@Camarada Pedro

There's a Ho Chi Minh mod already available in the workshop. But unfortunately, Chrisy15 failed to add music to his mod.

I am glad you used Le Loi instead of Ho Chi Minh. Both are almost equally famous in Viet nam but only one is the undisputed hero of the vietnamese and that is le loi

@☭[SRF]☭ Vietnam Veteran

Unfortunately, ChampiKhan has failed to develop the Vietnam mod, led by Ho Chi Minh, on time. His upcoming mods, especially Socialist Civs, in the list of unreleased civilizations in Civilization V Customization Wikia got deleted by retrocity5.

I'm already angered and insulted by retrocity5's troll because of this.

Where a Ho Shi Min?

thank you. im Vietnamese. i love this MOD
nicovallejos 16 Nov, 2015 @ 8:23pm
I heard the fact that ChampiKhan (as seen in the List of Unreleased Civilizations in the Civilization V customisation wikia) has started producing the Cold War civilizations, particularly Vietnam under Ho Chi Minh. The uniques exclusive to him are the Viet Minh (infantry) and the Tunnels (airport).

Since Vietnam under the Le Dynasty is a civilization from the late medieval to the enlightenment era, I think that flag should be changed. It should be the flag of Dai Viet (as seen in http://www.eu4wiki.com/Dai_Viet) , not the present-day flag of Vietnam.

@theodoreisawesome2013 Thanks, but I already have an idea for a unit. I need a medieval Unique Unit, not the Viet Minh. That's such a cliché. It doesn't fit the rest of the mod either.
geojakob12 1 Mar, 2014 @ 10:35am
Another UU: Trung Sisters. Ancient Vietnamese pair of warrior siblings who resisted Chinese aggression with a co-ed army. They have somewhat folk-hero-ish status in Vietnam, I believe. Perhaps... When killed, grants Morale promotion to the next unit spawned (Vietnamese soldiers carry pictures of the Trung sisters for inspiration) and can raise 1 other unit for 1/2 cost in cities where they are garrisoned (They recruited from among the peasantry). Also possible combat-strength boost in Vietnamese territory.
geojakob12 1 Mar, 2014 @ 10:28am
I'd say Viet Minh for the UU; bonus combat strength and speed in jungles, and promotion available giving super combat strength in Vietnamese territory. Any foreign unit fighting Viet Minh loses combat strength. Replaces Infantry.
For UA, Cao Dai would perhaps work; Grants a great prophet when 2 foreign faiths exist in Vietnamese territory, and plus faith from military units.
creamy_wcp 27 Feb, 2014 @ 6:02pm
jungle fighting units gorilla warfare.
DJSHenninger  [author] 4 Feb, 2014 @ 7:25am
@Longhaul What did you have in mind? Some kind of monks? Thanks for the effort, but I was hoping for a more historical UU. It fits the rest of the uniques better. One day, I will do my best to find a nice unit :P
Ranger8599 4 Feb, 2014 @ 7:16am
@davey_henninger I may have a solution for you. It's not a medieval unit. Look up Cao Dai, its a militant politico-religious sect founded in 1926 in Vietnam. Hope it helps.
Ranger8599 4 Feb, 2014 @ 6:07am
I'll see what I can find to help you out.
DJSHenninger  [author] 4 Feb, 2014 @ 6:04am
@Longhaul I'm not content with the UU myself, but I don't want Viet Cong. I want something of the earlier dynasties, some sort of medieval unit. But I can't seem to find one. Thanks for the compliments.
Ranger8599 3 Feb, 2014 @ 6:55am
Nice MOD! It works well with the other MODs I use. My one compliant is that the unique unit should have been the Viet Cong, but other than that a very well put together MOD. Keep them coming.
DJSHenninger  [author] 1 Jan, 2014 @ 1:39pm
@kaiser Haha, modding is a lot easier than you may think. In the end, it's a lot of copying and pasting. There's a guide, bit it's slightly outdated; there are a couple of other things you would need to know besides that. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=385009
Couldn't find good art of the Trung Sisters, so I chose Ly Thai To. Perhaps I should try to make art from a scratch, but I suck at drawing people lol.
kaiser 1 Jan, 2014 @ 1:10pm
My gf is Vietnamese. I wish I knew how to make mods, because I'd make it based on what she's told me of Vietnam. Naturally I'd make her the leader, or the Trung sisters (Which, on a serious note, that's a good idea for leaders.)

Their unique ability "WE ARE POOR FARMERS, VIETNAM IS THE AFRICA OF ASIA"(quote from her) This would make workers cost no maintenance and boost food production and productivity of jungle tiles.

Their unique unit would be "Charlie"-costs less than infantry, gets bonuses from jungle and wooded tiles and replaces infantry.

I can't think of a unique building though.

@Nutzzz Sure :)
Nutzzz 25 Oct, 2013 @ 11:39am
...the same request goes for John MacDonald and Tomislav, as well!
Nutzzz 25 Oct, 2013 @ 11:32am
@davey_henninger: Hi, I was wondering whether we could use your Ly Thai To leader icon for City States Leaders [forums.civfanatics.com] (with credit of course!)

