The new update will allow an ideology precept where child labour is seen as good or bad so they get a learning boost but have a mood hit if they are assigned to work, or work faster but have a mood hit if they are assigned recreation time. As the training console counts as a type of work, even if we have them train exclusively this would be seen as work and there'd be a mood hit. I haven't tested this but it's a concern I have. The irony is they would actually learn drastically less than if they used the training console. I was wondering if you could look into this and maybe make the training job not count as work for children.

Train: Melee Duration: Do Forever Allowed Skill: 0-19
Train: Shooting Duration: Do Forever Allowed Skill: 0-19
etc
Repeat for every skill and pawns will train to level 20 and then move to the next skill in line
No further player input required :)

@Kyzer From what I have seen in the files, it trains roughly 0.7 to 0.8 (depending on skill type) of xp per game tick. The game has 60 ticks per second so up to 48 xp per second. So one hour of traning would result in 172800 xp. But since there is a cap of 4000 xp per day after which a 20% multiplicator is added, this would amount to: 4000 + 168800 * 20% = ~38000 xp for 1 hour of training.

It is possible that, as you said, some mods are in conflict. Try experimenting with the mod loading order.

Are there known incompatibilities?
Cause my pawns rather be idle than to their Prio-1 training...
Additionally, I can only choose "Any Worker" or "Any Slave", but not a specific pawn.

Seems easy to abuse. Maybe add a downside. Something like cryptosleep sickness increasing in severity as higher skill levels are attempted?
Can't be too fun having an AI grope around in your head rearranging the furniture.

Is it possible we might be able to have this set up in some way (perhaps by config?) to support the Blindsight part of Ideology? It unfortunately disables training when the sight is removed for the ritual for that, meaning you either have to do training before doing the ritual (which may take awhile depending on what you're doing) or give up training all together for the pawn in question to do the ritual sooner.

Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I think the console must generate a little bit of light, because every time my darkness lovin' pawns sit down to learn some skills they get the Indoor Light -4 mood debuff.

Thx for the 1.3 update! Any chance you could make it so the training console can be assigned as a relic/ritual building in Ideology? I would really love if my cave dwelling tribals could worship the console as a god or something :D

This is a lovely, simple mod. I use it for things like training doctors, keeping the entire colony's melee skill at least at 5, and other things that are a little difficult or sketchy to train, or need to be trained in a hurry.

Needing an AI persona core to build one feels like a decent trade-off, but I also use the Android Tiers mod, and can craft the core myself, so that may be why I feel that way.

When I have this mod installed, I get errors when the build monument with a time limit quest appears. No descriptions of materials, time limit, dangers, or rewards appears, except as a generic statement that references grammar errors. Not sure if anybody else is getting this error.

I get a couple of errors that roughly say

Config error in TrainingConsole: is minifiable but not in any thing category
Config error in TrainingConsole: is haulable, but does not have an authored mass value

The persona core each machine needs is hard to come by. I suppose it balances them, but there goes my dream of having several of these consoles. I think if it was made out of 20 advanced components it would be easier to build but still only for late game. For now I think I'll be going on a series of persona core quests in my cargo ship from Save Our Ship.

@WexMan, The error is showing up because the training console can be Uninstalled and move to different locations. but the game does not know to which storage zone it should go to. There are few lines that need to be added. In the file "Buildings_TrainingConsole.xml" add the following part after line 8 <minifiedDef>MinifiedThing</minifiedDef>
<thingCategories>
<li>BuildingsMisc</li>
</thingCategories>

after line 28 add the mass like this
<MaxHitPoints>250</MaxHitPoints>
<Mass>15</Mass>
This should fix the reported errors

This is working fine. The error appears in the console only when loading the main menu, and no longer appears. You can simply ignore it. If I can understand what is the reason, I will of course correct it. But for now - everything works.

Oh I just got the idea that while making the bill for training, set the upper limit to 19, so that anyone with a skill lower than 20 (and on training) will stop once reaching level 20 in that skill. It's a great idea and I'm a little pissed at myself for not thinking of it earlier. With being able to control who actually trains in job priorities you don't have to worry about any colonist doing the job because you only need to set it to a single one, though be advised this won't work if you set it for a specific pawn, only every worker.

Two requests: colonists cannot train skills that they cannot learn and cannot fulfill the bill towards that skill; New Bill: Train Worst Skil: the colonists will spend time at the console to train the skill with the lowest level and experience.

Was just using broken arrows version and thought my game was screwed up because it no long had the work tab. Thanks alot, don't know how anyone can use this without conditions, the least of which is a work tab. If its treated like a recreational object they sit in front of it all day not doing anything else.
