@chixenlegjo Thank you very much for the kind words! This is indeed one of my favourite puzzles of myself, if I can be so arrogant :] I think I got very lucky with the way this one worked out. Excellent work solving it :cozycrashfish:

I'm surprised such a Small Space has such a Big Solution. I actually started getting really interested in Portal 2 puzzles after seeing this exact trick displayed in the mini-series. I couldn't think of any ways to discreetly put it in my puzzles, and you found three! This is absolutely one of my favorite levels of this game.

@Towelie Clegane Thanks for playing a bunch of my maps! I personally believe that this one is a bit more complex than for example Isomorphism, but ultimately difficulty is always a subjective experience. Also, many of the maps you complain about still having laser collision were made in a time when it wasn't as easy as it is today to disable it, so please excuse me for this! I hope that you continue to enjoy my puzzles :]
Towelie Clegane 2 Nov, 2024 @ 2:17pm
only 2 panels, how can this be so complex ? xD
honestly, you should ask your play tester to rate your puzzle for difficulty. you are way off.
this wasnt harder than isomorphism
also, laser collision off plz, as usual..

I misread this as a 3/10 puzzle before starting so I was expecting this to be solvable with my current understanding of the mechanics. This was a lot harder and even more satisfying than I expected. Went into this without knowing what Talos Principle was! Now I am interested in exploring that game as well. A big hint for this would be to not be afraid to lose portals and to look for ways to constantly re-apply the "first trick" from different perspectives . I would like to also note that some angles are particularly difficult to gauge and cubes on buttons behave a bit unexpectedly and go out of alignment a bit.
mabelpines 13 Mar, 2024 @ 6:40am
Simple and fun map. very nice
zeo1337 26 Sep, 2023 @ 2:06pm
I haven't seen a flip panel. Thanks for the hint,
Mikeastro  [author] 26 Sep, 2023 @ 10:43am
@zeo1337 Did you see that one of the buttons near the door flips an angled panel?
@rasmaniac @Winnie the Mao @233 Thank you all so much for the high praise! I'm still very proud of this map too :cozycrashfish:
zeo1337 26 Sep, 2023 @ 6:31am
This map is logically impossible!?!?

I need the portal on the laser to open the door (It cannot open any other way). I need a different portal to reach the door (It cannot be reached any other way). I cannot move the portal.

I know there has to be a solution, but that seems obviously impossible.
rasmaniac 16 Aug, 2023 @ 3:35pm
Amazing map. Maybe your best. The logic is beautiful, and left me wondering how a human being even comes up with a puzzle like this.

@Mr Fab Thanks for playing! It was interesting to watch you solve it. Especially how you knew the first half of the solution thanks to some Sector 5 ''remake''... xD Glad you liked it!
Mr Fab 22 Jun, 2022 @ 11:18pm
The layout was so small and simple but it was hard to beat.
Great logic and fun puzzle  Favorited !

Aneonen 23 Mar, 2022 @ 5:05pm
Hah, that's pretty funny. My intuition was that the more involved move of utilizing the exit's surface with the laser would somehow be more likely to lead somewhere; I only discovered the key next step after I had set it up. Maybe this is what others were thinking? I'll stop bloating this comment section now, haha.
Mikeastro  [author] 23 Mar, 2022 @ 4:45pm
Ah I see, yeah that angle is actually unintended. It is interesting to me that a fair number of people used that strategy because the intended route, I believe shown in zorth's video, strikes me as conceptually much simpler
Aneonen 23 Mar, 2022 @ 4:41pm
Maybe I'm just clumsy, haha, but the angle at ~1:26 in Joric's video felt somewhat awkward for me to set up due to slight variance in the positions of my cubes along with the cube-dropping button and close wall. It wasn't a big deal but for a moment I was concerned that I might be doing something unintended.
Mikeastro  [author] 23 Mar, 2022 @ 3:44pm
@Aneonen Thanks for playing! Great work solving it. I am not really sure what part you found cramped near the yellow fizzler, though.
Aneonen 23 Mar, 2022 @ 2:54pm
Nice puzzle! I'm no good at shufflers, so it took quite some time to overcome my portal-preservationist instinct. Before and after that point were much smoother. I do feel like this map has aged a bit; the logic is quite neat but I personally found some of the angles/placements a bit cramped, particularly in the corner near the yellowish fizzler.
Talisac 31 Jan, 2022 @ 3:12am
Good puzzle in a small area, nice. I did things in a different way according to playthroughs, 1) was about going through fizzler backwards handing the cube and aiming at 2nd catcher (you don't need to pull it through fizzler actually, angles are ok to do it in a slow way) and 2) was the same idea but with thr bridge (one cube on exit button aiming at fizzler catcher, 2 portals behind fizzler, laser crossing the bridge and you go backwards aiming to bridge catcher). These are little shortcuts, but actually don't break puzzle
Teo 3 Aug, 2021 @ 8:06am
Probably my favorite puzzle from you, so simple and elegant :]
Dark Rozen 28 Nov, 2020 @ 6:39am
Still a fun map

Mikeastro  [author] 22 Mar, 2020 @ 6:32pm
@zorth Thank you! It is indeed quite hard, and definitely one of the best puzzles that I have ever made. Your solution was truly perfect - excellent work! I'm happy to hear that it was still enjoyable the second time :]
Tomi 22 Mar, 2020 @ 2:05pm
Replaying this one after a year, I still find it hard and very good.

