It expanded my mind the first time I saw it in action
Now my skull doesnt fit regular non expando zones anymore

Note: if you use Better Stockpile Designator , you need to put Expando Zone before it in the load order, or the button won't be available. Expando Zones won't inherit the handling that BSD provides, but it'll at least work as it would with an otherwise vanilla game.

It updates every 250 ticks and is implemented as a game component to reduce overhead. I could make update rate configurable if anyone's running into performance issues.

This seems to trigger update alot, in updates on game ticks? If so, that would be no lag friendly i quess.

Good call, I've updated the description. There's also a toggle for the zone itself, so you can turn off auto-expanding for a specific expando zone if you want to change its shape temporarily. I've got a video of the zone in action, but it's not really clear that it's separate, so good call on adding an image.

Indeed, if you place a 1x1 zone in a room that's, say, 10x10, and the game isn't paused, it will then fill up the room. It doesn't do this by growing organically, but rather by expanding immediately to fill the entire room.

Oh, so there is a seperate zone @@ You should include that imformation in your Description. And an imagine on how that special zone would look like. So if I place that special zone 1x1 in a room, it will auto expand to fill the room?

I'm unsure what bugs you mean. The way I generally use it is making a small zone inside a room, and then it expands into the room, as expected. If you don't want expansion you just use a normal zone.

It will fill the whole room, but won't override any existing zones.

to elaborate why im so grateful, try imagining a 1k/1k map with 80 pawns, 3 of every crafting table, and 32 or 33 stockpiles i have to manually expand...EVERY...DAMN...TIME...I...DIG... in a mountainous region.
