Is there anyway to update to version 3 and above? I'm not sure if it needs it but it would be nice to not have the launcher tell me its out of date.

I can confirm that this works in 3.1, and it pairs very well with the "Milky Way STYLE Galaxy Gen" mod.
Auri Sariel 22 Apr, 2021 @ 6:14am
does it work as of 3.0?
Pitlos Tails 11 Mar, 2021 @ 5:16am
does not work

it just replaces the texture of the default galaxy, it's not a galaxy generation setting

+ for bad depth effect

" Turns out Stellaris doesn't like it when you use a higher resolution texture for its galaxy"

No hi-res, and the depth effect makes any detail look bad :(
Nice job though Skud!

@grinning_fox - thats the spirit!

Ah well. This is still great. Now then, time to go find Earth and invade it with xenomorphs. Again. Simply because I can.

This is only a texture mod. You'll still need to start new games a hundred times to get the right location lol.

Very nice mod. Much more fun to play in our familiar territory. I don't suppose this mod places Sol in the correct position, though?
mzilli 21 Oct, 2018 @ 9:39pm
That did the trick! Great looking galaxy, thanks for updating the old mod!
skud13  [author] 21 Oct, 2018 @ 10:27am
Okay it should be fixed now. Turns out Stellaris doesn't like it when you use a higher resolution texture for its galaxy and requires a certain resolution.
mzilli 19 Oct, 2018 @ 9:19pm
The problem is still there I'm afraid... https://i.imgur.com/fMMDPpm.jpg

That was on a tiny galaxy, but it's still noticeable on huge as well. The left side seems to be the most affected.
skud13  [author] 19 Oct, 2018 @ 8:58pm
@mzilli it should be fixed now. Outer edges should be darker as well (was needed to fix it)
mzilli 18 Oct, 2018 @ 8:21pm
Thanks! I'm playing on a 1,000-star galaxy, if that helps.
skud13  [author] 18 Oct, 2018 @ 5:49pm
Ah I see what you're talking about. I think that has to do with the map size I used to take the screenshot with. If you're getting it on smaller sizes I'll take a look at the texture and tomorrow and see what I can do.
mzilli 18 Oct, 2018 @ 5:44pm
I mean that the edges seem cut off without a fade, like the texture is too big to be depicted in its entirety. The fourth image shows what I mean, the bottom and left edges make the galaxy look like an octagon.
skud13  [author] 18 Oct, 2018 @ 5:36pm
@mzilli, if you mean that parts of the edges have the texture fade out to black despite there being stars still there, this is intended. It's meant to reflect that the outer edges are far out on the edge of the galaxy.
mzilli 18 Oct, 2018 @ 3:15pm
Great texture, but it looks a bit cut-off on the western and southern edges.
