how would I go about editing mta_punishment_events.txt? I'd really like to allow Middle Eastern rulers and ZUN reformers feed people to lions.
Imperator of Rome 15 Mar, 2023 @ 2:56pm
Could you update this so that we can select from more than just three choices?
Balista 21 Dec, 2022 @ 11:35pm
@Notorious Choker Why are you on every mod page saying "DL with warning"...what is the warning? seems kinda sus
Bio the Human 3 Aug, 2022 @ 1:06pm
Awesome mode, but isn't it a little bit op since it doesn't ask for peiety cost?
Notorious Choker 25 Jul, 2021 @ 5:23pm
I don't think he ever checked out that situation down below. Download with warning!
Blanc 28 May, 2021 @ 11:47pm
Good mod. But how can I castrate someone without torturing them first? I want the straight-to-the-point
Genseric123 16 Feb, 2020 @ 7:17am
are you planning on transferring this mod over to CK3 when it comes out?
Captain8aker 22 Dec, 2019 @ 4:45am
can cannibal characters devour a prisoner as a punishment with this mod?
G.Strategos 18 May, 2019 @ 6:21am
@Sowilo
Any updates ?
Cheers!
BorisTheAnimal 13 May, 2019 @ 12:16pm
what about having less reasons for tyranny, eg.: irl, a traitorous rebel would be thankful his liege took away all his holdings and was about to execute him, instead of imprisoning and executing all his extended family for his crime.
btsullivan 5 May, 2019 @ 9:57am
Does this work with Merciless Ruler?
Sowilo  [author] 24 Feb, 2019 @ 6:30am
@solanesque Thanks for the feedback, and I'll put this on my to do list to look into! There's no doubt a couple of valid reasons for executions I missed implementing, since I had to basically reverse engineer every legitimate reason the hardcoded execution option had to make mine work similar.
solanesque 23 Feb, 2019 @ 8:00pm
This is really nice. :lunar2019piginablanket: One thing I noticed though; I once got tyranny malus from a specific execution, without warning, and in a case where regular execution (ie chosen randomly) would only give a piety hit (lowborn imprisoned for plotting). Needless to say I would have chosen -10 piety over 30 years of -10 opinion with vassals, heh.
lake chud 6 Jan, 2019 @ 6:43am
Can you make it so we can choose specific humiliations?
[TPPL] King Leonidas 1 Jan, 2019 @ 7:13am
indeed, btw i also think if the victim manages to go through the blood eagle without screaming he should gain prestige ;P
Unnamed_Shadow 30 Dec, 2018 @ 12:06am
I feel some of this executions should give piety. Since some of them appear to be kinda religious by nature.
natholemew 29 Nov, 2018 @ 5:10pm
Direct download link? I havent been able to get workshop to work for ages
Sowilo  [author] 29 Nov, 2018 @ 12:11pm
@Hetaira It should work fine with existing save games. If you're worried at all, it's good practice before installing mods in an existing game to back up your save, just in case.
Hetaira 29 Nov, 2018 @ 11:11am
Is this save game compatible?
Sowilo  [author] 29 Nov, 2018 @ 2:40am
@Hrulj No problem, glad it was something so simple!
CreamTheCheeks 29 Nov, 2018 @ 2:33am
Thank you!
Sowilo  [author] 29 Nov, 2018 @ 2:31am
@mgjh Currently it doesn't, and brazen bull is an option for any cruel Hellenic pagans, but it doesn't trigger the events that pop up when you use the bloodline decisions.

I haven't played Holy Fury yet to really know what this bloodline is like or if it should have any interaction with it, though, only seen it in the code, but feedback is welcome if you think it should in some way.
Sowilo  [author] 29 Nov, 2018 @ 2:24am
@Hrulj Right click their portrait, the same place you do actions like Send Gift, Take Concubine, etc. Do you see the Specific Execution and Specific Mutilation options there?
mgjh 29 Nov, 2018 @ 2:24am
How does this mod interact with the brazen bull bloodline?
CreamTheCheeks 29 Nov, 2018 @ 2:20am
I do have both DLC and the mod Enabled. Specific decision where? Right click on their profile? Not execution thing?
Sowilo  [author] 29 Nov, 2018 @ 2:05am
@Hrulj They are separate decisions, "Specific Execution" and "Specific Mutilation" that don't replace the originals. They also require Reaper's Due like the decisions in the original game. Do you have the mod enabled? I can't think of any reason they wouldn't be visible.
CreamTheCheeks 29 Nov, 2018 @ 1:59am
I have the mod installed but it's not showing up with options to torture, mutilate or kill. Playing as a Norse, mutilations and executions still happen old way.
BorisTheAnimal 27 Nov, 2018 @ 1:18pm
@sowilo ling chi is just the slicey one, the others belong to the five punishments, wu xing if im not mistaken
BorisTheAnimal 27 Nov, 2018 @ 1:09pm
@Sowilo damn youre right! I really got to check all the other cultures in the game im currently in a rome playthrough, this mod is really good, great job! also btw idk if this can go into an execution or something but the aztec sacrifice to tlaloc ( the rain god ) involved making children cry before the standard out-with-ye-heart sacrifice, just a really metal thing imo
Sowilo  [author] 27 Nov, 2018 @ 7:36am
@BorisTheAnimal The Chinese execution you're describing is lingchi, right? Along with strangulation, those are some good ideas, since I think I have the least unique options for Han, Tibetan cultures, and Bon right now.

