Also, the adjacency restriction doesn't seem enforced, I could make them adjacent to each other. I could also make them on tiles with resources like deer etc. Is that intended?

None of my Kans got a yield when I went from ancient to classical, but they did on further eras.

I did have the dance of the aurora pantheon. Could that be related? Perhaps does whatever script you wrote check how much yield the tile already has? THe extra faith from dance of the aurora could screw up the count.
