Mar, 2022 @ 4:24pm
Hey Geobeetle, not sure what you mean by compatibility? Do you mean changing the Capnbubs items? If so, I'm afraid that's something that I cannot do. You'll need to contact the authour of Capnbubs and suggest the change there
Geobeetle 14 Mar, 2022 @ 11:32am
@Poo Sparks Do you think you can add compatibility with Capnbubs accessories? I feel that enough people use that mod to justify the effort. A million thanks if you choose to do this!

Haha all good mate i thought it wouldn't hurt to ask though lol I'm honestly surprised that no one has come up with a solution yet though considering how shit it looks lol honestly makes me want to go back to vanilla lol
Poo Sparks  [author] 27 Aug, 2021 @ 2:20pm
@Jess I got no clue lol I haven't done any modding in years
Jess 27 Aug, 2021 @ 7:27am
Hi, great mod! I know the description mentions not knowing how to update the environmental glass but i was wondering if you or anyone else has made much progress on this front since its been quite a while since this mod was released? Cheers :)
Poo Sparks  [author] 7 May, 2021 @ 5:28pm
ya sure I don't mind
N/A 6 May, 2021 @ 1:26am
ok. do you mind if i rip out materials i want? i don't the vanilla SDK installed but i'll give you credit for the original export
Poo Sparks  [author] 6 May, 2021 @ 1:12am
@N/A yeah that's how I remember doing it more or less
N/A 6 May, 2021 @ 12:01am
quick question, just to be explicit about this: you exported the glass materials for each mesh (plus their dependencies) out of the vanilla SDK, and they're otherwise unmodified? i'm leaning towards grabbing the material for a mod and wanted to figure out where it's coming from.
Poo Sparks  [author] 22 May, 2020 @ 10:50am
@EvilPolygon that I have no idea lol
EvilPolygons 21 May, 2020 @ 6:59pm
@Poo Sparks:
This may be a dumb question, but are female eyelashes built into the character models, or are they some kind of accessory attachment, like hair? I'm wondering because the flickering bug has been around for ages, and if female eyelashes could be hidden (like hair) when wearing helmets & face props, then that would *finally* solve this problem. The flickering eyelashes bug has been driving me crazy for YEARS lol.
Poo Sparks  [author] 21 May, 2020 @ 3:05pm
@EvilPolygons you may be on to something, I've noticed female eyebrows look a little strange. Alas seems this fix isn't quite perfect then.
EvilPolygons 20 May, 2020 @ 3:38pm
Do female eyelashes "flicker" through the glass in this mod? The WOTC glass isn't great even with FXAA via Reshade, but at least it doesn't cause eyelashes to flicker in and out.
Abdulla Babulla 30 Oct, 2018 @ 7:27am
Yo, this is incompatible with Free the Hood.
Safiye 30 Oct, 2018 @ 5:34am
Holy...! I found a mod such as this for a long, long time!
I just can't thank you enough.
Hard Gridlock 22 Oct, 2018 @ 3:03pm
Holy shit thank you! Liked and fav'd.
SevenBan 22 Oct, 2018 @ 9:08am
@DreadScourge Thanks for the answer :D
Soul Turd 22 Oct, 2018 @ 7:14am
@SevenBan That's a vanilla tier 3 helmet you get once you research power armor.
SevenBan 21 Oct, 2018 @ 7:59pm
@Poo Sparks Your mod fixes the glasses on the mass effect andromeda armor mod. You did a nice job with this mod, thank you.

Also, what mod you used that have thaat helmet on the images. Thanks in advance.
Poo Sparks  [author] 20 Oct, 2018 @ 1:03am
Thx for the link. In terms of how the material is used, I had to change the links to the material assets in the helmet mesh files themselves, but I copied all assets into a new self-contained .upk package for this. Any changes to links to the material assets, would've used locations from my own mod .upk.

Aka the vanilla glass material in my mod is only contained in my .upk. So if another mod appears to have used the vanilla glass, perhaps the author added the material from vanilla XCOM 2 on their own. I think that's more likely. Otherwise I have no clue lol

I'm real busy these days, so I'll have to find another time to follow up on that E3245 mod later.
Sumajin 19 Oct, 2018 @ 5:39pm
Apologies for the double comment, but from my understanding you have copied the "vanilla" glass material and told the game to use your "new" glass material? If the MGSV helmets are targeting the vanilla one, it would now target your new material. Unless I have misunderstood and the material is changed on a per helmet basis, in which case I am at a loss.
Sumajin 19 Oct, 2018 @ 5:35pm
E3245 is the Author, it appears to mostly have worked regarding the helmets in the Diamond Dogs mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1403813792

There is one with an orange visor where the removed dithering is especially noticible.
Poo Sparks  [author] 19 Oct, 2018 @ 8:17am
Really?!?! Are you sure they didn't update the mods themselves? Seems strange to me if my mod fixes their helments, unless they specifically used my not so unique .upk file name lol.

Can you point me to one of these mods?
Sumajin 19 Oct, 2018 @ 1:52am
Just so you are aware, this mod also "fixes" all of the helmets in the various MGSV mods on the workshop as I assume they use the same glass materials. Due to the way materials work in the WOTC SDK I guess Capnbubs has used an environment material, or one that you have not yet changed, on his helmets.
Poo Sparks  [author] 18 Oct, 2018 @ 9:11pm
@Vulpes
I think it's best to make your request to Capnbubs. I'm not interested in editing mods belonging to someone else. Sorry,
Abdulla Babulla 18 Oct, 2018 @ 2:16am
@Poo Sparks Maybe you could ask his permission, if you could do a reupload of his pack with the materials fixed? Giving him credit and all.
Wet Dog Squad 17 Oct, 2018 @ 11:25pm
Thank you so much for this! While it looked better than vanilla, the dithering effect in WOTC really got on my nerves.
Poo Sparks  [author] 17 Oct, 2018 @ 8:45pm
@d_valroth
I know, right?? I wasn't able to find any master override, but I think you can just copy and paste the base game .upk files into the WOTC content folder to do the same thing, but that isn't much of a mod lol

For everyone asking for Capnbubs compatbility, I'm assuming you want this mod to change the look of those glass materials as well? I think the only person that can do that is Capnbubs. My changes aren't able to override the materials that mod references.

Sursion 17 Oct, 2018 @ 1:17pm
+1 for Capnbubs compatibility
Red 17 Oct, 2018 @ 9:07am
Thank you for this. It doesn't fix everything, but it's a good start.
4rrakis 17 Oct, 2018 @ 8:28am
I agree that support for Capnbubs would be great. Thank you for the mod!
d_valroth 17 Oct, 2018 @ 5:04am
Rather than fixing items piece by piece, is there not a master material definition that Firaxis changed? Surely reverting that would correct all items using the default glass. (Why this wasn't a toggle in graphics options is puzzling)
Sumajin 17 Oct, 2018 @ 4:42am
Capnbubs would be sweet, agreed. Your work is very well done, my only minor issue is that there isn't paticularly enough reflection on the tunnel rat visor. It can look almost invisible in certain lighting. A very minor issue, and perhaps engine related. Happily subbed.
ProXz 17 Oct, 2018 @ 3:30am
Any chance to get this for Capnbubs Accessories Pack? <3
