Satisfying puzzle, nice to watch the walk-through after to vindicate all the running being necessary regardless.

ANFRACTUOUS meaning: 1. having a lot of bends or curves .

This was my first hard puzzle way back, still a favorite.
jodamester70 8 Feb @ 11:39am
My first hard difficulty map, really glad I could solve it. Lots of walking though... I guess that's just inherent to maps with so many steps.
brucer 8 Oct, 2024 @ 5:40pm
spectacular! kinda melted my brain a little bit ;)
Antechamber 26 Apr, 2024 @ 7:39pm
I suck and had to use the guide about 70% into the puzzle. Only gripe is making the circular hole near the exit WAY more obvious as I didn't even register its existence. Regardless, phenomenal map, Very well designed.
skit_inventor 5 Jan, 2024 @ 4:14am
Kind of relieved seeing this as a hard difficulty rating, because oh my god was that insane. Well, maybe I wouldn't have spent almost 2 hours stuck at a certain point if I hadn't been a big dum dum and realized that you can just place the cube/cubes onto the transparent panel and then go around and drop them by standing on the button . God I hate these moments of sudden stupidity =(
Eric Northman 28 Aug, 2023 @ 2:28pm
it was great and most fun puzzle that i played
LeventK 15 Aug, 2023 @ 1:26pm
As a player with just over fifty hours on record, this took me 90 minutes to solve. I don't know if it is good or bad, but solving the puzzle alone feels really, really good.
Double H 29 Jul, 2023 @ 2:21am
This chamber is insane, but I managed to solve it. It's one hell of a cognitive gauntlet.
G4lvatron 23 Feb, 2023 @ 4:53pm
Great puzzle! Almost took me an hour.
JiggleYourJerkyMrTurkey 12 Jul, 2022 @ 11:21am
I had a lot of fun playing this one, especially when I finally figured out how to get the cubes to the starting area . Excellent map!
Aneonen 21 May, 2022 @ 11:07pm
Nice puzzle! Great player-loops. Biggest obstacle in solving was obsessive portal-preservationism, and realizing when it would be inconsequential to walk through a fizzler.
SpielSatzFail 25 Sep, 2021 @ 6:05am
I remembered there was this devilish move in the original, unfortunately I remembered wrong regarding the details ^^
I knew I needed to use that one special white panel, but in my mind I tried to align the laser cube somewhere inside the laser room instead of "simply" executing the weighted cube sacrifice move, haha!
This map means going around in circles even if you do the correct order of steps ;-)
FYI the map was a bit laggy and I don't know why, since it's neither anything special in it nor is it huge. Weird. (there were only one or two corners in which I was able to move smoothly)
P.S. "adds a secondary usage to one of the lasers"... alright :steammocking::steamhappy:
Dolphiner 31 Aug, 2021 @ 2:25am
Thankfully not as brutal as I expected, but an amazing puzzle nonetheless. I loved planning how to get both cubes to the exit area, and found the weighted cube respawn felt really satisfying when I finally found that move . Great job, faved!
mabelpines 24 May, 2021 @ 10:33pm
Nice job

My journey with this puzzle took me more than a month. I tried it, failed, then found it again to try it again, and this time, I completed it.

This puzzle requires you to see the bigger picture of the level to realize what you should do, and when I did, I was so satisfied, and the rest of the solution just came to my mind easily.

Added to favourites, thanks for the fun!
bullfrog 30 Sep, 2020 @ 2:07am
As I go through my list of favourite maps, this one has got to be in the top 10 :)
AnarchistPrime 11 Aug, 2020 @ 5:24am
Fantastic. I did need to view a playthrough to figure out a couple of steps. I think it's the most difficult map of the dozens (hundreds?) of chambers I've played. But it's fair. I would love to have solved it without help, but it is what it is!
wildgoosespeeder 19 Mar, 2020 @ 1:38pm
Hey, I remember playing something similar to this, but I couldn't find the map for the longest time!

Incredible, really had me confused on where I was going, thought I was leading straight to a dead end, but there always seemed to be something to do :)
asd417 1 Nov, 2019 @ 9:44pm
I have finally solved this..

good map well lit
Teo 27 Oct, 2019 @ 11:29am
Even better the second time around :]
Reika 3 Oct, 2019 @ 9:11am
Holy crap. I tried this three times, stopping what felt like 40-50% of the way through, having just bridged the door room and the rear laser area with a portal (about 8 minutes in the walkthrough), thinking that it was clearly exceeding my abilities.

And yet, all three times, I was 80-90% of the way there, only needing a couple more actions.

