yeah, it's hard
MrEvan312  [author] 12 Oct, 2021 @ 12:07pm
Tell me about it, I've been too burnt out to work on or publish anything over the last year or so.
Master Chief; John-117 12 Oct, 2021 @ 12:03pm
yeah, I've never been like that, to me it just gets old just like putting block after block its hard :(
MrEvan312  [author] 12 Oct, 2021 @ 11:51am
But for me that's my favorite part, watching it TRULY take effect like carving a statue out of a block of stone. To me it's like the finished project is in there already, I'm just trying to find it.
MrEvan312  [author] 12 Oct, 2021 @ 11:50am
Ah, very true.
Master Chief; John-117 12 Oct, 2021 @ 10:52am
yeah its the smoothing of the armor with the modded blocks that's the hardest and other things.
MrEvan312  [author] 12 Oct, 2021 @ 10:27am
It's actually quite easy, thankfully the toolbox is still maintained
Master Chief; John-117 12 Oct, 2021 @ 10:11am
i don't think i will any more :( its a little hard :(
MrEvan312  [author] 12 Oct, 2021 @ 9:23am
You'd honestly be better off using an actual model of an CAS for that, such models are a lot more efficient and the export will be a bit more true to shape. If you want, go ahead, but I made this with an import as well so if you want to go even larger I'd suggest finding the same. They're not hard to find either
Master Chief; John-117 12 Oct, 2021 @ 9:13am
do you mind if i post a exported and upscaled version of this using SEtoolBox?
MrEvan312  [author] 17 May, 2021 @ 5:29pm
It would be something to see for sure, but even just 3km long ships start to suffer collision failures and cause substantial performance loss for most computers. Plus building something like that just takes forever and can't even hope for much of an interior which would mess with performance even worse
john jork 16 May, 2021 @ 10:34pm
Imagine if you could make a CAS that's accurate to its official size of 5,347 meters, or 2138.8 blocks long
That would be amazing and imposing, but I'm sure pretty difficult if not impossible due to engine / game limitations

Look up a file converter, I can't get to my PC at the moment but there is a free one that can load .mesh files and from there can export them as objs. Basically google ".mesh to .obj" or something like that and peruse a bit
ryley 22 Sep, 2020 @ 11:49pm
OK, I am really pepega but how did you turn the .mesh files into a .obj .stl etc.. Having a hard time with it right now.
ryley 22 Sep, 2020 @ 7:03pm
Thanks mate. I really appreciate it, and the UNSC ships would be easier because of the angular shapes. Anyways, again I really appreaciate your help. Thanks.
MrEvan312  [author] 22 Sep, 2020 @ 12:56pm
Hey! There were a few I did by hand from scratch, mainly UNSC ships, but the Covenant ones I made from imports using SEToolbox, yes. I wanted to get the proportions as close as possible given the necessity of Covenant curves. I actually got all my models from the Sins of the Prophets mod for Sins of a Solar Empire, you can download the mod and get them all if you want!
ryley 22 Sep, 2020 @ 7:03am
Hey, I was actually planning of making a collection of covenant ships 1:10 scale (obviously couldn't do the CSO) however I am curious how you made the outer shell of these ships. Did you do it by hand or went back before the economy update and used SE ToolBox and if so could you link some of the 3d models? Thanks (also big fan of your work)
MrEvan312  [author] 10 Jul, 2020 @ 9:18pm
The source material is indeed a sexy beast, and this ship was a pleasure to hull out!
Captain Roman S'Jet 10 Jul, 2020 @ 4:41pm
One of the sexiest pieces of ships around. I am a complete simp for well-designed halo ships.
And nice profile pic, Cryptic XD
MrEvan312  [author] 17 Sep, 2019 @ 5:37pm
Not the ship specifically but I do have the Charon-class light frigate on here. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=935867607&searchtext=charon
T-Roox 17 Sep, 2019 @ 5:06pm
Have you posted the forward unto dawn yet?
MrEvan312  [author] 22 Feb, 2019 @ 10:25pm
It can fulfill air support roles but the only thing we know in canon about its three letter designation is the S stands for "Salvation" indicating it's a dedicated warship. I made up the other two letters.
MagmaVirm 22 Feb, 2019 @ 10:16pm
Close Air Support?)
GoofyAhEmma 14 Feb, 2019 @ 9:41pm
Forkin Nice.
MrEvan312  [author] 25 Jan, 2019 @ 5:36pm
More accurate? Covenant uses bubble shields. And yes the ship needs more rooms and a proper interior, but I keep moving on to new projects.
Sudacor 25 Jan, 2019 @ 5:33pm
I love the bigger ship and better weapons, but the new bubble shields and lack of space for maintenance is a bit of a downside. Personally, i liked the energy shields because they were more accurate to covenant shields and more visually appealing. And having access to things like the generator room really helps, especially when you need to refuel. But that's just my opinion. Other than that, another beautiful Covenant Ship. SE could always use more Covenant stuff.