@Spider_Dawg Excellent work solving this one as well! I'm glad you liked it :D
Spider_Dawg 19 Sep, 2019 @ 5:27pm
Excellent. Don't have much to say that hasn't already been said, except that as a machinist I like @Libbybapa's rating best.
kimist108 23 Aug, 2019 @ 11:56am
Not hugely different. I got one cube behind the fizzler and left the other next to the source of the laser. With a couple of moves used the cube + laser to get across the bridge and then remove the fizzler. So I had no portals at that moment. Once the fizzler was down, I placed 2 portals to get the cube behind the fizzler over to the exit area.
Mikeastro  [author] 23 Aug, 2019 @ 3:18am
@kimist108 Well done solving it! I agree that 6/10 is more appropriate - it's not easy. I do wonder what alternate method you found for bringing the first cube across...
kimist108 22 Aug, 2019 @ 6:27pm
Finished. Then, I watched Joric's walkthrough. I got the first cube over in a different manner. I really disagree with a small difficulty level. I do agree with the level 6 difficulty in your description. It was not a cakewalk for me.
Libbybapa 27 Jun, 2019 @ 3:21pm
4.53 +/- 0.07
Nobody No-One 27 Jun, 2019 @ 2:39pm
Honestly maybe 2/10 would be the most appropriate rating for this one
Mikeastro  [author] 18 Jun, 2019 @ 2:17am
@Libbybapa Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Originally I had put it on a 5/10 as well but since people reported experiencing difficulties finding the solution I changed it to 6/10
Libbybapa 17 Jun, 2019 @ 11:35pm
Fun map. I actually found this one pretty easy. It took me ~20 minutes. This might stir the pot, but I'd probably call it 4 or 5/10. :) Regardless, very well designed and fun to work through the solution.
Mikeastro  [author] 20 Feb, 2019 @ 2:10am
@Requiemsoul Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. Most of my maps are actually about medium difficulty, but those you've played from my Best Of collection are generally a bit harder
Requiemsoul 19 Feb, 2019 @ 6:42pm
Superb puzzle. Very well done and very clever! ( a bit easier than other maps of yours). I love The Talos Principle.
Mikeastro  [author] 20 Jan, 2019 @ 11:28am
@zorth Thanks a lot :) I would say there's nothing to be ashamed off - it's a tough puzzle. If anything, it only shows your tenacity is most admirable
Tomi 20 Jan, 2019 @ 10:03am
This was so good. I am a bit ashamed to admit but it took me several hours to complete this.
Mikeastro  [author] 19 Jan, 2019 @ 5:20am
@asears16 Thanks a lot for the video! It was very entertaining to watch :) You overcomplicated the ending for a short while, but you got there in the end. I'm happy to hear that you liked it
@bullfrog Excellent work solving it. It's indeed not at all easy and I'm glad you enjoyed it :D
bullfrog 19 Jan, 2019 @ 2:11am
Brilliant puzzle; very clever use of so few elements. Checked with @Joric's walkthrough - I think I did it the same way, but it would probably take me as long as my first playthrough to do it again ;) Added to favourites.
asears16 18 Jan, 2019 @ 7:27pm
This was an excellent puzzle, Mike! Much more challenging than I thought it would be at first...6/10 better represents its difficulty. Very clever uses of two cubes and a laser...great work once again!

Mikeastro  [author] 15 Jan, 2019 @ 4:36pm
@xuloP I hope you did not rage too much though :P It's definitely a lot tougher than it first looks - I updated the difficulty to 6/10 for now. I'm glad you liked it in the end :]
Polux 15 Jan, 2019 @ 3:19pm
Grrr, I couldn't solve this one. #RageQuit
I guess that my determination is no longer what it was ... just surprised by the difficulty (under estimated btw in relation to all the necessary steps) and scared by the laser angles possibilities.

Well, it's definitely a great puzzle. Gooood job.
Mikeastro  [author] 14 Jan, 2019 @ 12:41pm
@Almisuifre Thanks a lot :D
Almisuifre 14 Jan, 2019 @ 11:17am
A puzzle ! Small space, few elements, everything at plain sight, seems easy, then it's not.
Clever work !
Psychological Atom 12 Jan, 2019 @ 9:25pm
@Mikeastro No problem. I was playing two of your other maps and I'm really stumped. :)
Mikeastro  [author] 12 Jan, 2019 @ 2:48am
@Atom Thank you very much! I'm happy to hear you liked both the puzzle and the music :D
Psychological Atom 12 Jan, 2019 @ 1:00am
Great work, Mikeastro! Took a lot of thought to figure out how to sort everthing out to the exit and I really enjoyed it. Also the music is really awesome. Not only that I like the music so much but it helps me get through this test chamber. :)

@Mr Vapour Waterhandle Well done solving it! Glad you liked it. I'm really happy about the way this one turned out
