There is a config option to force Remove Dark Event covert actions to show up every month.

Hey, so I'm at the point where most of my soldiers are Seargeant or higher in a new campaign with this, have done many covert ops with all factions and still haven't had one to remove any dark events. They're beginning to become unruly and I just had four added within the last 7 in game days to a total of 14. Is there some trigger I'm missing to unlock these missions or is it broken?

I had 6 dark events stacked before I could even reach the base mod influence required and got wrecked by a combo of show of force, armour, extra support, and better weapons. became impossible for any mission lol.

Still, fun while it lasted.

Sorry about your troubles. CTDs are usually a sign of some sort of mod incompatibility.

i am running into a problem that CTD's my game.

I run a covert infiltration mission chain to remove the dark event 'Dark Tower'
I infiltrate to 250%.

After i finish the mission, whenever i go to A mission loadout or my armory to see my soldiers, i crash to desktop.
Just before is totally fine.

The grim horizon mods:
soci grim horizon lite redux
wotc grim horizon text fix
wotc grim horizon fix
wotc remove dark event ( grim horizon lite)

added enemy that is present, the viper king.

if i disable thse mods; i can't complete the mission as the relay becomes a inactive object without HP or a trigger for the mission.

Also i can't find the name of the dark event to remove it by command. I can't test removing the DE that way for obvious reasons.

To my knowledge i have succesfully removed other DE's withotu an issue.

A thought occured: i do not see the mission in the Covert ops. could a possible issue lay with the fact it's no longer in the CO list?

You can set ALWAYS_AVAILABLE=true in the config file for this mod. I don't know of any console command to remove Dark Events.

Is there a way to force such a mission or a command to remove one? i just got an dark event but did not miss a mission top prevent it. so i am ealry and stuck with a annoying one. but because i did not miss a mission i want to remove it

Potentially the issue is in the GRIM horizon Lite Redux or horizon fix mods. Will update this if I verify it in the future.

As to overhaul mods.. Musashi RPG overhaul is the one I have.Though there are some mission overhauls and armor/robot overhauls as well.

I solved it by disabling the Grim horizon and Dark Event mods I had enabled. Not sure which of those 6 or 7 mods was the conflict, but it's somewhere in there. Just wanted to create some characters and outfits v mod troubleshooting.

@CRAGNAR That error appears to be related to the Strategy Overhaul mod that uses this mod. I can't remember what it's called and I can't seem to find it on the workshop.

Anyone ever seen this:

WOTC_SORemoveDE error

Causes game to lock up and not start. Deleted mod and verified integrity of files.

@mikesh1958 If the Black Market becomes closed due to the "Gone to Ground" Dark Event, you have to wait for the "Gone to Ground" Remove Dark Event to show up in the Resistance Ring. When you finish the Remove Dark Event covert action, the Black Market will pop back up on the world map.

You don't need to start a new game. Unless it's iron Man, just load up a save prior to the mission being spawned without the map mods (probably mcgee), she use the unbind missing mods mod

I've already tried that and waited 40 minutes. Then I pressed ALT+F4 :D

I also read this reddit thread. But there was also an answer by Iridar. He said, all NetObject and NetIndex errors can be ignored. And the logfiles with missions that I could start without problems also have a huge amount of these type of errors, so I asume Iridar is right.

I guess I follow your advice and restart the campaign with less map mods. I don't dare just removing them in the middle of the campaign. It's just that I used these map packs several times before without this problem.

I was just doing some digging into NetObject errors and an interesting reddit post suggested that these errors could add 5-10 minutes to loading times. I'm curious if you just let it try to load and walked away for a while what would happen?

Yeah you have a mod conflict somewhere else. As for troubleshooting, there are some great guides out there. Sometimes just unsubbing and resubbing all mods fixes issues for people. But truthfully you will probably have to start whittling down your mods until you find the issue. Maybe start with the map packs?

I've asked the author of [SOCI]Grim Horizon Lite Redux mission. He said it's no problem with his mod.

some other mods, that might have an influence:
- Points of Interest Recycler
- A better AI: WotC
- Better Second Wave MOd Support
- No Lost World
- True Primary Secondaries [Beta]
- Soundtrack Restoration - WotC + TLE
- Unpredictable Chosen Appear Chance
- Community Highlander 1.24.0

Btw my mod setup is quite similiar to Christopher Odd`s, that he use in the latest season. Just only 205 mods instead of over 300.

I manually deactivated both sitreps for the Lost (Horde and the other one) in XcomGameData "defaultsitrep"

I reduced graphic settings to minimum and reloaded the shader cahche by automatically searching for the best graphic options. I never use highest texture quality and use FXAA.

What would be more radical troubleshooting methods?

Hmmn. To state the obvious, something isn't playing nice with the generation of the [SOCI]Grim Horizon Lite Redux mission... It's not a compatibility issue with any of the mods you listed as they have been proven to work together.