Hey MrEvan I just up-loaded my vanilla version of your CAS Assult Carrier under the desination CSO Super Carrier in case you wanted to check it out!XD
MrEvan312  [author] 13 Jan, 2019 @ 3:04pm
Absolutely!
Cryptic 13 Jan, 2019 @ 2:44pm
I appreciate your kind words! It means a lot coming frome someone just as renowned as yourself. Hopefully we'll see more of your Covie ships soon enough!
MrEvan312  [author] 13 Jan, 2019 @ 2:41pm
Thanks, CZ, means quite a bit from a reknowned Halo builder who's even gone so far as to add actual canon planets. In my case I just constantly pore over pictures of the things I build and try to get every detail, and using the imports helps too since it gives an approximate of the best slope blocks to use in a given spot.
Cryptic 13 Jan, 2019 @ 2:18am
Creations like this show me that there's actually a way to make Covie ships in this game. I'm always so scared to try. Fantastic work as always, MrEvan!
MrEvan312  [author] 12 Jan, 2019 @ 3:33pm
Andrew; Sure! Go ahead.

Sparkster: That's because while the thrusters don't have enough force to go straight up, which I don't want anyway. To go up you'd have to use forward. Something about atmospheric thrusters being able to react better on their own than being fed power, and I didn't want to add reactor mods.
Andrew Hester 12 Jan, 2019 @ 10:02am
Would you mind if I did a video of this for YouTube? :O
Sparkster 12 Jan, 2019 @ 8:08am
whenever i fly this ship and push space bar it just falls and go's down
MrEvan312  [author] 11 Jan, 2019 @ 7:51pm
Well she's now over 1k subs, I can die happy.
MrEvan312  [author] 11 Jan, 2019 @ 11:41am
Thank you, I worked hard on it. The PC crash came at a bad time when I was trying to finish the Astraeus-class having worked for weeks on it and money was tight for the better part of the year so... over 6 months without video games.
officer omnicide 11 Jan, 2019 @ 10:23am
Nice to see you with a working PC again. Your designs are all great looking and always work well and this doesn't disapoint. :)
MrEvan312  [author] 11 Jan, 2019 @ 3:14am
(New subs, kindly ignore this)

Look, Civil, I deleted my comments and yours because this is no place for that kind of bickering.

I'm sorry if I upset you in any way, alright? I honestly just don't remember what you showed me or what I may have said, I don't know what all I had going on at the time in terms of projects, and for most of 2018 I didn't even have a functioning PC. Life was kind of a shitstorm as it was.

I just finally got around to doing this project specifically because I wanted to do it as part of a new series of RTS-geared ships. By this time I didn't even remember your offer, alright? I just. Did. Not. Remember. I probably would've accepted your offer if you had talked to me more recently but again I just completely forgot.
MrEvan312  [author] 10 Jan, 2019 @ 4:06pm
AWESOME, shooting for at least 1k subs on this.
MrEvan312  [author] 9 Jan, 2019 @ 8:52pm
Well look at it this way, Lancelot, at least you don't HAVE to build one now :D

Free: Working on something but no eta.

Thel: Thank you, I am very proud of her and how she turned out. It's such a beautiful design from the Halo verse, and it deserved the best rendition I could give it, especially when I saw how off the proportions of the old one was. You should've seen the import compared to this, I know how Michalangelo felt having to chip away at a rough hewn piece of stone to make David :D
Empyrex 9 Jan, 2019 @ 8:35pm
I was working on a 1km version, but you just killed my confidence in building it
Fr33lanc3r 228 9 Jan, 2019 @ 8:20pm
So Evans any luck getting your covenant weapon models made into working mods?
Lotus 9 Jan, 2019 @ 8:17pm
@MrEvan312 you have out done yourself on this build. this is the best looking ship ive seen on the workshop and also the best looking ship in the multiverse. very good work man.
MrEvan312  [author] 9 Jan, 2019 @ 4:14pm
On the workshop front and favorable ratings! Thank you all so much!
MrEvan312  [author] 9 Jan, 2019 @ 10:45am
I was going to use it but it's not really needed, I get the same functionality and enough color choices using this pack and the file size is somewhat smaller.
PhoenixAMD 9 Jan, 2019 @ 5:57am
OMG This is a Beautiful design and looks Awesome, but just a suggestion the Nukeguard Tiered Thruster Colored Pack would be better to use the Newest Full Non Colored Pack that covers the Colored and non colored all in one. Tiered Engine Super Pack > https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=642589539 <
Fr33lanc3r 228 8 Jan, 2019 @ 5:12pm
Yes, my vanilla version moves soooooo slowly but is spawnable without immense lag and still is a good ship, I should be really thanking you because without your ship I could never have had such a mastpiece of my own!
ZABOR 8 Jan, 2019 @ 5:04pm
This ship looks amazing great work
MrEvan312  [author] 8 Jan, 2019 @ 3:26pm
Gonna go out on a limb here and say this one looks a lot more true to form, but good on ya. It's a bit of a big boi.
Fr33lanc3r 228 8 Jan, 2019 @ 1:03pm
Hey I was able to make your ship completely vanilla and still look cool and I would also like to sya that this CAS-Class is twice as large as the one I have which is still pretty big. :D