I am glad I tried a fourth time. :P
Petutski 26 Aug, 2019 @ 12:05am
A lot of Deja Vu playing a remake, but still challenging and fun. Got fooled at least once because the pedestal has moved! Thanks for your work.
matias 8 Aug, 2019 @ 11:21pm
One of the best puzzles i have ever played, really challenging, thanks for making this!
AndyJS 18 Jun, 2019 @ 10:57pm
This was brilliant! I really enjoyed this, and I wish that I could make my maps as nice as this. Thankyou for creating; I'm looking forward to going through more of your collection and to whatever else you've got coming up!
zeo1337 5 Jun, 2019 @ 4:45pm
turrets?
zeo1337 5 Jun, 2019 @ 4:41pm
Ahh, got it! I was trying to get the plain cube back using the funnel and laser
zeo1337 4 Jun, 2019 @ 1:50pm
I'm stuck, but very close. I'll go back to it.
Nobody No-One 31 May, 2019 @ 7:06pm
half an hour is actually relatively quick for this map
NOT A DOG 28 May, 2019 @ 11:59am
difficulty hard?
more like ..."Suicide" hard!
it took me almost half an hour!

but very clever map! i liked it
joe98 10 Apr, 2019 @ 12:44am
Waay tooo big. Have no idea where to go. You need to supply an aircraft so I can get around :)
Teo 30 Mar, 2019 @ 7:24am
That was very good, like, extremely good. Definitely one of my favorite maps of all time
Nobody No-One 8 Mar, 2019 @ 3:44pm
@quaternary the turrets are explained in the comments to Mikeastro's video
quat 6 Mar, 2019 @ 8:37pm
Watch out for goo glitch, I'm getting very broken reflections from certain angles because of the differing goo heights. (and I play with high FOV).

Normally I don't like puzzles which don't feel super cohesive, but here I think it works - it's almost like you're using the laser area and the middle area to "make sense of" the exit area. ANd it looks very pretty too.

Btw what's up with the turrets? Lol
KAKTUS ‡SvK‡ 2 Mar, 2019 @ 10:56am
good job ,fun :cozybethesda:
Gigo 1 Mar, 2019 @ 6:46pm
Really nice puzzle
Mikeastro 13 Feb, 2019 @ 2:14pm
Excellent puzzle! I really enjoyed it; quite tough, very clever and satisfying to solve. In case you're interested, here's my blind run The map looked great too :)
Spider_Dawg 6 Feb, 2019 @ 5:10pm
Wow. That last little trick, which now seems obvious, held me up forever. Found it by luck. Thanks so much for creating some really cool, challenging puzzles.
quatrus 22 Dec, 2018 @ 8:17am
hard puzzle. took a while to figure out how to use the hole from the exit chamber to the portal surface. Thanks for creating again.
Miami Mike 13 Dec, 2018 @ 10:27am
Awesome test! Maybe the best one I've played, and I've been playing Portal 2 since it came out.
BaRa.95. 12 Dec, 2018 @ 12:21pm
Nice test just takes too much walking...
Joric 11 Dec, 2018 @ 10:22am
My playthrough, 5 minutes: https://youtu.be/CkbWWRZ3zPU I love quickies! Difficulty 5/10.
bullfrog 11 Dec, 2018 @ 12:04am
As with the original; this is an absolutely brilliant puzzle. Good update, especially making ‘that surface’ more obvious. The following spoiler playthrough (well, almost: I've played the original and I had a look around first to note the changes) is (probably?) the intended solution, if you ignore the mistakes ;) intended solution ?
jandlml 10 Dec, 2018 @ 9:03pm
excellent map!! faved!! i was totally wrong in what i was trying to do then all of a sudden it was like oh thats it. love when that happens. :steamhappy:
jandlml 10 Dec, 2018 @ 7:29pm
im so stuck. can you tell me if im good so far i have the reg cube on the button that turns the laser on. i have the laser cube pointing the laser at the relay that flips the panel. i have a portal on the panel and another on the surface below the button that drops the laser cube which has the orange funnel on. i am with the reg cube.
Libbybapa 9 Dec, 2018 @ 10:02am
Looks great Fumbly! One thing that I noticed is that the upper goo pit does not have any reflections (appears satin rather than gloss) which occurs when the goo levels are split. IMO it would look better if you lowered that goo to the same level as the other so it had reflections.
Nobody No-One 9 Dec, 2018 @ 8:24am
Excellent remake. I really like all the changes, especially replacing the deceptive white panels next to the exit door with a clearly visible panel. The test chamber is still challenging, but it no longer relies on tricking players into thinking something is just for aesthetics when it's actually part of the solution. The aesthetics are excellent as usual. Thumbs up and definitely added to favorites.