Trampling to death by horses is currently in the game for Nomads. I think Aztecs have burning at the stake, but I could probably separate this into a burning alive execution for them and some other cultures. Schapism is also in for Persians--check out the third screenshot!

Thanks for all these ideas.
BorisTheAnimal 27 Nov, 2018 @ 4:34am
@Sowilo Happy to help! here are some other executions i can remember from the top of my head: mongo: rolled in a carpet and trampled by horses (for nobles as the sky god didnt see their blood) Aztec: ritual gladiatorial combat (sacrifice, very prestigious) Also aztec: burning people alive as sacrifices to huehueteotl. Chinese: (the poor exile really meant that i didnt know what they would do to him) the five punishments: tattooing, cutting off the nose, amputation of the feet, castration, flogging with bamboo. Also china: strangulation, decapitation (meh),and slow slicing :D. persian: Scaphism, aka force fed honey until full, then sealing victim except head in a tub/barrel/two boats tied togheter and leaving them to be slowly eaten away by flies while submerged in a tub of their own feces where their body is slowly being decomposed while still alive
Dawid 26 Nov, 2018 @ 11:11pm
nice
Sowilo  [author] 26 Nov, 2018 @ 3:18pm
@BorisTheAnimal Appreciate you giving more ideas, and glad you like my implementation of your other one! I may possibly add these in the future, especially a kinslayer/adulterer specific one.

@fuke Currently no. The Roman execution list is already pretty full with a lot of different checks for what appears, and I'd have to make a new execution reason (not hard, but currently the ones used in my mod are all from the base game, though some are unused by it). But I might add it as an option to use on kinslayers/adulterers in the future.
BorisTheAnimal 26 Nov, 2018 @ 12:50pm
@fuke wasnt it just for adulterers and kinslayers?
fuke 26 Nov, 2018 @ 10:10am
Is there poena cullei for Romans? (Sewn into leather sack with a dog, snake, monkey, and a chicken or rooster, and then being thrown into water)
BorisTheAnimal 26 Nov, 2018 @ 4:51am
you sir are a legend! if you´d like some more insight on roman executions: kinslayers and adulterers were thrown to the river in a bag with snakes and nobles were garroted
Sowilo  [author] 25 Nov, 2018 @ 6:57pm
Thanks for all the positive feedback. Just added a special new execution option for Romans.

@SolusContinuum As Malivamar said, it's from one of the DLC since I'm not currently running any graphics mods, but I'm not sure which.
Solus 25 Nov, 2018 @ 6:42pm
Maybe, thank you.
Ritter Ayla 25 Nov, 2018 @ 6:16pm
weird, maybe you have a conflicting mod or something?
Solus 25 Nov, 2018 @ 5:45pm
Are you sure? I have all of those and I've never seen that helmet in my game.
Ritter Ayla 25 Nov, 2018 @ 5:34pm
Mediterranean portrait pack and either Charlemagne or Old Gods since that specific helmet only appears in the very early game, then switches to the normal greek one at 950ad.
Solus 25 Nov, 2018 @ 5:28pm
What graphical mod are you using that gives the Greeks those helmets in picture 4? Or is it not a mod and I'm just missing a DLC?
mouse 25 Nov, 2018 @ 5:05pm
Thank you for this. It had always annoyed me that execution method was random. Sometimes there is that person I truly believe needs to die by being burned at the stake or gored by a boar.
Sowilo  [author] 25 Nov, 2018 @ 12:04pm
@BorisTheAnimal Yup. Currently Roman Hellenics have beheading, crucifixion, and disembowelment, and cruel Roman Hellenics have crucifixion, disembowelment, and the brazen bull. Throwing to the beasts is a great idea I didn't think of, though--I'll actually add that in place of disembowelment in the next update for them.
a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ archer 25 Nov, 2018 @ 10:50am
great mod
BorisTheAnimal 25 Nov, 2018 @ 10:37am
does it have executions for roman pagans? i.e. crucifixion and throwiing to the beasts (boar, snakes, bear execs)
Sowilo  [author] 24 Nov, 2018 @ 10:27pm
@Malivamar Unfortunately it is not. Only some mods that are purely cosmetic and don't change anything to do with gameplay are.
Ritter Ayla 24 Nov, 2018 @ 9:54pm
Is it Ironman compatible?
VOID CONTROL 24 Nov, 2018 @ 6:19pm
10/10
Orange1861 23 Nov, 2018 @ 3:48pm
Alright good, what's the point of torturing them once and then letting them go?