We're going to have to recolor his background [we're matching color backgrounds to city state traits], so if you could provide your Photoshop/Gimp source file, that'd be even better.

Thanks!
DJSHenninger  [author] 20 Jul, 2013 @ 3:41pm
Thanks! :) I was actually thinking of making one, I have to look into it more. Perhaps I'll make one. Oh yes, the BNW versions are coming soon :P
Pouletroti13 20 Jul, 2013 @ 3:25pm
Can you make a mod for Canadian civilization? I would love to see a canadian civilization in the game. I've seen many of your mods and it's a really good job! (Make more BNW versions please)
newvelaric 16 Jul, 2013 @ 6:39pm
Ah well, I have Vietnam which was my original goal. I am stubborn that way...
DJSHenninger  [author] 16 Jul, 2013 @ 4:14pm
You did not activate BNW right? I have no other explanation. I just tried all of them at once and had no problems.
newvelaric 16 Jul, 2013 @ 4:12pm
I tried to just have one civ-mod activated at a time (no other mod activated). The leader selection was still weird...
DJSHenninger  [author] 16 Jul, 2013 @ 3:53pm
Try to activate them one by one, so I mean just Burma, no other mods. Other mods may somehow cause a similar problem.
newvelaric 16 Jul, 2013 @ 3:45pm
Found it! I understand what happened. I had another mod for Vietnam installed before I found yours. I thought I could have both at the same time. But when it came time to enter the leader selection screen, the older mod won so Ly Thai To did not appear. On a hunch, I decided to delete the other mod and Ly Thai To appeared as a leader. I set up a game and was able to play for half an hour. So the conflict appeared because I had two leaders for one country...

As for the other civ, I actually had Burma, Taiwan and Yugoslavia subscribed. I think the leaders are available during the selection screen, but I am not sure... What happened is: when I had those G & K mods installed, I could not scroll down the leader selection screen... I can confirm that Burma was there, because the leader's name started with an "A" so he was visible, but since I could not scroll down, I could not confirm for the other two... When I uninstalled all three leaders, my selection screen became normal again.
newvelaric 16 Jul, 2013 @ 11:07am
No, I am from the US.
newvelaric 16 Jul, 2013 @ 11:06am
I will do so!
DJSHenninger  [author] 16 Jul, 2013 @ 7:23am
I seriously can't stand it, lol. Could you try some of my other mods and see if that works? They're all G-K versions and not BNW yet, though.
Perhaps it's because you don't play with the english version of the game?
newvelaric 16 Jul, 2013 @ 7:03am
Yes, I have a few extra civs added to my game. Yes, I did press the round button on the right of the mod selection page for the Vietnam civ. No, I am on a Windows 8 machine.

Puzzling isn't it?
DJSHenninger  [author] 16 Jul, 2013 @ 2:18am
- Can you use any other modded civilization at all?
- You do click on the button to activate it, eh?
- Are you using a mac?
newvelaric 15 Jul, 2013 @ 4:44pm
Sorry, the mod has not been recognized. I tried to use subscribe and the manual install. Civ V does not recognize the mod, since it appears on the mod list, but Ly Thai To does not appear on the leader selection list while I try to set the game... It was the same thing with G & K...
DJSHenninger  [author] 15 Jul, 2013 @ 1:04pm
Haha, I'm glad and thank you!
Micamu 15 Jul, 2013 @ 12:58pm
@davey, thank you for the advice. Actually, I tried that some hours ago (deleting the cache file seems to be the solutions to lots of issues with installing mods), and it didn't work. But after reading your comment, I gave it another try and... voilà, the mod is available! No idea why it works now (did you put a spell on it?), but the main thing is, Vietnam can be activated. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
DJSHenninger  [author] 15 Jul, 2013 @ 11:19am
@samu_b Hey, I got a fix for you:
1. Turn off the game.
2. Delete the "Civ5ModsDatabase.db" from "Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache."
3. Launch the game and go to the mod section again.
It took me approx. 15 seconds before anything happened. I literally had dozens of mods updating simultaneously, didn't know that many mods were outdated. Ridiculous.
Well anyway, I hope it works and have fun!
newvelaric 15 Jul, 2013 @ 11:08am
Hey davey! You did it!

Now I can try this civ for BNW!

I'll keep you posted on any problem I encounter!
DJSHenninger  [author] 15 Jul, 2013 @ 10:45am
I also have this problem with a lot of other mods, it just randomly initiates the installation when I click on mods. You may have to restart civ, your computer and/or steam.
It's currently "transferring", try the alternative download if it really doesn't work.
Micamu 15 Jul, 2013 @ 10:25am
After subscribing (no matter if through Steam or through the game), the mod starts being downloaded. However, in the mod list, Vietnam doesn't appear, and neither seems the total mod to be saved on my HD. Anyone else having this issue?
