im not seeing the option to multiclass at all. only option is to train rookies. i added my modded classes to ini and i rebuilt my facility

Any easy way to make the abilities from this go to the 5th tree slot rather than the 4th for 3-tree classes + random XCOM ability compatibility?

I Multiclassed a Grenadier with the Sharpshooter. Got the skills and Pistol (tried 3rd and 4th item slot) But during tactical, the only thing I could do with the pistol was Pistol Overwatch... I could not use Lightning Hands, or whatever. So I tried interchange the position of Pistol and Grenade Launcher... still no dice (but i can launch nades).

Hmmm conflict with Iridar's Dual Wield Pistol? Will try disabling that..

This mod, at the very least, has issues when installed with GTS only trainable classes. In my case they were completely incompatible.

As it stands because of that I'm trying to add K's officer class to the list of multiclassable classes, but it's not showing up even though I've added the class and its perks in the config. Is there anything special you need to do to get one added to the list?

Question about adding classes: The lines like "+SwordPerks", what do they do? Is i'm adding classes that use LW2 secondaries, do I need to do something like that with them?

@PZ I love the idea of this mod, just wish it had compatibility with Dedicated Pistol Slot and it was easy to add other spec lines (I'd love to see Ballistic Shields and the LW2 Secondaries) - it'd probably replace RPGO in that case for me.

Now to my question, would you perhaps have more detailed set of instructions written up somewhere that gives tips on getting custom classes to work? I'm sort of bumbling my way through it with only limited success, but it's interesting and exactly what I was looking for coming down from RPGO.

PZ, this mod is freakin' AMAZING. I've had it downloaded for a good long time, but only just recently got it working after I got rid of about 100 other mods and cleaned things up a bit.

I've had some success now getting it to work, but it's been very hit or miss. Some soldiers can multiclass, and others not, and I'm not really sure why. You list sergeant rank as the minimum, but I've never been given the option for anybody lower than a Lt.

I added the Akimbo class to your list, and built a working tree so that I can have people multiclass into or out of the Akimbo line in addition to the standard four. That's working great.

I tried to do the same with the WOTC_APA_Specialist "Tech Specialist" class from the Proficiency Pack, and for the life of me I can't figure out what's holding me up.

I try to make an old class but my modbuddy is not working, yet. In LW2 (I think) itwas a class called shinobi orsomething like that. I wonder do you have the time to include that class ?

If anyone takes the time and makes a custom list of compatible classes and perks, might be worth uploading it somewhere. I'm sure most of us play with a bunch of custom classes and would appreciate someone who knows what they're doing simply pasting their code into a discussion for the rest of us to use. Or templates, at the very least.

Do anyone have tried to use this with Psionic training mod? I want to add the fourth line to my Psionic soldiers unfortunately I don't know how to make them multiclass

PS: If I can train My sniper to multiclass reaper skill that would be great

Custom classes aren't working for me atm, but I think its cause all four rows of abilities are taken up. Hence my question. Will do further testing.

It says no viable soldier. But I have lots of Sgt+ already. Does this conflict with mods that add GTS perks?

I typically use the ranger’s scout row since it’s usable between all classes, but all the rows you put together for this mod would work even better. Is this overwrite something that can be done via ini files or would it take more work? Ideally, I’d like to disable XCOM abilities and use this mod as a replacer for that row.

It wouldn't be hard to overwrite the third row with custom abilities,but with what? And what to do with the abilities that are already there? (And might have been purchased)

I love the idea behind this mod! Would there be any way to implement these changes as a replacement for XCOM abilities? Or if not, do you know if any way to make XCOM abilities consistent between playthroughs? I’ve been using I’m The Commander Here but setting the abilities to match between soldiers gets tedious. Thanks!

Also you can't have the same skill in both rows, it will replace the third row skill with a different skill

If it adds a 4th row and I may already use LW2 Classes and Perks (already four rows: Three trees and XCOM), its unfortunate that it may not work with it. But I still wanted to give you huge props since this is an amazing idea for more diversity.

Thank you for this!!! This and I'm the commander here let me make exactly the kind of soldiers I want! Yes they are way overpowered but I also make the game crazy hard because that's what's fun for me. You are on a roll PZ, thanks again!

No, not out of the box, anyway. Faction hero classes aren't ever going to work because they already have 4 rows. You could try adding psions to the ini but I'm not sure if they'll work right.

Well I know that people would like this idea, for progression. But Without it working with all installed classes, its just Ok. If this came out right before WOTC, or around the time LW came out it would have been great, but again RPGO does pretty much everything this does, with more added.

I'm not saying don't work on, or subscribe to it. infact the Opposite, i want this mod to improve.
If this worked with all installed classes, It would be great Alternative to RPGO.

But as is, its just Base game seconadaries, which is a definity improvement over the Base game anyway.

Maybe because not everyone like RPGO? No mod is ever "late" to the modding community. And mods like RPGO while a really great fun mod, it's not the end all be all. So there is always room for mods like this for people that like this approach. I for one would chose this over RPGO. Again, RPGO is a great fun mod and has a lot going for it, but it's not my style. And many others including this mods author makes mods that she wants to play and others have asked for. In the end, it's all about options for all.

this is cool, but I feel like this mod was... really... really late to the modding community.
I mean its a decent alt to RPGO, but I'm confused at why one would choose this over RPGO?

Like if some how it was possible, to have it where this works with all installed classes, then It would be great, because some people like the nostgic tree system, more than the RPGO one.

It should work fine for primary secondaries if you aren't trying to add perks for your primary secondary. (e.g., you multiclass into Sharpshooter and buy pistol perks for a primary pistol) I'm unsure if it will work right if you are, but I can probably fix it if not, so try it out and let me know.

You can only train the standard 4 classes, and you can only multiclass into the standard 4 classes. It's relatively easy to add new classes that are allowed to multiclass. It's harder (but still doable) to add new classes that you're allowed to multiclass into, because you have to decide on a list of perks for them and make sure everything works right.