You may want to ask over at the [SOCI]Grim Horizin Lite Redux mod page as to what may be causing this issue of the actual mission failing to load. Highlight some of the troubleshooting you have done. Beyond that, you may have to engage in more drastic troubleshooting if you really want to use these mods.

sry for the comment spam, but 1000 letters is not much, when u don't know what you are looking for an such a huge log file.

But it seems that the map generation is the problem. The log files of the two buggy missions look almost identical, whereas the 3rd mission that works totally fine (not a dark event removal mission but a normal story mission) has this "map generating" part. This part is completely missing in the 2 first maps that do not work.

I compared the log file with anothere, where I started a different mission (that works, not a dark event removal). And I found a big difference: This part is completely missing:

I have a 2nd mission available, that also ends up in an endless loop (also a mission to remove a dark event). The log file looks almost perfectly identical to the first one.

Run the game and get it to the point where it hangs for you. Alt+Tab out and navigate to Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Logs and open the "Launch" file. Scroll to the bottom of the file and see what's there. I'm not sure what you would be looking for but there may be something to indicate what the issue is. Start with that and let me know of you find anything.

ah, and of course I use the ALM, no conflicts detected, clean campaign start. My last few runs with over 200 mods worked totally fine. This run also goes very smoothly, just this one annoying problem.

The biggest differences now are the 2 named mods (covert infiltration and the grim horizon stuff)

@looplick, I am in the middle of a campaign, this time with Covert Infiltration and [SOCI]Grim Horizin Lite Redux. So great! Thx for your work :)

But I have a serious problem with the activity chain to remove a dark event. Always in the last of the 4 steps, the final mission to remove the dark event, I just can't get the mission started. I am stuck in an endless loading screen when I clicked on "start the mission". It's no real freeze, I still hear the music, the little cxcom icon in the corner still rotates, and I can tab in and out of the game.

I am not sure, which mod causes the problem, but it is suspious, that it only happens at the final mission of the activity chain for removing dark events. All other missions work fine.

Maybe you know anything that could fix this never ending loading screen? Help plz, this mod setup is so great, I don't wanna restart without it :(

So far, I'm only finding GameState errors for Remove Missing Mods, the Pathfinders and some cosmetic mods. Of course, I did put Undying Loyalty in the exception list under Grim Horizon Fix so that may have removed it as a consideration. I could comment out the entry in that mod and maybe see if it comes back.

Did a quick search through all the logs in that folder and didn't find anything flagged for Undying Loyalty in them. Unless it would show up under another name.

Did you happen to check the log when these issues arise? You can typically find the log here:

Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Logs

I'm starting to suspect there is a GameState issue and the log will highlight that error.

I'm starting to suspect that the Undying Loyalty event has something that makes it keep showing up in the list Grim Horizon Fix creates. Mainly because I just removed Stiletto Rounds and it's gone. A remove event for Undying Loyalty appeared again and I ran it and it seemed to vanish from the list again, but now it's back. For now, I'm going to go to Grim Horizon Fix and put it on the exception list so it expires.

After setting it to True, I am getting 2 missions (per month) now.

OK... currently playing a new campaign and this time, I am getting 2+ Dark Events per month, but I can only remove 1 Dark Event with this mod. After several months, I got 6+ Dark Events. I think this campaign will eventually fail because of too many OP dark events....

Maybe allow us to have multiple different Dark Events instead of just 1 per month?

After 3 Havens (new playthrough), I got 9 Dark Events, 4 of which makes Overwatch useless (Lightning step, +Dodge, +Def, Hit becomes Graze) .. the other dark events make infiltration difficult requiring a Shinobi (ranger) or Reaper for every mission. And I could not counter because I dont have the REQUIRED_FACTION to do it... (good thing there is an option to disable that).

Dark Events on LWOTC is hell and this MOD makes it a little less annoying.

IMO I find removing Dark Events (on LWOTC campaigns) via Covert Operations cheesy. Next iteration, please include the option that it will generate a Guerilla Mission (with expiration option). Makes less cheesy.

I would suggest lowering the requirements in the config so that the Remove Dark Events start showing up earlier. I would set the following:

MINIMUM_RANK=3
INTEL_COST=25
MULTIPLES_ALLOWED=false
REQUIRE_FACTION=false
ALWAYS_AVAILABLE=true
INFLUENCE_LEVEL=eFactionInfluence_Minimal

So I restarted a new LWOTC campaign with all the bells and whistles with Grim Horizon enabled. And after several days playing, I got a covert mission to remove a Dark Event. See screenshots for active Dark Events, Covert Mission, Covert Mission Done, and Dark Events afterwards.

Could be. I'm looking at Grim Horizon Fix now and I don't see anything out of the ordinary. But XCom2 is a strange beast. I've found all sorts of weird inexplicable bugs over the years where the code looks fine. My Free Reload Anytime Fix mod is a prime example. The original code looks perfectly fine, but it has a persistence issue... Anyway, I'll keep looking.

I noticed one other oddity. Another instance of Remove Undying Loyalty appeared and I completed the mission. After that, it vanished from the Grim Horizon Fix listing. So... maybe something with the duplicate issue?
