Metabolism Feels Cared About Now

For anyone else who was hoping to use this mod with 1.4 to help offset the metabolism needs of superior gene pools. Unfortunately it seems that hunger rate is no longer a simple StatDef, and instead more involved in the code from what I can tell. Meaning this mod, as is, is completely dead now.
The only way I can find right now to emulate this is with <hungerRateFactor>, which can be added to hediffs, like with drugs, or body parts (or apparel) themselves as a separate stat. If anyone wants to look into that, you can look for the nuclear stomach diffs in the Royalty code.

For anyone who comes across this, it does appear to work perfectly fine in 1.3 aside from saying it is the wrong version.

Right on. Thanks

Yes, there are stomachs that reduce food consumption

Are you saying this was incorporated into vanilla? I may have missed that. I basically haven't touched the game for a month. I was waiting for things to stabilize a bit. Just starting to build my new mod list.

Why? You already have better stomachs that reduce food consumption
velcroboy333 23 Mar, 2020 @ 1:44am
Any plans for 1.1? Thanks.

I don't mean to rush as it literally just came out, but just giving you a lil poke about this mod because indeed, Metabolism is useless.

Thanks!

It works for everyone as long as the metabolism isn't 100%, the Hunger Rate Multiplier disappearing on animals or when the metabolism is 100% is a game limitation, but it should still work fine.

Does this work for humans only, or does it work for animals too?

I have noticed that (for humans) the 'Hunger rate multiplier' only appears on the information screen if metabolism is not equal to 100%.

I put a bionic animal stomach from A Dog Said on a thrumbo, and the 'Hunger rate multiplier' doesn't show up in the information screen (but it does appear when I put a bionic animal stomach on a human using dev mode).

Is it working to reduce hunger rate and invisible, or is it not working at all?

I was not expecting a comment on this dead comment section, but sure lol, I'll see what I can do

Your About.xml file is in lowercase, can you fix it? It's causing Linux/Mac issues.
pgames-food 18 Jan, 2019 @ 6:03pm
hi, if we dont have bionic stomachs yet, and if some mods items like vitamins or pills give a higher metabolism value, will that also lower thair rate of huger?

btw i couldnt find my glasses and when i looked at the page i though i was seeing words like hagamablabla :)

lol, turns out it was an actual name :)

Wouldn't having bionic intestines make more sense for this since that's where most nutrient absorption happen?

I know Rimworld only has stomachs though. This is a neat concept for a mod though, I like it.

@Jdalt40; Fair enough, I don't blame you. Have a nice day. c:

Removed comments to reduce bloat

Eeeh, it’s currently impossible to do that for me, and I’d rather it be something simple like this. I created this mod purely for my own self. Alternative versions may be considered later on :)
SheakZarnn 8 Nov, 2018 @ 11:36pm
@Jdalt40, Yes, I understand how you want it to work (and it's pretty reasonable, as a game mechanics), but IMO it would be much more awesome to make it a "double-edged sword" stat. High metabolism should force pawn to consume more nutrients, but as a result, that pawn should heal injuries and intoxications faster. Low metabolism would reduce nutrient consumption, but also healing rates.

Wait, Metabolism isn't a factor in hunger for Vanilla???
What the heck! What are the factors then??
Jdalt40  [author] 4 Nov, 2018 @ 3:56am
Honestly the game is just really poor at saying “This stat is inverted”
Hagamablabla 4 Nov, 2018 @ 3:54am
Yeah that's what I mean.
Jdalt40  [author] 4 Nov, 2018 @ 3:31am
Nope guys, enhanced metabolism decreases the food usage
Hagamablabla 4 Nov, 2018 @ 3:08am
You could also use metabolism as a way of saying how many nutrients you get from the same amount of food. It's not perfect, but you can't make getting a bionic stomach a bad thing.
SheakZarnn 4 Nov, 2018 @ 2:31am
So... just to make sure... it means that people with high metabolism require more food, right? 'Cause either your snapshot is really misleading, or... you miss the point of high metabolism IMO
