Sorry for my potentially stupid question: Do i still need this mod if having "Random Train Trailers 2.4.1" active? (No issue with both active at my end, just curious if i the combo is required at all.)

urrently, there appears to be an issue with this mod. Although no errors are shown, new trains fail to spawn. Existing trains from previous saves operate normally until reaching the map edge and despawning as usual. However, no new trains emerge, whether from the map edge or any cargo/train station. This problem persists across multiple trains, regardless of whether this mod is a requirement or not. Additionally, there are no conflicting mods reported by Skyve that could be causing this issue. Happy to help with error logs if needed :)

All errors were resolved and I was able to change the number of train cars.

It should be fixed now hopefully. Unsubscribe and resubscribe to this mod to be sure you get the changes and then try again.

I tried to change the number of train cars by using Extended Asset Editor without Industries but TrailerVariation Loader indicates an error.
Is there a solution?

HI, is there a chance that this mod may cause trains spawning without trailers at all? I have such problem for a bit and I really dont know where it came from.

Can confirm that unsubscribing doesn't result in a non-functional save, your PC exploding, or opening a portal to the Warp. It just causes your trains cars to look like every variant of cargo simultaneously.

Unsubscribing is fine, maybe an asset that needs it will look weird without it, but it won't corrupt your saves or anything.

Dumb question: do I need this if I copied the vanilla (post-Industries) train freight car for my own slight edit of the vanilla train?

@Wingnut This mod only allows loading of extra data needed by some assets to make use of the game's own trailer variation system which allows for different models for different cargo.

Random Train Trailers gives way more control over trains than the game's normal system, but can also use the trailer variations that this mod loads.

@Capri-Sun This mod doesn't do anything like that, it is only to allow loading of trailer variations in custom assets.
If you want to change the default trains in your city with workshop/asset trains I recommend the Advanced Vehicle Options mod

That wouldn't be authentic. Trucks seldom ride around without a trailer whether the trailer is empty or not.

Masks 1 and 2 can be used for the general goods submeshes, here's the full list:
1 Other
2 Other Empty
4 Animal Products
8 Grain
16 Logs
32 Empty Logs
64 Oil Products
128 Ore
256 Empty Ore

I'm not sure if there is a proper way to hide the main mesh, but if you need it you can always create an invisible mesh (with the wheels at the right location) by just making the entire thing transparent using the alpha texture.

Because main mesh wont disappear, it can only design as trailer frame

I don't think so since the trailer length is the same for all variations, so even if you made a small invisible trailer variation it would take up the same space in traffic.

Would this be useful for making semi's trailers disappear once they're empty? Really ridiculous to have the traffic backups that I do just because there are two dozen trucks with empty trailers each light cycle. Would be nice to see JUST tractors returning to their home.

@aubergine18 Those use another trick I believe, it doesn't actually depend on the actual amount of cargo, just on if the truck is delivering goods somewhere or if it is going back to its 'home' factory. Similar end result, different methods.

@TheArkerportian: There are already several truck assets that use submeshes for difference between full and empty so not sure this mod would be needed for trucks.

Small tip: since the main mesh doesn't seem to disappear if a submesh is shown you can get away with only having the cargo in a submesh when doing coal hoppers, container wagons and other stuff like that.
