then use BOB (recomended) or Traffic Light Replacer to replace the vanilla traffic lights
Its a little bit more of work using BOB, but it gives the option to not use a traffic light prop that you didn't liked or even mix with other traffic light packs!
It is noted at the very top of each version that all of these are Deprecated! So, i'ts more like a "use at y our own risk" kind of deal now until further notice, or someone else decides to challenge this asset and remake it.
There are some American Roads that have lights made to them as well, if you want to go that route.

This mod still works for me but with all of the listed issues above, including generally not working right on T-intersections and some weird mirroring effects on other intersections, including double spawned traffic lights, and traffic lights on the wrong side of the intersection facing the wrong direction.
When you do get around to it, one bug that’s plaguing me is the lights will randomly not display (vanilla lights appear instead) on certain roads, be they large or small, built-in or 3rd-party. Sometimes the lights later start appearing when I build intersections with the same roads they weren’t appearing on previously during the same session. So I can have an intersection with your lights, save and exit the game, and next time I load the savegame it’s the vanilla lights again. Really weird glitch that I can’t figure out a workaround for.
At any rate, any update from you is welcome. Take care.
@brandon.moore.891 Honestly that sounds like a bug caused by one of the games updates. :( I'll have to take a look at the code when I find the time
Which is why I'm bummed I cant use it currently. Here's my problem, when I activate the mod the traffic lights show up, however... Every intersection will have about 6 to 10 traffic lights facing every direction. It's as if the mod thinks traffic is coming from every lane in every direction on the road. If anyone has any known fixes for this, or if anyone knows what I may be doing wrong, or if it;s just a glitch I would love to know. Thanks!
Today, as I prepare to get back into the game, I find this gem now exists.
I think I love you.
@black_panther559 -- That is an interesting Idea. I am actually looking to just having two checkboxes for which side of the road the player wants the lights on, so you would just check both boxes to have them on both sides (will be per-road type)
