Nice map, any suggestions how to remake a map as fast and efficient as possible? When I try to do a remake of a map i enter the reveal map cheat so i can see the walls clearly.

Very nice update, more balanced regarding security and still quite challenging. You also have my support for the creation of your campaign, I'll make sure to check it out.

Consider the map updated. I have a few more maps to finish because I want to release a whole campaign's worth. 16 Missions with their own story. Hopefully sometime soon I will get the inspiration to finish them. But this one will do for now, rebalanced and tweeked. Enjoy!

This heist is quite challenging, mostly because of the high number of NPC. It's still deserve its posititon in the top rated maps and I do hope to play it again with a enhanced update.
Flamant Rose 16 Oct, 2017 @ 10:36am
As saif by some other people, it would be very nice if this map got uptaded to enhanced.

Other than that it's a pretty challenging map, about a thousand eyes to watch you move from bush to bush, and if no one is watching you, you should get going because the laser is going to rotate back to you.

Would die again 8/10

If this map is ever updated for enhanced(and I hope it does) here just a few suggestions of my own:

Possibly look to cut down on number of civs/npcs a bit. Got a similar feeling like lizard did on the civ count, a few traps feel offputting. (like pads on heli and laser on first floor that goes thru window. scan lasers for atm feels overkill, especially taking into account the huge # of npcs there)

Maybe consider creating areas to block LoS, make wide open areas less open? (like garage on first floor for instance)

@Frodo Baggins: It's alot easier than it sounds. Differ3nce posted a very helpful guide that should make it easy to add dialogue to your mission:

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=153597531#102812

Navigate to the "Folders and changing the dialogue" section on the right to find what you need.

One helpful piece of advice however concerning the 255 character limit; If you save the dialogue for last (after finishing the map to perfection) you are able to bypass the 255 limit without it being annoying because of the crashes (game will still crash when saving but it does save the mission and the dialogue). After that just run it again and submit the map to the workshop.

hello, i am new at making monnaco maps and i need to ask, how do you change the diolauge defore the mision starts. Al i can get it to say on my maps is the "waiting on you, chief" thing.

[ext] As for the lack of anything on the forums about publishing the maps prior to the beginning of the competition:

I guess it's not in the official posted rules, but I had asked Andy directly about entering an old map I made into the bank heist mission; he said no, and that it had to be a new map on the workshop to be elligible.

I'll bring this up with him about this case (I had no idea it wasn't on the post), and hopefully we can resolve this officially.
Durgrobach 8 Oct, 2013 @ 6:25pm
Wow Mexicutioner... That was a little hostile...

My reply was to both you and Lizard, and what I meant by you monopolizing the competition was in no way meant as an insult. You are by far the most talented mapper in the community; I did miswrite my post a bit when I said:

"and were going to give the 5th to someone else" -

We only discussed it, not all too seriously I might add, and all of the judges thought your map to be the best, including myself. I also explicitly said in my reply:

"... we thought it would be more unfair to give someone else the win just because you had won 2 already than to give it to you again."

So we weren't going to go "communist" at all, so no need for the hostility.

3. Why you referring to Lizard as well with the last post? Is there some salt going on behind the scenes that I don’t know about? That’s fine, gives the victories a bit of flavor. On a more personal level if me winning is bothering you all so much, I will just recall my submission then. Enjoy the communism!
[unassigned]  [author] 8 Oct, 2013 @ 2:02pm
1. Doesn't say that under the topic post or in any comment post. If you are referring to the post in reply to MonkeyPocket about not releasing it publicly until after the deadline (since that is the only thing I found remotely related to what you are saying), then quite a lot of other submissions (almost all of them) have to be disqualified as well for that.

2. I don’t quite understand on what you mean by that second paragraph. In either case denying someone a win on the grounds that they've "won enough times already" is simply unfair judging. I can understand wanting variety in winners but that’s on everyone else to step up their game. However, you got to understand where I am coming from; think about the amount of time and pressure to make a mission per week as I did (not even Andy made the campaign maps that fast).
Durgrobach 7 Oct, 2013 @ 10:35pm
@Lizard_Buttock and ATF_El_Mexicutioner //

This level is not elligible for Contest #6, as it was published prior to the competition.

Andy and I had a conversation about you monopolizing the compeition actually, and were going to give the 5th to someone else, but we thought it would be more unfair to give someone else the win just because you had won 2 already than to give it to you again.

Great levels though, Andy will probably message you about something in the near future (if he hasn't already).
(falls over) (screams) 7 Oct, 2013 @ 9:42am
I don't really like the level. It's just too hard in my opinion. The traps weren't an issue: They were placed sparingly with the exception of a few stray rotating lasers and scanner doors. The issue was the guards and civilians. I just couldn't help myself from being caught by a civilian. There were very few safe hiding places, especially with the patrolling swatgunners. I do find it a bit lazy how you just renamed a previously made level to enter the contest.
Lurpac1981 4 Aug, 2013 @ 11:50am
looks good going to give it a go
RayRay 23 Jul, 2013 @ 9:47am
Good level design, it's got variety equivalent to the stock levels, and isn't like most other levels which are big empty rooms with lasers/guards symetrically plastered :)

Thank you so much guys for your input! To those who have enjoyed my map, I will let you in on a little secret: Mr. Montez has a secret floor in which he enjoys quiet solitude. Kudos if you find it!

No problem. Mighty fine map

cool map. thx for your effort!

Each floor has about two 2 Health packs, in addition to more healing through the Band-Aid on the first floor with just about 200 coins in the entire building. I tried to balance each class to have an advantage on each floor in different areas; in Mole's case, he has some nice safe shortcuts on second floor and on the street level as well. If you speed through the level on your first or second try you might not get far, as I intended for you to plan out your moves before you act. Also for a while, a single player Mole actually held first place rank.
Psych 17 Jul, 2013 @ 7:08pm
If a level is hard that's one thing but this thing is just nasty. Too few health packs, and placing them in full view of stationary guards is like an unfunny joke. And what's with all the unbreakable walls? How the heck is the mole supposed to make it through this one?
BadMariachi 17 Jul, 2013 @ 3:02pm

Great map, I think that not spreading the loot gives it a somewhat more plausible background. (You wouldn't expect finding gold all over the floor, would you)
[unassigned]  [author] 11 Jul, 2013 @ 8:07am
My thoughts exactly. Also random spawning adds to the replay value to the map adding a bit of chance into the mix.
Differ3nce 11 Jul, 2013 @ 7:07am
I really recommend placing random loot if you want to recreate the feel of the original campaign. If you just look at that you'll see that most of the coins are random loot, only some loot is placed on casino tables and such. Also be careful with placing too much loot as the players will get to many item uses.
[unassigned]  [author] 11 Jul, 2013 @ 7:02am
First floor too easy it seems? I might agree with you there a bit in certain places. Although I did want to add larger packs of stationary loot I didn't want to give you too much coin.
76561197988770059 11 Jul, 2013 @ 4:27am
Bad map, I finished it in like 2 weeks. So too short and too easy. Only died 31 times.
c 11 Jul, 2013 @ 4:20am
1. Awesome map
2. I would disagree with another commenter, I would rather stick to larger packs of stationary loot instead of randomly placed.
3. The first floor is a bit on the easy side, most alarms are not very damaging if tripped.
