as for aesthetics and tug role - well that large clamp sorta is just.... Large. to haul cargo you can just put a rotor and a small Landing gear on it - aka it will take 1x1 space...
But ofc for pirating (aka including taking damage) then yah large clamp is better due to more hp and possibility of easy repair. altho this one sorta looks sorta weird. Imho devs should include smaller LG for clamping - it would make smaller ships way nicer looking.
