awesome, for those who's plane wiggles up and down a lot, decrease VspdPterm
mikeyurenia 21 Jul, 2024 @ 8:15pm
Is it possible to make a submarine version of this? pls
NightArmer32 8 Feb, 2024 @ 7:27pm
this might be a stupid question but if i was to put this on a sub how do i get it to like go below 0. ive already put it on a sub and try many different depth controls but theyre too erratic hopping to find something smooth

Can you see if the small control surfaces are deflecting properly? (aka to climb and the flip the other way past the altitude? or if they are moving at all? It could be inverted, and thus trying to control the wrong direction
Rokify 9 Dec, 2023 @ 4:26pm
hey, i have a question... ive connected everything up and put different control surfaces right underneath my mai ones. whe i turn the AP on, the plane goes to the altitude but just keeps going after, for example if i am at 90 meters and set the altitude on my small keypad to 300meters, it climbs to 300 but doesnt stop and continues going infinitly

ive messed a bit with the values of the clamp and the VspdPtern and AltPtern but nothing changes.

It goes to either your control surface. Or an add block then your control surface if you are using the same surface as your main controls

What does control out go to??
Tesla 21 Mar, 2020 @ 4:35pm
That seems to do it. It'll follow my desired vertical speed now. Thank you so much for responding !
Tesla 21 Mar, 2020 @ 4:29pm
Thanks man. Yeah i ended up using this MC for my release, both of my releases actually because it is so accurate. But i'll check the clamp in the MC.
Leanier  [author] 21 Mar, 2020 @ 2:33pm
Adjusting the clamp is the correct way to set it, it is set to +- 30 right now. There didn't seem to be an easier way to tune that.

Go ahead and use it!
KanaSalaatti 21 Mar, 2020 @ 3:11am
Cool! Mind if I use this in my creation?
Neottious 21 Mar, 2020 @ 3:09am
Adjust the clamp inside the microcontroller.
Tesla 12 Mar, 2020 @ 8:14pm
I see that i didnt completely explain my question; During altitude change, the vspeed has a limit of 30ms. Is there any way to change that to say max 15ms?
Tesla 11 Mar, 2020 @ 5:05am
Hey thanks man, this works like a charm. It follows the altitude to the digit.
Just if i understand this correctly, i have a fairly big aircraft im using this MC on, and my VspdPTerm is currently 0.5. Do i increase it or decrease it in desimals due to the size ?
(OTR) 0xferd™ 15 Aug, 2019 @ 6:26pm
ok thanks just making sure if it worked.
Leanier  [author] 15 Aug, 2019 @ 6:25pm
It does yes, might take some tweaking depending on the plane. Such as what I did for TheVortex
(OTR) 0xferd™ 11 Aug, 2019 @ 7:53pm
so this microcontroller will function correctly?
because i need a alt hold for my plane that works correctly.
TheVortex22 20 Jul, 2019 @ 10:57pm
Thanks it works great now!
Leanier  [author] 20 Jul, 2019 @ 7:25am
I got it to work on your plane, here are the steps it needed:
1) Change the vspd to a speed sensor set to only output "Vertical"
2) Add an invert block between the AP and the ADD block
3) on the AP block change: VspdPTerm to .02 and the AltP to 0.5

The last two are to desensitize the autopilot due to the large control surfaces that you have
Let me know if you still can't get it and I could upload a working version.

Here is my plane if you would like to take a look at it, https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/itemedittext/?id=1806493221
TheVortex22 13 Jul, 2019 @ 10:39pm
It will go in the direction of the altitude but cant hold it, it keeps going up and down and eventually crashes
Psycho Ruby 13 Jul, 2019 @ 1:32pm
No it's fine you don't need to.
Leanier  [author] 13 Jul, 2019 @ 9:14am
Billy, are you trying to use it for the helo while hovering? This one is generally designed for forward motion (planes or helos with elevator contol). If I get a chance I can try to see what I would need to do for actual helo hover control
Leanier  [author] 13 Jul, 2019 @ 9:13am
Is it going the correct direction? IE, is vertical the right direction for the altitude it is trying to hold? If not the output might need to be reversed for your design. Otherwise, you can multiply the output by a smaller number to reduce the overall control its allowed (there are ways to do this in the AP block itself if needed)
TheVortex22 11 Jul, 2019 @ 7:05pm
Hi, my plane goes vertical when engaging the auto pilot, now I know you said use smaller elevators but that wont work with my current design. Any ideas?
Psycho Ruby 10 Jul, 2019 @ 5:08pm
Im using this for a heli do you know how to get it to work then? Here is the heli if that helps. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1764698592

That connects to your autopilot trim tab for controlling the pitch of the aircraft. Alternately, it can connect to an add block and then go to your main elevator control surface, but I find autopilots in general are more stable controlling a smaller elevator of their own.
Psycho Ruby 10 Jul, 2019 @ 12:50pm
What does the "Control signal output" connect to?
Leanier  [author] 23 Jun, 2019 @ 1:48pm
Generally if it over reacts your autopilot trim tabs are to large, and either you need to desensitize the AP or reduce your flight control authority.
Leanier  [author] 23 Jun, 2019 @ 1:45pm
Yep using them is fine with credit
modelmaker 15 Jun, 2019 @ 8:31pm
my plane goes straight up or down
Dr. Lector 14 Jun, 2019 @ 5:13am
Hello Leanier, I am using your Altiude hold controller in a few of my creations. Will you be oke with me uploading these to the workshop? Of course I will be crediting you.
TechRaptorJay 10 May, 2019 @ 4:23am
the plane is called A02a Heron by White_Noise
Leanier  [author] 9 May, 2019 @ 9:04pm
Some of that can have to do with plane design, if your center of pressure and CG aren't correctly aligned. Also, sometimes if the plane is twitchy giving the AP smaller control surfaces can help. Feel free to upload the plane and I can take a look at it.
TechRaptorJay 9 May, 2019 @ 8:09am
it makes my plane do flips im trying to find an altitude hold that makes a plane stable and not to make its controll surfaces spaz out.
WoodenPlankGames 10 Jan, 2019 @ 3:46pm
oh wait i'm stupid just use gyro
WoodenPlankGames 10 Jan, 2019 @ 3:45pm
how do i make it not go vertical? my plane stalls when you do that.
